Self Love - Why You Need To Love Yourself More and Tricks For You To Do So
“You’re always with yourself, so you might as well enjoy the company.” - Diane Von Furstenberg There are a lot of perks to loving and inherently respecting yourself; but don't do so in an egotistical manner please. When you love yourself: you build self confidence, trust yourself, take the lead, and start setting boundaries. Because of these, you'll be as happy as a dog you've just given a treat to. Now how can you love yourself more? 1. Take care of yourself. 2. Meet your own needs. 3. Surround yourself with meaningful people. 4. Set your boundaries. 5. Be compassionate to yourself. Once you love yourself, you'll have this sense of freedom that you haven't felt before – like you feel unconstrained - and you'll start living the life you truly want. Why Kindness Matters
“No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.” - Taylor Swift This is a topic you've probably heard about plenty of times throughout your life- from teachings and from your own experiences; But as we go through the real world – which is unkind to us sometimes – we need a reminder of why we should focus on being good to people. Genuine kindness should come from the act of giving as we don't expect anything back in return; but today I am going over benefits of what kindness has for you. These include: 1. Making you feel good. 2. Helping you live longer 3. Strengthening social bonds 3. People (mostly) being kind back to you as it is contagious. How to Change Your Old Habits And Keep Your New Ones For Good
“We become what we repeatedly do.” - Sean Covey 2019 is right around the corner and if you have habits you want to change, this video goes over ways you can do so. My suggestions include: 1. Making a commitment and believing in yourself. 2. Keeping cues and rewards but replacing the routines. 3. Changing the environment to work for you. 4. Being part of a support group. All in all, each habit is different and hopefully one or all of these steps can help you. Changing habits is experimental and outcomes are different for each person but they can be changed. Ways To Overcome Social Anxiety
“Self-consciousness is the enemy of all art, be it acting, writing, painting, or living itself, which is the greatest art of all.” - Ray Bradbury Do you experience anxiety in social situations? Social anxiety is common as 13-14% of individuals will develop it at some point in our lives. Social anxiety leads to feelings of being judged, inadequacy, inferiority, self-consciousnesses, and self doubt. It's a crippling feeling since it can lead to isolation lessening the quality of life. In this vid, I go over reasons to why social anxiety develops and the most useful ways to overcome it. These include: 1. Understanding that EVERYONE experiences social anxiety to a certain extent. 2. Paying attention to how you perceive yourself. 3. Paying attention to your inner critic. 4. Being rational about the fear. 5. Being present in the moment and practicing mindfulness 6. Facing your fears... progressively. Overcoming social anxiety doesn't happen in an instant and will take some time. But the work and patience will be worth it as you become increasingly comfortable with yourself. Why Time Is Important And Time Management Skills
“You may delay, but time will not.” - Benjamin Franklin Do you find yourself always short on time? I feel your pain as I constantly struggle to find enough time to do the things I want to do. Time is your most valuable asset, not money. Time allows you to pursue things that are meaningful and matter to you and also, once it passes by, you can never take it back. The best tip on being good with time is actually not being efficient, it's about eliminating – eliminating the activities that are meaningless. Once you eliminate, you'll have time to pursue important matters. Why Rejection Is Good
“I believe that rejection is a blessing because it's the universe's way of telling you that there's something better out there.” - Michelle Phan “You got nothing to lose.” - Dan Anastacios, the Philosopher We have all been rejected at some point in our lives; unless you are Ryan Gosling. Rejections hurt and will sting you but it's how you handle these situations that determine your outcomes later. Do you blame yourself? Or do you find a way for them to help you? Rejections are not all that bad. It might not feel that way when it does happen but in the end, they teach you valuable life skills. Here are reasons why rejections are good: 1. Regardless of outcomes, you took action. Pat yourself on the back. You got balls. 2. They are opportunities for growth. 3. They are opportunities for you to re-evaluate your options and path. 4. They make you stronger. 5. Finally, when you meet the right one, you won't take her for granted. Lessons of Humility From Wise Leaders
“I know that I know nothing.” - Socrates Here are a few stories of humility from great leaders whom we can learn from. Keeping a humble attitude leads to mastery, self improvement, respect for people – all factors that can avoid us from going into the path to self sabotage and harm to others. A healthy amount of ego is healthy as it builds self confidence, resilience, and respect for self and others; but too much of it is like a drug and can lead us to make poor decisions so it is wise to keep it in check. Simple ways to practice humility include: 1. Always keeping a “I don't know everything.” attitude making you a lifelong student. 2. Always learning from others. 3. Doing things for the right reasons. 4. Being practical and realistic. 5. Not forgetting where we came from. 6. Building the self awareness to keep the ego in check. Comedy Tells The Truth – Can You Handle it?
Comedy tells the truth. And the truth is that we are human and we are not perfect. What doesn't help is that life throws us a bunch of bananas and is also imperfect in itself. So striving for perfection can cause a great deal of psychological and emotional stress. The way to go is to strive for mastery instead, or doing your best while continuously improving. Too many tip-top quotes in comedy, but here's a few: "We also need comedy. Comedy reflects the fact that most of our lives include a full spectrum of events and emotions, from tragedy to bliss. Furthermore, says, we trust comedy to handle all of that honestly." - Zach Galifianakis "Comedy is the art of telling the truth about what it's like to be human." - Steve Kaplan “From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere!” - Dr. Seuss "Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long shot." - Charlie Chaplin "Humor is just another defense against the universe." - Mel Brooks "Perfect people are the scariest people to me." - Leslie Mann "If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide." - Mahatma Ghandi “Laughter is the best medicine.” - Who ever said it. Self Awareness And How We Can Get Better At It
“Self awareness is the ability to take an honest look at your life without any attachment to it being right or wrong, good or bad.” – Debbie Ford In order for improvement to occur, we must first be consciously aware of our thoughts, emotions, actions, and behaviors. Hence, self awareness is the foundation of personal growth. We can't grow until we can identify ways to do so and act upon them. We can start being more self aware by: 1. Practicing mindfulness. 2. Having alone time to be in touch with ourselves. 3. Taking the time to self-reflect. 4. Asking others about how we are. How To Stop Being Lazy And Work
"The most important thing about art is to work. Nothing else matters except sitting down every day and trying.” - Steven Pressfield, The War Of Art “How many pages have I produced? I don't care. Are they any good? I don't even think about it. All that matters is I've put in my time and hit it with all I've got. All that counts is that, for this day, for this session, I have overcome Resistance.” - Steven Pressfield, The War of Art “Resistance is not a peripheral opponent. Resistance arises from within. It is self-generated and self-perpetuated. resistance is the enemy within.” Steven Pressfield, The War of Art “Nobody knew I was done. Nobody cared. But I knew. I felt like a dragon I'd been fighting all my life had just dropped dead at my feet and gasped out its last sulfuric breath. Rest in peace, motherfucker.” Steven Pressfield, The War of Art The day to day battle against laziness – a constant struggle. Over the years, I have learned that doing work is the only and best way to get things done. I have read many self improvement books over the past few months; But not taking any action will render them useless. In this video, I am sharing strategies I use to fight against laziness: 1. Making sure I have a healthy belief system. 2. Changing my mindset on work and enjoying the process. 3. Breaking projects into smaller ones, taking breaks, and rewarding myself. 4. Forgiving myself when laziness does win. The most important thing is to keep picking ourselves back up when laziness wins as we can't win all battles. As Ulysess S. Grant quoted, “In every battle, there comes a time when both sides consider themselves beaten, then he who continues the attack wins.” Through this, you'll be building up your self-discipline muscles and you'll continue to win more battles. And ofcourse, coffee always helps. How To Practice Mindfulness To Overcome Neuroticism
“Every time we become aware of a thought, as opposed to being lost in a thought, we experience that opening of the mind.” - Joseph Goldstein Do you find yourself with repetitive thought patterns that are taking over your mind? A way to get rid of them is through mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment. Since we are usually lost with neurotic thoughts that are based on the past and future, mindfulness is effective since it brings us back to the present. The 4 steps of mindfulness include: 1. Recognizing the thought pattern. 2. Detaching yourself from the thought. 3. Letting it go if it doesn't serve any purpose. 4. Returning to the present. Mindfulness is a skill that requires practice but with time, your new thinking habit will be more automatic and you'll live with a clearer mind. Are Eggs Good For You? For Most, Yes.

But numerous studies have shown that eating up to 3 eggs per day is considered safe. Studies have shown that eating up to 3 eggs per day increase HDL (good cholesterol) while leaving most of LDL (bad cholesterol) unaffected. Some people might be particularly sensitive to dietary cholesterol so make sure to pay attention to how your body responds and it would be smart to consult with your physician as well. Why You Should Just Be Yourself
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” - Oscar Wilde It can be a challenge to be yourself especially since humans are wired to care what others think. It takes confidence and courage to be your authentic self; and time as well. But all of the efforts will be worth it. Why should we all be ourselves? Because: 1. We live in a world where we can't please everyone. 2. It's much more important to live up to our own values. 3. So you'll take your life where you want it to go. Not being ourselves is very harmful as we miss out on opportunities we should create for ourselves. So take the mask off and be yourself. Nonverbal Communication – Most of What You Say Is How You Say It
“Blaine, always keep your back straight!” - my mama Most of what you're saying is how you say it – non-verbally that is. Reading nonverbal cues is important because it is a more powerful display of how a person is actually feeling. And in the real world, since we are always socializing with others, it would serve us well to communicate well with others. We want to do so in the right context and when people are open to hearing from us. Nonverbal communication includes: 1. body movements 2. posture 3. eye contact 4. para-language (voice) 5. closeness or proximity 6. facial expressions 7. physiological changes We can use nonverbal language to our advantage as well; such as having a confident posture, speaking with the appropriate tonality, or having open body movements when others are speaking to us. Most importantly, I encourage you to be a lifelong learner of nonverbal language to be a superstarrrr communicator.
