THIS IS HOW ICE CREAM IS MADE

05:37
It's almost impossible to imagine a person who doesn't love ice cream! Let's look inside an ice cream factory and enjoy this yummy video! The traditional recipe for ice cream is a mixture of cream, milk, sugar, dyes and flavors. But production of this dessert has moved away from tradition, and now you can find ice cream with any flavor! Vegan, fruit, sweet and salt - there's no flavor ice cream hasn't been produced! Finamac is a company that helps people to get their hands on this yummy dessert! It was founded in Brazil, in 1985, by an aeronautical engineer with experience in the aerospace industry. He helped set up the company, along with a project for a compact ice pop machine, that was completely innovative for the market in those days. The idea came from growing up watching his father, an Italian immigrant who arrived in Brazil in 1954 and started out with an ice cream shop, as well as from working later as a refrigeration technician and, during his free time, producing small artisanal ice cream machines for people in his neighborhood. Today, Finamac exports its brand and products to more than 100 countries. In 2016, Finamac began the development of new technology for ice pop production that is expected to revolutionize the world market. Watch this tasty video - it will definitely make you feel satisfied! The Wonder of Insect Flight

01:19:08
Multimedia Presentation by Dr. Andy McIntosh Apologetics Symposium Cedar Park Church, Bothell WA October 3rd 2018 The wonder of insect flight is shown in the great variety of wings and the way that they are used in flight. Butterflies may seem driven by wind or gentle breeze but in fact are excellent fliers, with some covering immense distances in migration. Starting life as caterpillars, metamorphosis defies an evolutionary explanation for their supposed development from some worm like creature. Dragonflies are the kings of insect flight with their great speed and the ability to control each wing independently, Damselflies have brilliant hovering skills and both these flying insects start off in the water breathing entirely differently to their later life in the air. We examine a number of insects and look at beetles with their brilliant folding wings – examples of naturally occurring origami! We end with the amazing dung beetle which even has the ability to navigate by the stars – such is the wonder of what God has made in the insect kingdom! About the Speaker: Professor Andy McIntosh (Leeds) holds a Research chair in Thermodynamics and Combustion Theory, and is an adjunct Professor at Mississippi State University USA. He has a PhD in combustion theory from the aerodynamics department of what was then Cranfield Institute of Technology (now Cranfield University), a DSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of Wales and worked for a number of years at the Royal Aircraft Establishment. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, the Institute of Energy, the Institute of Physics and the Royal Aeronautical Society. A chartered mathematician and engineer, and author of over 195 papers and articles, his research has been in combustion in fluids and solids and has lectured and researched in these fields for over 30 years. His work has also included investigations into the fundamental link between thermodynamics and information, and in the last few years he has been involved in research in the area of biomimetics where the minute combustion chamber of the bombardier beetle has inspired a patented novel spray technology with applications to fuel injectors, pharmaceutical sprays, fire extinguishers and aerosols. This research was awarded the 2010 Times Higher Educational award for the Outstanding Contribution to Innovation and Technology. He has debated academics in a number of Universities, lectures and speaks on apologetics in many countries on the importance of origins, and in particular against Atheism. He has authored the book “Genesis for Today” (Day One, 6th Edition, 2018), “Genesis 1-11 – a verse by verse commentary”(Day One, 2016), “Wonders of Creation – Design in a fallen world” (with Stuart Burgess and Brian Edwards, Day One, 2017), and has contributed to the books “In six days” (Master Books, 2009) “Should Christians embrace Evolution?” (IVP, 2009), and “Origins – examining the evidence” (Truth in Science 2011). He has also contributed to TV and radio programs to present the scientific evidence for creation and design, in particular Newsnight with Jeremy Paxman (2006), Sunday Sequence (BBC Northern Ireland) with William Crawley (2006) and the Big Questions with Nicky Campbell (2011). He is married with 3 children and 6 grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ This seminar was recorded during our Apologetics Symposium at Cedar Park Church in Bothell Washington (http://www.cedarpark.org/). Episode 37 Gary Taubes discusses low carb diets and sheds light on the hazards of sugar

02:00:29
Subscribe to the podcast at http://stemtalk.us Full show notes are available at http://stemtalk.us/episode-37/ The front pages of Gary Taubes’ new book on sugar feature a blurb excerpted from the magazine Scientific American: “Taubes is a science journalist’s science journalist who researches topics to the point of obsession – actually, well beyond that point – and never dumbs things down for readers.” Gary’s most recent obsession is documented in “The Case Against Sugar,” a book that argues that increased consumption of sugar over the past 30 to 40 years has led to a diabetes epidemic not only in the United States, but an epidemic that’s now spreading around the world. Episode 37 of STEM-Talk features a more than two-hour conversation with Gary about his latest research as well as a look back at other nutrition and science topics that have dominated Gary’s journalistic investigations since the 1980s. Gary first burst onto the national scene in 2002 with an article in the New York Times Magazine titled, “What If’s It’s All Been a Big Fat Lie?” Gary made the point that Robert Atkins and his high-fat, low-carb diet had a better history and scientific record of helping people lose weight than the low-fat diet that was and remains the centerpiece of the nation’s health policy and food pyramid. The article had an immediate impact. As Michael Pollan pointed out in the introduction of “The Omnivore’s Dilemma,” in the fall of 2002 bread “abruptly disappeared overnight from the American dinner table.” Virtually overnight, wrote Pollan, Americans changed the way they eat. Gary did not set out to become a science journalist. He graduated from Harvard College in 1977 with an S.B. degree in applied physics and went on to earn an M.S. degree in aeronautical engineering from Stanford University. But while at Stanford, he realized he wasn’t that passionate about becoming an aeronautical engineer and decided to enroll in the Columbia School of Journalism to become an investigative reporter. In the ‘80s, Gary became fascinated with flawed science and started writing a series of magazine articles about bad science. That eventually led to a pair of books: “Nobel Dreams” in 1987 and “Bad Science: The Short Life and Weird Times of Cold Fusion” in 1993. After “Bad Science,” Gary turned to nutrition reporting and that resulted in the 2002 article in the New York Times Magazine. He followed up on his research for the article with two books: “Good Calories, Bad Calories” in 2007; and “Why We Get Fat” in 2010. Both books detailed how refined carbohydrates are largely responsible for America’s rising obesity rate and a primary cause of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other chronic diseases of the Western diet. His new book, “The Case Against Sugar,” takes this argument a step further and shows how the explosion of sugar consumption and sugar-rich products in the United States has led to a global diabetes epidemic. Dan Barber, author of “The Third Plate,” wrote in a New York Times review of Gary’s book, “Comparing the dangers of inhaling cigarettes with chowing down on candy bars may sound like a false equivalence, but Gary Taubes’s “The Case Against Sugar” will persuade you otherwise. Here is a book on sugar that sugarcoats nothing. The stuff kills.” Below are links to Gary’s books: “The Case Against Sugar” http://amzn.to/2ps8Qbl “Good Calories, Bad Calories” http://amzn.to/2qTwJJ6 “Why We Get Fat” http://amzn.to/2qKuv2u “Bad Science” http://amzn.to/2qTjyrI “Nobel Dreams” http://amzn.to/2pXpRgK

NFOs are not pilots (naval aviators) per se, but they may perform many "co-pilot" functions, depending on the type of aircraft. Until 1966, their duties were performed by both commissioned officer and senior enlisted naval aviation observers (NAO).In 1966, enlisted personnel were removed from naval aviation observer duties but continued to serve in enlisted aircrew roles, while NAO officers received the newly established NFO designation, and the NFO insignia was introduced. NFOs in the US Navy all begin their careers as unrestricted line officers (URL), eligible for command at sea and ashore in the various naval aviation aircraft type/model/series (T/M/S) communities and, at a senior level, in command of carrier air wings and aircraft carriers afloat and functional air wings, naval air stations and other activities ashore. They are also eligible for promotion to senior flag rank positions, including command of aircraft carrier strike groups, expeditionary strike groups, joint task forces, numbered fleets, naval component commands and unified combatant commands. A small number of US Navy NFOs have later opted for a lateral transfer to the restricted line (RL) as aeronautical engineering duty officers (AEDO), while continuing to retain their NFO designation and active flight status. Such officers are typically graduates of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School and/or the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School with advanced academic degrees in aerospace engineering or similar disciplines. AEDO/NFOs are eligible to command test and evaluation squadrons, naval air test centers, naval air warfare centers, and hold major program management responsibilities within the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). Similarly, Marine Corps NFOs are also considered eligible for command at sea and ashore within Marine aviation, and are also eligible to hold senior general officer positions, such as command of Marine aircraft wings, Marine air-ground task forces (MAGTFs), joint task forces, Marine expeditionary forces, Marine Corps component commands and unified combatant commands. The counterpart to the NFO in the United States Air Force is the combat systems officer (CSO), encompassing the previous roles of navigator, weapon systems officer and electronic warfare officer. Although NFOs in the Navy's E-2 Hawkeye aircraft perform functions similar to the USAF air battle manager in the E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft, their NFO training track is more closely aligned with that of USAF combat systems officers. The United States Coast Guard had a short-lived NFO community in the 1980s and 1990s when it temporarily operated E-2C Hawkeye aircraft on loan from the Navy. Following a fatal mishap with one of these aircraft at the former Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, the Coast Guard returned the remaining E-2Cs to the Navy and disestablished its NFO program.

It was awarded to those military officers and NCOs who had qualified as flight engineers on board a military aircraft. As aircraft grew increasingly complex, the need arose for an in-flight specialist dedicated to monitoring and operating the various systems. However, prior to the creation of their own distinctive wings, flight engineers wore aircrew wings. During the Korean War, the Flight Engineer Badge was slowly phased out by the United States Air Force and replaced with the Aircrew Badge. By 1962, the Flight Engineer Badge was no longer issued and had been declared obsolete. However, regulations through the early 1970s authorized USAF personnel who had been "...granted aeronautical ratings no longer current ... to wear the aviation badge that was in effect when the rating was granted." The Flight Engineer Badge continued to be worn by some remaining World War II and Korean War veterans until they eventually retired or otherwise left military service. The badge is still worn today by some flight engineers as unofficial novelty badges, but only on flight suits during inflight operations. The official design incorporated a four-bladed propeller with 18 radial engine cylinders.

Airplane Mechanics Unable to Read Repair Manuals Written in English

03:39
Fixing an aircraft is not like fixing a Chevy. Aircraft mechanics don't do their job with guesses, but instead do them with a repair manual open in front of them, mapping every step. Manuals are written in English, the worldwide language of aviation. News 8 has uncovered a pipeline of mechanics that are being funneled into the United States from foreign countries and may lack the necessary English skills to read and understand the manuals needed to make proper repairs. Documents and interviews indicate one Texas repair firm, San Antonio Aerospace (SAA), now has more than 100 Mexican and Asian aircraft mechanics. SAA's sprawling repair station in San Antonio is currently running two shifts a day doing contract work for both Delta Airlines and UPS, among others. Some SAA repairmen say the Mexican workers lack the ability to even understand the content of company meetings, much less read manuals. Nonetheless, they say, SAA sent a manager to Mexico to actively recruit repairmen. One certified American mechanic who spoke Spanish said he acted as an informal translator to help the Mexican workers once they arrived in San Antonio. "I would be like the Pied Piper to them," he said. "They would follow me and ask what the meeting was about, 'What did the lead mechanic say?'" "They came in at half the pay as American, English-speaking mechanics, so they got a bargain," a mechanic said. "Of course, the downfall is when you can't read, write or understand English there is a serious safety problem going on there." "The FAA is the entity that is supposed to safeguard the public's interest in safe transportation," Goglia said. "And, where are they?" The FAA, in a comment about a previous News 8 story, said it is not necessary for an aircraft mechanic to speak perfect English. (How does the FAA define the term "perfect"?) It is one of the four autonomous constituent colleges (University Departments) of Anna University It was established in 1949 by Chinnaswami Rajam as the first self-financing engineering institute in the country, and later it merged with Anna University. The institute was at that time an experiment in technical education, for it introduced to India new areas of specialization: aeronautical engineering, automobile engineering, electronics engineering and instrumentation technology. MIT was the first self-financing college opened in India. The MIT is the first institute in India to offer postgraduate courses in avionics and mechatronics. The institute also has an unusual practice of "T-series" a student mentoring system by senior students The aeronautical, automobile and electronics departments of this institute are very popular and get the cream of students in Tamil Nadu, usually having very high cut-offs with seats getting filled in the early batches of first-day counselling. The alumni of this institute include former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, and writer Sujatha Rangarajan. The former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University Dr P Mannar Jawahar is a former MIT-ian. The cultural festival of MIT Mitafest, is well known in the vicinity of Chromepet. The institute campus is also home to AU-KBC Research Centre. With the dawn of Independence, the need for establishing a sound technological basis for the industrial advancement of the country was realised. At this juncture in 1949, Mr Rajam Iyer donated INR 5 lakhs through the sale of his house and founded the MIT, and raised funds from people and industries for its running. Sri M K Ranganathan, Rtd Chief Engineer, became the first principal of the institute. At a time when other engineering institutions were offering conventional courses in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering at the undergraduate level, Mr.Rajam launched the experiment of introducing for the first time in the country new areas of specialisation in Engineering, namely Aeronautical Engineering Automobile Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Instrument Technology.MIT was started in 1949 and was offering a three-year (undergraduate programme) in Engineering for Science graduates (BSc).During the early years, the institute offered Diploma in Engineering to science graduates(DMIT). Subsequently, on the formation of Anna University in 1978, MIT became one of the constituent institutions of the university and hence, the department has also become a department of Anna University, they started awarding the Degree B.Tech, three year Engineering Degree course to (B.Sc)science graduates.Over the years, the institute has expanded its original programme and now offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Production Engineering, Rubber and Plastics Technology, Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology. The institute accepts students who have passed the 12th board examinations for its four-year undergraduate programme from 1996. Instrumentation and Control did not exist in India as a subject of study in 1949. Now, this branch of applied science and technology has become important in industry, and past students of MIT now hold key positions in research and development organisations, man ...
