As the government struggles with the challenge of public wage bill, proposing a host of austerity measures to cushion the economy amid rising unemployment levels, an innovative young graduate in Narok it appears has a solution to his peers who are constantly searching for white collar jobs. 26 year old George Mochu Ngare, a holder of a degree in Bachelors of Arts in Economics from a local university, has set up an environmental friendly business enterprise of manufacturing charcoal briquettes from waste sawdust. Eliud Kipchoge and Gladys Cherono win gold in Berlin Marathon
Olympic Champion Eliud Kipchoge and Gladys Cheronoh emerged victorious in this year’s edition of the Berlin Marathon, in Germany. Kipchoge completed the 42 kilometer event in 2 hours 03 minutes and 32 seconds beating Ethiopia’s Guye Adola to the second spot. Defending champion Kenenisa Bekele fell behind and then former world-record holder Wilson Kipsang dropped out. Gladys Cherono won the women’s race in 2 hours 20 minutes and 23 seconds, ahead of Ethiopia’s Ruti Aga and fellow Kenyan Valary Ayabei. Former winners Kipchoge, Bekele and Kipsang were targeting Dennis Kimetto’s mark before the race but were hampered by misty drizzle.

Fallen Singer Achieng' Abura buried
Popular Afro jazz musician Achieng Abura has been laid to rest on her father’s farm in Kaputanyi village in Tindereti constituency, Nandi county. The award winning artist died while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital last week. The burial ceremony was however not attended by majority of local musicians and political leaders, despite the accolades and messages of condolences that were sent in their thousands following reports that she had passed on. The late Abura leaves behind a 23 year old son.

Wajir woman rep refute claims of bribery over sugar probe report
Wajir woman representative Fatuma Gedi has poured cold water on claims that she bribed fellow lawmakers to shoot down the sugar probe report by a joint committee of parliament. Gedi however said she lobbied for the rejection of the report which she termed shoddy. The lawmaker lamented even as senators expressed willingness to take up the matter, promising to conduct independent investigations that will clear the air on whether the sugar being consumed by Kenyans is safe or not. A contingent of the Sierra Leone military stationed in Kismayo and working alongside the African mission in Somalia have begun daily foot patrols as a way of deterring elements of the militant group al Shabaab from carrying out attacks. The Bravo combat team of the Sierra Leone army led by Lieutenant Joseph Adekule crossed 6 kilometers north to the village of Gobweyn, where the militants now launch their probing attacks. The Court of appeal has nullified the election of Lamu senator Anwar Loitiptip. The jubilee senator whose election had been upheld by the high court is now vowing to move to the Supreme Court. The 3 judge bench in overturning a decision of the high court ordered IEBC to conduct a fresh election. Wiper democratic candidate Hassan Albeity had challenged Loitiptip’s election citing massive irregularities relating to vote counting and verification. The three judge bench ruled there were excess number of voters than those registered in one polling station.

First Konza city building to be done by January 2018
Construction of the first building at the Konza Techno City would be complete by January in 2018. The eight-storey building with two basement floors will house an office block, incubation center, five star hotel and conference facility. Funeral service held for KU Kisii accident students
It was a moment of sadness and reflection at Kenyatta University during the funeral service of two of the eight students who perished in a road accident a week ago along the Kisii-Kilgoris road.
