(see link below) The U.K. Government's Chief Advisor on Drugs Policy Professor David Nutt was fired after he revealed that alcohol and tobacco were more dangerous than cannabis and ecstasy, which is proven by scientific analysis. Prof.David Nutt believes Govt are deliberately ignoring evidence.
Scientific evidence and health records prove that alcohol causes more damage to the liver and brain, and 90 thousand people are killed by alcohol-related diseaes in the U.S. and U.K. combined each year. Drink driving accounts for 30 to 40 percent of all road deaths Worldwide.
Tobacco smoking also causes 15 million deaths per year-(80 000 in England alone)- from lung cancers and other diseases, compared with the average of 7 deaths caused by ecstasy per year (average taken from over a ten year period).
Cannabis is a non-toxic substance, meaning it cannot kill because it is not a potent poison.
Alcohol kiils more than 5 times the amount of people than all drugs combined. Does Government really care about deaths caused by alcohol and tobacco or are TAXES more important to them?? Do Government want to stop alcohol and tobacco deaths, or do they see them as a form of reducing the unemployment and pension benefits handed out??
Usage of marijuana is encouraged and supported by doctors before a patient has chemotherapy because marijauana increases the effectiveness of chemo-medications and also increases the effectiveness of chemo-radiation therapy...the chemical compound called 'THC' inside the marijuana plant helps reduce nausea and vomiting and helps shrink tumours and slow the spread of cancer.
Luckily people can get hold of marijuana quite easily, because getting cancer treatment in itself is expensive for many, too expensive to consider for others, and chemotherapy on its own does not kill all aggressive cancers.
You have to be open to the fact that cancer treatments have not been fully developed, and any combination of drugs that kill cancers more effectively have to be tested and people should have that choice to test the new medications and mixing with marijuana and other drugs to find the most effective combination for specific cancer types. Nobody should be able to tell a person with cancer that they will just have to die rather than be given the choice to experiment and find what best fights their cancer.
More guidelines on usage of marijuana need to be published. Half a gram of marijuana per day is far less likely to cause lung cancer or cause liver failure compared with 20 cigarettes (15 grams tobacco) or 4 lager beers/whiskeys every day. Responsible use is the key, and without Government backing there is no responsible usage guidelines or research. Marijuana is not the problem- ignorance and narrow mindedness causes more harm to society.
Imagine if there had been ZERO research into tobacco and alcohol?
People would be dropping like flies, Government would be blaming invisible terrorists, we'd be under martial law- and the cost to the health services and nations across the World would be 10 times more than it is today- because people have been EDUCATED with anti-tobacco and anti-alcohol campaigns and now know better. Marijuana taken in very small amounts per day relaxes people, stops people becoming aggressive and makes many people think more logically rather than irrationally. A person who smoked a joint will be far, far less likely to attack someone than a drunk person.
Governments just want to ignore the facts, and have chosen to invest virtually NOTHING into the medicinal benefits of marijuana, and hence have published no guidelines, just condemnation of the drug as a whole, and Governments across the World have demonzed it and users of the drug.
You would expect ignorance in a Mid East country where alcohol use is a jailable offense, some even get killed for taking alcohol. But in modern societies? Our modern Governments need to quickly enter the 21st Century rather remaining narrow-minded like some old-fashioned countries.
