Age

About 3000-1000BC. Carbon dates range from 906-3180BC, but most are between 1501 and 2683 (median, Calib 5.1 applied).

Distribution

Mostly Coastal Plain, but at least one site (38GR1) at the base of the Appalachians has produced it. Extends into southeastern North Carolina, but is rare north of the Pee Dee.

 

Description

 

Paste/Temper

Voids left by fiber temper are visible in a generally fine paste, that is sometimes sandy.

 

Surface Treatment

Surfaces are generally plain.
