The True and the False Self

06:55
A good life is one in which we can dare to show our True Self and do not mind too much occasionally having to wear the mask of a False Self. But for this to be possible, we need a certain sort of childhood - as the masterful British psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott helped to explain in his theory of the true and the false self, outlined here. Because our caregivers were preoccupied or fragile, we had to be preternaturally attuned to their demands, sensing that we had to comply in order to be loved and tolerated; we had to be false before we had the chance to feel properly alive. And as a result, many years later, without quite understanding the process, we risk feeling unanchored, inwardly dead and somehow not entirely present…” You can read more on this and other subjects on our blog, here: https://bit.ly/2qEJiJZ MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Visit us in person at our London HQ: https://bit.ly/2HqFpTn Watch more films on SELF in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLself You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: Download our App: https://bit.ly/2H4YtHd Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Katherine Blanchin https://vimeo.com/katebalchin #TheSchoolOfLife

How Do You Get To Know Yourself Fully? - Sadhguru answers at Entreprenuers Organization Meet

06:01
Sadhguru looks at how unfortunately, most people do not pay enough attention to what lies within. He explains how the human system is the most sensitive and sophisticated machine on the planet. When we have such a wonderful gadget in our hands, we can't afford to operate like a "blacksmith"! Sadhguru Talks @ Entreprenuers Organization Meet, Chennai, Feb 2013 ***************************** Full Transcript: Sadhguru: Just got to be introduced, that’s all. (Laughter) You’re paying too much attention to everything around you, not enough attention to this one. (Gestures) But the quality of your life is essentially determined by how you carry this one. Yes or no? This moment, what kind of clothes you’re wearing, what kind of car you parked outside, what kind of home you live in - does not determine the quality of your life. This moment how joyful are you feeling within yourself, determines the quality of your life; isn’t it so? Nothing has been done about it. You think it will happen in consequence and you’re setting impossible goals for your happiness. ‘If I have to be happy, my wife should be like this, my hus… husband should be like that, my children should be like this, the world should become some other way.’ Well, these are impossible conditions you’re setting for your happiness and peacefulness. Focus On Yourself And Not Others ? (One of the Best Speeches Ever) ft. Eternal Explorer ►Special thanks to Eternal Explorer - Motivation for providing the content. ►Subscribe to Eternal Explorer - Motivation for more amazing contents: https://www.youtube.com/user/theeternalexplorer Video Used: 'PURPOSE' (ft.Will Smith) - Motivational video | Arnold Schwarzenegger | Jim Carrey inspiring speech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlmPe3Jdmlk&t=14s Many of us, as we were growing up, learned to ignore our inner experience and instead we learned to focus on others. Our ego wounded self learned to tune into what others were feeling in the hopes of having control over feeling safe. Where you put your focus depends upon on what you believe makes you feel happy and safe. If you believe that your happiness and safety come from others liking you, connecting with you, approving of you, loving you, or spending time with you, then your focus is likely to be on others. If you believe that your happiness and safety come from connecting with yourself and with your higher guidance, and from approving of yourself, defining your own worth, spending time with yourself, taking loving action for yourself, and sharing your love and caring with others, then your focus is likely to be within. In other words, if you believe your happiness and safety come from getting love, your focus will be on others. If you believe your happiness and safety come from being loving with yourself and others, your focus will be within. The story of the human race is the story of men and women selling themselves short, settling for far less than they are truly capable of. The truth is we’re all meant to thrive. We came into this world with more talents and abilities than most of us ever use. Our potential is only drawn from us when we are focused on our strengths, and embrace who we really are. As you grow you realize most people are oblivious to the turmoil in our society and their lack of freedom. There is nothing worse than living a life somebody else designed for you. The system is designed so the majority fail, which is exactly what they are doing.

How To Love Yourself - How To Like Who You Are Right Now

19:18
How To Love Yourself - Stop the guilt and shame right now and start to be happy with who you are. The Ultimate Life Purpose Course - Create Your Dream Career: http://www.actualized.org/life-purpose-course Leo's Top 140 Self Help Books http://www.actualized.org/books Full Video Transcript Here: http://www.actualized.org/articles/how-to-love-yourself Video Summary: Everyone dislikes some things about themselves, but hopefully not everything. Learning to love yourself is so much more empowering than micro-analyzing your flaws through a magnifying glass. Every flaw presents you with a choice: you can try to change it, or accept it as part of you. That doesn't mean that you should use character flaws as excuses not to grow, however. Learning to tell yourself at close range that you love and accept yourself just the way you are can help you see how unnecessarily critical you've been of yourself. You're so much more than a handful of flaws. Zoom your lens out to see yourself in a more accurate perspective. Self-acceptance and self-improvement are not opposing forces. Ideally, learn to love who you are right now, and then from that amazing position, work to improve yourself. Only from a position of loving yourself can you contribute your talents to the world. When you're happy from the inside out, you exude happiness and can better design your life.

Is "just be yourself" good dating advice for women?

Is "just be yourself" good dating advice for women? GET FREE ACCESS TO MY COURSE: https://dalexis-school.thinkific.com/collections Support me on Patreon: patreon.com/ma20 GET 1on1 COACHING: https://mindfulattraction.org Follow me on ig: Dalexisp ‘Just be yourself’ is a horrible advice. If people were actually themselves in relationships, murders will be happening on a daily basis. A human being who is himself will look after his self-interest. The advice ‘just be yourself’ is a strategy. When you're being yourself, that just means you have to bring out all your demons as well. If you're jealous, you have to tell the guy you're jealous. If you suck at conversations, you have to deal with that fact. You won't try to work on it. People assume that humans are static. It's an ignorant view of humans. People believe that who you are is perfect. F*** no! Who you are is broken. Most people are jaded. Most people have been f***** over by life. To expect people to be themselves after they have been shattered and broken by life's brutality is pretty ignorant. It shows me that you are looking at people for your own experience. The truth is that when life hits you hard, it's hard to be yourself because you don't know who you are. You get rejected for being yourself and then, suddenly, you start noticing that if you offer too much of yourself you get rejected. Then, you start backing off. Now you don't know who you are. You date a guy and start having an interest in punk rock. The next guy gets you into skateboarding. The next guy made you start shooting hoops. You take on the tastes of the next guy. It's sad because you can never be yourself. Who you are is not static. Who you are is always changing. What I think about that advice is that it's bullshit. It's a lazy advice. It's an advice that says don't work on yourself. If you realize that you have to work on yourself, that means you’ve got to work. That means you’ve got to face yourself, your bullshit, your insecurities, and the pain you've been avoiding. Nothing sucks more than having to see who you are and finding out that it's not enough. However, nothing is more liberating than finding out that you could change. You could improve upon yourself. Being Who I Am Without Trying

27:40
Why it is essential for you to be who you are without trying to be something you are not, to be authentic, and to be willing to unapologetically stand up for yourself and what you want in order to attract and keep the women you want in your life on your terms. In this video coaching newsletter, I discuss an email from a viewer who says that he is having a problem juggling dating multiple women. He says that because of my work he has more choice with women than he expected. He appears to have only read my book once and is telling himself that he does not need to read it anymore because things come so easily without trying and what I teach resonates so strongly with him. However, since he really has not taken the time to learn the basic fundamentals of what I teach, he’s making incorrect assumptions, he’s making unnecessary mistakes and he’s actually starting to lie to women about how many other women he is dating. Therefore, he is focusing on trying to game, outsmart, deceive and manipulate women since he is too afraid that speaking his truth will drive women away and lead to unwanted rejection. He wants to know how to avoid creating drama without lying to women. “Most people are too afraid, timid or shy to be themselves and stand up for what they really want out of fear that they don’t deserve what they want, can’t have it or won’t have it for very long. When you consciously and unconsciously do not feel worthy of your desires, your words, voice tonality and actions will literally drive people away and cause them to treat you the opposite way of what you want. When you believe you are worthy, you will feel bold and courageous enough to stand up for yourself, speak the truth of your desires and have inner peace and total acceptance of any and all outcomes. Why? Even if you don’t get what you want right away, when you lose your attachments to the way you think things should be, you will create the space and vibe that allows people and circumstances beyond your wildest dreams and expectations to effortlessly manifest slowly over time.” ~ Coach Corey Wayne If you have not read my book, “How To Be A 3% Man” yet, that would be a good starting place for you. How to Process Your Emotions

03:25
In order to be calm and at ease with ourselves, we need regular periods where we do something rather strange-sounding: process our emotions. Here is a guide to this essential psychological move. If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/GTunD2 Join our mailing list: http://bit.ly/2e0TQNJ Or visit us in person at our London HQ https://goo.gl/qMLe4B FURTHER READING “It is a quirk of our minds that not every emotion we carry is fully acknowledged, understood or even truly felt. There are feelings that exist in an ‘unprocessed’ form within us. A great many worries may, for example, remain disavowed and uninterpreted and manifest themselves as powerful directionless anxiety. Under their sway, we may feel a compulsive need to remain busy, fear spending any time on our own or cling to activities that ensure we don’t meet what scares us head on (these might include internet pornography, tracking the news or exercising compulsively). A similar kind of disavowal can go on around hurt. Someone may have abused our trust, made us doubt their kindness or violated our self-esteem but we are driven to flee a frank recognition of an appalling degree of exposure and vulnerability. The hurt is somewhere inside, but on the surface, we adopt a brittle good cheer (jolliness being sadness that doesn’t know itself), we numb ourselves chemically or else adopt a carefully non-specific tone of cynicism, which masks the specific wound that has been inflicted on us…” You can read more on this and other subjects on our blog, here: https://goo.gl/FxY6e6 MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/jWiJE7 Watch more films on SELF in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLself You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Vale Productions http://www.valeproductions.co.uk/ #TheSchoolOfLife

Tony Robbins: Feeling Lost? How to Find Yourself Again ( Tony Robbins Passion )

36:03
Whether you’ve lost yourself in your job, relationship, your role as a parent or simply feel lost in life in general, you are not alone. It doesn’t mean your life is doomed and that you will never find yourself again. It simply means you are going through an incubation period and transformation. The key is not to get stuck in your current lost state and to tap into your creative power to create a life you love. Here are seven tips that will help you out of this lost state and remind you of the power you have to create a life you love. 1. Remember what you love to do and go do it! Do you remember the last time you had fun in your life? Do you remember when things felt easy and in the flow? It was likely because you were fully engrossed in the fun of the moment. As we grow up, we lose sight of how amazing life can be because we feel burdened by the responsibilities and mundane parts of life. It’s time to reconnect with what you love and to take action on it. No more excuses about not having the time, money, resources, babysitter etc. Make a commitment to do what you love and watch your life change before your very eyes. 2. Go on an adventure. Whether it’s a day trip, a solitary retreat, or a week-long drive along the coast, go out and explore the world. This will not only allow you to tap into the flow, but it will also give you the time and focus to really reconnect with yourself again. You’ll be away from the noise of your regular life and will be able to see and experience the world with fresh eyes. I promise, when you come back you will have far more clarity about where you are going than you had when you started. 3. Reconnect with your dreams and dream BIG. What kinds of dreams did you have for your life before you lost yourself in the busy-ness of life? What have you since deemed impossible or improbable because of where you are today? Grab a journal and reconnect with the dreams you once had and better yet, come up with some new dreams. In a perfect world, what would you love to be, have, or do? What is your soul aching for? Once you reconnect with your dreams, you’ll have the desire and inspiration to begin to take action and suddenly you will have found yourself again. 4. Expand your comfort zone regularly. It’s time to get uncomfortable by trying new things and meeting new people. Growth doesn’t happen by staying in your bubble of comfort where everything is familiar. Challenge yourself to do something that is slightly terrifying, yet invigorating. That is what I like to call the zone. It’s the space where you are stretching yourself just enough to continue to grow and evolve. What’s the first thing that came to mind for you? Go do that! 5. Get quiet and listen. Everyday there are signs, messages, and guideposts that will inspire you to act, but you only notice them if you are open. With all the mind chatter and busy-ness we have these days it can be difficult to recognize the signs that are all around, so it’s important to get quiet and listen. Pay attention to the signs on the road, songs on the radio, and the people you meet in the street. There are messengers all around with Divine guidance to help you move forward on your path. Your key to finding yourself may very well be on a billboard or come to you as a thought in the shower. Listen up, pay attention, and then follow through on your inspired action. 6. Remember you have the power to be, have, and do anything you desire. Sometimes the feeling of being lost is all-consuming and you forget that you get to choose what you think and how you feel. You are given a great amount of power to create the life you desire and get the answers you are looking for. Whether you use affirmations, mantras, meditation, yoga, journaling or something else, it’s important to focus on the beauty and joy around you. When you do that, the Universe sends you more of the same, including the answers you are seeking. 7. Ask for help. There are so many people in the world whose purpose it is to help people like you. Reach out and ask for help. You don’t have to figure this out all on your own and sometimes simply having a chat with someone can provide the insight you need to move forward with ease. Whether it’s a life coach, mentor, friend, counselor, or the Divine, ask for help and be open to the guidance and tools that come your way. Let’s keep the conversation going. What has helped you find yourself when you were feeling lost? Share in the comments below, I’d love to hear your input.

On Feeling Ugly

02:45
We all go through moods when we feel exceptionally ugly. We tend to blame our faces and our clothes, but the cause of the feeling is almost always internal. We feel ugly because things have gone wrong at a psychological level, not a physical one. Alan Watts - Stop ACTING Like Yourself - Really BE Yourself !

13:01
Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a British-born philosopher, writer, and speaker, best known as an interpreter and populariser of Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. Born in Chislehurst, England, he moved to the United States in 1938 and began Zen training in New York. Pursuing a career, he attended Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, where he received a master's degree in theology. Watts became an Episcopal priest in 1945, then left the ministry in 1950 and moved to California, where he joined the faculty of the American Academy of Asian Studies. Watts gained a large following in the San Francisco Bay Area while working as a volunteer programmer at KPFA, a Pacifica Radio station in Berkeley. Watts wrote more than 25 books and articles on subjects important to Eastern and Western religion, introducing the then-burgeoning youth culture to The Way of Zen (1957), one of the first bestselling books on Buddhism. In Psychotherapy East and West (1961), Watts proposed that Buddhism could be thought of as a form of psychotherapy and not a religion. He also explored human consciousness, in the essay "The New Alchemy" (1958), and in the book The Joyous Cosmology (1962). Towards the end of his life, he divided his time between a houseboat in Sausalito and a cabin on Mount Tamalpais. His legacy has been kept alive by his son, Mark Watts, and many of his recorded talks and lectures are available on the Internet. According to the critic Erik Davis, his "writings and recorded talks still shimmer with a profound and galvanizing lucidity."

Dr. Andrea Pennington is the Founder and President of Pennington Empowerment Media. An integrative medical doctor, acupuncturist and Positive Psychology coach, she empowers people to go from “surviving to thriving” by embracing their strengths and talents and sharing them with the world in a powerful way. Why It's Useful to Think of Yourself As a Sinner

04:57
We're generally taught nowadays to think very well of ourselves - and look with horror at religions' suggestions that we conceive of ourselves as 'sinners'. Yet, paradoxically, thinking of yourself as by nature a little sinful can lie at the origins of some very fine and noble traits of character. This seems, at first glance, both patently untrue – and deeply unhelpful. The vast majority of us have committed no particularly egregious crime and might feel understandably targeted and shamed to have to carry such a dark and archaic title. Furthermore, a burden of non-specific guilt seems like a sure route to damaged morale and a hounded personality.” MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Visit us in person at our London HQ: https://bit.ly/2G8fZbV Watch more films on SELF in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLself You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: Download our App: https://bit.ly/2HL5SfU Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Vale Productions https://www.valeproductions.co.uk/ Title animation produced in collaboration with Vale Productions https://www.valeproductions.co.uk/

Knowing Ourselves Intellectually vs. Knowing Ourselves Emotionally

It's obviously a great idea to try to understand ourselves, but one of the further distinctions we need to make is between knowing ourselves intellectually and knowing ourselves emotionally. Wayne Dyer - Freedom to be Yourself

23:25
Wayne Dyer - Freedom to be Yourself ►Wayne Walter Dyer (May 10, 1940 – August 29, 2015) was an American philosopher, self-help author, and a motivational speaker. His first book, Your Erroneous Zones (1976), is one of the best-selling books of all time, with an estimated 35 million copies sold to date ► Dyer was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Melvin Lyle Dyer and Hazel Irene Vollick, and spent much of his first ten years in an orphanage on the east side of Detroit,[1] after his father walked out on the family, leaving his mother to raise three small boys. His parents had moved from Ontario, Canada, and were members of Baptist Church. After graduating from Denby High School, Dyer served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. He received his Ed.D. degree in counseling from Wayne State University for a dissertation titled Group Counseling Leadership Training in Counselor Education, under the supervision of Mildred Peters. ► Dyer, a Detroit native, worked as a high school guidance counselor there and as a professor of counseling psychology at St. John's University in New York City. . A literary agent persuaded Dyer to document his theories in his first book, called Your Erroneous Zones (1976). Dyer quit his teaching job and began a publicity tour of the United States, doggedly pursuing bookstore appearances and media interviews ("out of the back of his station wagon", according to Michael Korda, making the best-seller lists "before book publishers even noticed what was happening"). After Your Erroneous Zones dozens more books followed, many of them also best-sellers. Among them were Wishes Fulfilled, Excuses Begone and The Sky’s the Limit. The success of these books eventually led to national television talk show appearances including The Merv Griffin Show, The Tonight Show, and The Phil Donahue Show.

10 Mistakes That Make People Use You

08:40
Have you ever noticed that a good person isn't often well respected? Psychologists believe the reason is mistakes these people make in their behavior. Here’re the most common mistakes you probably do so that people don’t respect you and never listen to you. TIMESTAMPS Needless self-sacrifice 0:40 A lack of self-respect 1:30 Seeking approval from others 2:11 Thinking that the problem is only yourself 2:54 Showing off 3:43 A fear of rejection 4:23 Being deaf to your interests 5:09 You don’t limit what’s acceptable 6:00 A fear of loneliness 6:43 You believe you need to earn respect 7:33 SUMMARY - Don’t be afraid to tell the world about what you don’t like. Actually, it might cost people nothing to meet you halfway. Otherwise, your needless self-sacrifice won’t be noticed by anyone at all. - If someone behaves in a way that they don’t give a damn about you, it means they really don’t. Don’t look for excuses for rude people – they don’t deserve it. - You don’t need to be told you’re a good person to be one. Also, don’t be scared of criticism. People will criticize you all the time for anything you do, for one reason or another.  - There is no point in looking for someone to blame. Torturing yourself won’t bring you any love from others, but only pity.  - You can show you are worth something only by believing in yourself and being yourself. When you know your value, you don’t need to prove it to anyone. - Don’t be afraid to say "no." Even the nicest people in the world may try to use you if you allow them to. Help others only when you want to. - Learn to listen to your desires, and don’t be afraid of offending others. Normally, our fears don’t have a basis in reality, and it’s always possible to find a compromise. - You need to determine the limits of acceptable behavior, and don’t let others overstep these boundaries. People who agree to anything are not respected. - You don’t need to choose between your relationship and your self-worth. When others force you to make that choice, then something is going wrong. Be brave, and don’t be afraid of change. - You don’t need to "buy" love or respect. Learn to love and be loved unconditionally. Can you easily find a common language with others? 2 Ways to Save Yourself From Drowning According to Olympic Swimmers

07:19
Even the most experienced swimmers can find themselves in a situation where something has gone wrong and they start to drown. That's why it's crucial to know what to do and what NOT to do in this scenario. One day, this knowledge might save your life. For example, when a person is drowning, they need to fight not the water but their instincts. The thing is, when somebody feels that they aren't in control of the situation, they start to flail as hard as they can. By panicking, they make themselves submerge deeper and deeper. As a result, they get exhausted quickly and can't stay afloat long enough to wait for help. Do you wanna know more about it? Then watch the video! TIMESTAMPS: Some statistics about drowning 0:41 Don't panic 1:05 Tread water correctly 2:54 Float on your back 4:09 Breathe in medium-sized lungfuls of air 6:02 #survivaltips #drowning #saveyourlife Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - With regards to the US, there were approximately 3,500 unintentional fatal drownings a year from 2005 to 2014. This means that approximately 10 people lost their lives in the water every day! - When somebody feels that they aren't in control of the situation, they start to flail as hard as they can. By panicking, they make themselves submerge deeper and deeper. As a result, they get exhausted quickly and can't stay afloat long enough to wait for help. - Let's see how to tread water correctly. Your body has to stay upright, and your head should be above the surface. You need to move your arms and legs to keep yourself afloat. You can use your arms and legs together, just your legs, or just your arms. - Remember that one of the most important things about treading water is being calm and breathing slowly. This way, you won't get tired and will improve your energy efficiency as well. - The second way to stay on the surface of the water until somebody comes to rescue you is to float on your back. This is the best way to calm yourself and breathe normally. - When you exhale a deep breath, your body sinks into the water more deeply. This happens because the difference between the volume of air inside and outside the lungs is too great. That's why the best way to stay afloat is to breathe in medium-sized lungfuls of air. - Don't hold your breath! This will lead to a build-up of CO2, and this won't help you. On the contrary, you'll get out of breath much sooner. Tony Robbins: How to Define Yourself ( Tony Robbins Motivation )

16:01
Everyone struggles to figure out who people truly are. Often when they define themselves they focus on the negative or how they compare to other people. Nobody but you can define who you are but this article has some tips on how to look at the ways you define yourself and how to make it positive. 1. Discovering Your Identity Know yourself. Self-knowledge, particularly non-judgemental self knowledge, is an incredibly important skill to help you define yourself. You'll need to understand what makes you tick and what your thought processes are before you can define who you are as a person. Mindfulness means paying attention to what you are thinking and observing your patterns of thought. For instance, you might realize that you have a tendency to feel that people don't care what you think and that your opinions are unimportant. Recognizing that you have these thoughts and catching them before they start causing you anxiety, can help you piece together the important parts of your identity. When you start paying attention to your thought processes and patterns you'll need to practice attentive non-judgment. This means being aware of your thought patterns and acknowledging them, but not beating yourself up over them. Everyone has negative thought patterns and processes. By paying attention to them, you can eliminate them from your mind. Notice how you identify yourself. Once you start paying attention to the way you think about yourself and about the world, look specifically for the ways in which you identify yourself. See what groups and communities you use to create your identity. All of these inform how you see yourself and tell you what you are letting define you. For example, look at things like religion, nationality, sexual identity and see if those are ways you define yourself. Look at the roles you take on, such as your job, your position in your family (mother, father, sister, brother), your romantic status (single, couple, etc.). Jot down thought processes and self definitions. To become adept at seeing your thought processes and definitions and how those determine how you act and who you are, write them down in a notebook as you identify them. You'll be able to see how you consider yourself and it will make it easier to eliminate the negative associations. Talking to and working with a clinical psychologist can greatly help in uncovering patterns of thinking and being. They can also help you deal with the more negative aspects of your thinking. 2. Creating Your Self-Definition Record your negative definitions. Recording them and paying attention to them will help you let go of them. Getting them out in the open can help to take away some of their hold on your mind and self. Don't limit yourself in negative ways. Definition of the self determines the action. So, for instance, if you're defining yourself as someone who has bad romantic relationships, you've already lost the potential for a good romantic relationship. It is a story that you tell yourself, and then because you believe the story, you will already be behaving in ways that make the story true. Identify your core values. You don't want to define yourself based on outside forces, because outside forces are volatile and subject to constant change. By basing your self-definition on core values, you will have a better chance of having a stable self-definition.[5] You won't lose your self identity if you base it on values you hold at your core, like compassion, courage, integrity. Write down a list of these values and consciously and mindfully act them out in your daily life. Therefore, if courage is one of your core values, stand up for someone being harassed at the bus stop, or if honesty is a core value, fess up to having lost your father's favorite watch. If compassion is on that list, spend time volunteering at a homeless shelter. Define yourself in positive ways. This doesn't mean that you don't acknowledge the negative events and actions that have happened in your life. They are as much a part of you as the positive, but they do not define you. This means don't let outside circumstances rule your identity. That comes from within in, from the core values that you have already identified as being important to your identity. Understand that the negative experiences in your life have offered knowledge. For example, if you have had negative experiences with romance, learn from those experiences. What have they taught you about the kind of person you want to be?

17:36
At TEDxMiddlebury 2013 Polly Young-Eisendrath discusses the idea that we can control and manage our lives as counter to our happiness. After considering the true meaning of happiness, Polly highlights several uniquely human emotions—shame, guilt, envy, and jealousy—that pose as obstacles to this happiness and offers solutions to overcome these emotions. Polly Young-Eisendrath is a speaker, writer, Jungian analyst and mindfulness teacher. She is a long-time practitioner of Zen Buddhism and Vipassana in the tradition of Shinzen Young (in which she is a certified teacher). She has published many chapters and articles on Buddhism, psychotherapy, spirituality, resilience and Jung's psychology. She is also Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Vermont and in independent clinical practice in central Vermont. Her 14 published books have been translated into more than 20 languages, including "The Self-Esteem Trap," "The Resilient Spirit," "Women and Desire," and "The Cambridge Companion to Jung." Polly is working on a spiritual memoir called "Love Broken Open." In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Stop Apologizing. SAY THIS INSTEAD! [CC English & Español] | Kati Morton

07:36
I was recently reading an article on one of my favorite blogs Man Repeller about these two phrases and it really got me thinking. As an avid over apologizer I really wanted to understand the difference between the two and see where I could improve. Because if I’m being honest, I really hate that I say sorry so much, and I vividly remember getting yelled at by my softball coach to “stop saying sorry so much” to which I replied by saying (obviously) “sorry.” I was probably about 13 or 14 at the time, and after that interaction I became overly aware of just how often I found myself saying sorry. I would try to stop, but then I would feel like a total jerk and the guilt would ruin my day. I couldn’t figure out what to do, I even brought it up in therapy years later and my therapist tried to figure out why I was saying it so much.. Well maybe I can save you all those tough conversations and tell you what I learned about myself. I say I’m sorry all the time because I hate upsetting people and I avoid confrontation at all costs. By saying I’m sorry, even when the situation doesn’t warrant it, I am doing my best to please others and stay out of the way so to speak. It’s almost like I needed to apologize for even existing, like I could upset someone by just being there.. So I would keep saying sorry over and over. What my therapist had me do next is to work on my confidence. I know that may sound off base, but if I felt the need to apologize for just being, I obviously must not think too highly of myself. And that did help a TON, but I still found myself saying it too much. I am trying to be okay with the idea that I cannot please everyone. It’s simply not possible...I mean just think about it, if 2 people disagree with what should take place, what does someone like me do? If I don’t want to upset either of them I honestly can’t do anything. I will have to displease one of them, and you know what I have learned… it’s most important that I am pleased. And that’s the truth. One of my favorite quotes or sayings is “you can’t let yourself on fire to keep someone else warm” and I am really trying to remember that and have healthy boundaries around what I will do or not do for someone else, and truly what I will do for myself. Okay, enough rambling on the topic of saying sorry. Now onto the phrase “thank you” because this is something I am trying to say more! While “sorry” is an apology and something you would say when you have wronged someone else, “thank you” is an acknowledgement of someone doing something right. You are letting them know you noticed it and you are grateful. For example if I show up late to meet someone instead of saying “sorry I’m late” because the other person will only say “oh it’s okay” and I will say sorry again and then they will say it’s okay again, and we will settle in. Instead if I say “thank you for waiting” I am acknowledging what they did for me. They waited. Sorry in a way makes it all about the person who did something wrong or inconsiderate instead of focusing of the person who was waiting. Does that make sense? I hope so. So after reading this blog post I have decided to try and say thank you when someone did something nice for me instead of saying sorry. Being Who You Really Are

22:50
Why being who you really are is one of the smartest choices you can make that will help you reach your full potential, but why it can also be so destructive to your current lifestyle and relationships. In this video coaching newsletter, I discuss an email from a female viewer who says that she has been married to a beta male for the past fourteen years. She is very comfortable being in her masculine, but she has grown tired of always having to be the man in her relationship. She has been focusing on becoming more comfortable in her natural feminine essence, but her husband seems to resent her changes and often becomes angry with her because of them. She wants to know if it is possible for her husband to change into an alpha male, even though he has no desire to change and is not supportive of the positive changes she is making in her life. “The only way most people can become open to making changes in their lives is if they realize that their current belief system is no longer valid, or if they simply have “hit the wall” metaphorically in life. It’s usually when we hit rock bottom in our lives that we are forced to move in a new direction. Successful people know that reaching their full potential is the result of constantly pushing the boundaries outside of their current comfort zone. Stepping outside of your comfort zone involves taking risks that don’t necessarily lead to immediate success, but in the long run when you look back, they will have been absolutely necessary in order to become all that you’re capable of becoming. Ships are safe if they stay in the harbor, but ships were not built to stay safe in the harbor.” ~ Coach Corey Wayne If you have not read my book, “How To Be A 3% Man” yet, that would be a good starting place for you. Love Me for Who I Really Am

03:38
One of our greatest demands in love is that our partner should love us 'for who we really are'. It sounds Romantic enough, but in truth, none of us should ever expect another person to admire and adore us in our totality, with all our flaws and questionable sides. True love means being generous towards what is broken in ourselves and others - but not, for that matter, being expected to admire it all. They notice how you put off ringing your mother. They want you to be more adventurous in how you dress. Three times recently they said they want you to get a grip on your finances. They’ve also hinted they’d like you to take more of an interest in the children’s homework and to help to host more dinner parties. It doesn’t feel very pleasant. But, then again, they’re not alone: if you are honest with yourself, there is plenty about them that you would – ideally – like to change as well..." Robert Downey Jr. Is the GODFATHER of Avengers

11:59
There´s this beautiful word "mercurial" - and he is more than most other actors (Bill Murray is another) the definition of that. There´s something jazzy, liquid, quick-witted, truly electrical about him. He seems to dance through his best movies, not taking himself too seriously, he´s intelligent, even philosophical (in his interviews) without being pretentious. He improvises (jazzy, remember) a lot, and he really always seems as if his dialogue and actions are not written and rehearsed but rather just happen and are captured by the camera. One of his greatest performances was in the apparently little known James Toback movie (he often worked with him) Two Girls and a Guy. In it, he plays an actor-all-round-entertainer-everything who loves two women and he is a notorious liar. It´s one of the best movies about narcissism and his performance is mesmerizing, because there´s just such a wide range of emotions and ideas being expressed through his performance (and Heather Graham and Natasha Gregson Wagner, who are also great), for one thing his singing chops, his piano playing (and composition - Jazz!), his Shakespeare (Hamlet) and and and are all on display - not many actors can do all that - and make it seems the most natural thing. His performance in that is one of the greatest in cinematic history, and no one seems to know it. He´s also a brilliant comedic actor, on par with bona fide comedians (not to "reduce" them to that) like Bill Murray. There´s also something "old-fashioned" about him, he seems more like Cary Grant, Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson than like his age peers, he is also more like those older actors than any of his peers are like them. Things Happen When You Stop Drinking Alcohol for a Month

05:18
Many people love to unwind after a long day with a drink. Some set a whole day aside, and they plan to spend the entire day drinking. Most people think that social drinking isn't harmful to their health, and they are right. However, quitting drinking can change you in a number of ways. These 9 things happen when you stop drinking alcohol for a month. Anyone who has ever gone to a bar for a night of drinking knows that it can be expensive. Depending on where you are drinking, beers can range between $4 and $7 per bottle. Mixed drinks can run you between $5 and $10 each. If you enjoy taking a shot every now and again, it will increase your bar tab even more. If you quit drinking for a month, you can save up to $400. That's a good chunk of change. Just because you pass out from drinking, it doesn't mean that you are getting a good night's sleep. When you are passed out, you can't get into REM sleep, which is the stage of sleep that benefits your body the most. Many people who go to bed after a night of drinking report a night of broken sleep, which also isn't helpful for your body and mind. Alcohol causes you to become dehydrated, which isn't good for your skin. When you become dehydrated, your skin gets dried out. This has a negative effect on the appearance of your skin. It can also make it feel dry. When you quit drinking, your skin won't lose any moisture, which will make you look younger, and your skin will feel softer. Alcohol is full of empty calories. The calories in drinks differ, but they have no nutritional value. By the end of a full day of drinking, you can have consumed over 2,000 calories. If you drink several times a month, you can start packing on the pounds. After a month without alcohol, you will find that you have lost a significant amount of weight the next time you step on the scale. If you have ever spend a night drinking, you know that the next day, you may feel that you are in an "alcohol fog." When this happens, you can be easily distracted. Trying to focus on something can be almost impossible. The alcohol fog also makes short periods of time feel much longer than they actually are. Performing a task that takes just a minute or two can feel like you have been working at it for hours. The alcohol fog usually lasts only a day or two, but if you quit drinking for a month, your mind will be completely clear. When you aren't in an alcohol fog, you can be more productive during the day. If you are a drinker, you likely associate all fun activities with alcohol. For example, if you are going to play cards, adding alcohol makes it more fun. If you are going bowling, it isn't as fun without a few beers. If you quit drinking for a month, you will find ways to have fun without alcohol being involved. During this time, you might also be able to find new fun pastimes that you never thought you would enjoy when you were a drinker. A month away from alcohol can help you discover new interests and hobbies. After a night of drinking, it can take up to two days for the hangover to wear off, and for you to start feeling like yourself again. You might not be hungover to the point where you can't get out of bed, but the headaches, the sluggishness, and the overall lousy feeling can linger for days. If you stop drinking for a month, you will feel healthy all month long. When you are drinking one night or more every week, it is hard to recognize your drinking patterns. If you stop drinking for a month, you will be able to understand your relationship with alcohol better, and when you depend on it the most. This can help change your patterns if you start drinking again after the 30 days. If you are a drinker, you have likely heard people tell you that you couldn't stop drinking if you tried. It is often non-drinkers who say things like this. If you wonder if they are right, quitting for a month will prove to you and to the naysayers that you can stop drinking whenever you feel like it. Not only will this give you a sense of achievement, but it will also allow you to tell the naysayers to shove it the next time they accuse you of not being able to give up alcohol. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Facts Verse: http://bit.ly/FactsVerse ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/factsverse/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/factsverse/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/factsverse6030/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.factsverse.com

Well being during our times doesn't come easily, it is a constant effort. Making the right effort is the key. There is a level / a frequency in your mind that goes beyond the regular/thinking mind. How to loose your mind and create a new one!!!! - Dr Joe Dispenza

28:24
http://www.drjoedispenza.com/ Joseph Dispenza D.C. Neuroscientist, chiropractor, lecturer and author Helping You Break the Habit of Being Yourself Joe Dispenza, D.C., studied biochemistry at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. He also holds a BS degree with an emphasis in Neuroscience. Dr. Dispenza also received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at Life University in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Dispenza's postgraduate training and continuing education has been in neurology; neuroscience; brain function and chemistry; cellular biology; memory formation; and aging and longevity. He is an invited member of Who's Who in America, an honorary member of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the recipient of a Clinical Proficiency Citation for clinical excellence in doctor-patient relationships from Life University, and a member of Pi Tau Delta -- the International Chiropractic Honor Society. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Dispenza has lectured in 24 different countries on six continents educating people about the role and function of the human brain. He has taught thousands of people how to re-program their thinking through scientifically proven neuro-physiologic principles. As a result, this information has taught many individuals to reach their specific goals and visions by eliminating self-destructive habits. His approach, taught in a very simple method, creates a bridge between true human potential and the latest scientific theories of neuroplasticity. He explains how thinking in new ways, as well as changing beliefs, can literally rewire one's brain. The premise of his work is founded in his total conviction that every person on this planet has within them, the latent potential of greatness and true unlimited abilities. His first book, Evolve Your Brain: The Science of Changing Your Mind connects the subjects of thought and consciousness with the brain, the mind, and the body. The book explores "the biology of change." That is, when we truly change our mind, there is a physical evidence of change in the brain. As an author of several scientific articles on the close relationship between the brain and the body, Dr. Dispenza ties information together to explain the roles these functions play in physical health and disease. His latest DVD release of Evolve Your Brain: The Science of Changing Your Mind, which was filmed in Australia, is based on the book and looks at the ways in which the human brain can be used to affect reality through the mastery of thought. He also sits as an invited editorial advisor of Explore Magazine. In his research into spontaneous remissions, Dr. Dispenza has found similarities in people who have experienced so-called miraculous healings, showing that they have actually changed their mind, which then changed their health. Dr. Dispenza has also developed a powerful one day course, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, focused on helping organizations teach employees how to change. Leaders are asking employees to break old habits that are no longer useful or productive and create new ones that better support the needs of a 21st century organization. New and better habits can be hard to create. Bad or poor habits can be hard to break. This course is different from other change programs because it is grounded in the discoveries of neuroscience. Once people understand how the brain works, change comes more easily. One of the scientists, researchers, and teachers featured in the award winning film, "What the BLEEP Do We Know!?," He also has guest appearances in the theatrical directors cut, "What the BLEEP Down the Rabbit Hole" as well as the extended Quantum Edition DVD set, "What the BLEEP Down the Rabbit Hole". When not traveling and writing, he is busy seeing patients at his chiropractic clinic near Olympia, Washington. 6 Ways to Protect Your Smart Phone From Being Hacked

09:20
How to prevent hackers from stealing your phone data? As smartphones gain more functions, we become more and more involved with them. Sometimes there’s even your whole life in one small device, and that’s reason enough to care about it a lot! If you think that your phone is your own private zone, you may be very wrong. So far, there is no such device that can’t be hacked. Thieves and scammers invent new schemes almost every day, and protecting your personal data can be hard. So how can you make those villains stay out of your life? This might seem risky because you never know whether a call is important, but better safe than sorry. If you do happen to answer such a call, make sure you check all the information the caller provides before you do anything else. - Remember that you should never visit any websites or call any numbers you see in random texts before checking them with your bank. Phone numbers are easily forged today, so it can look like a trusted number but instead be just a dummy. - This particular phone number calls you with a single aim, though: to fish your money from you. It calls you and gives exactly one ring before hanging up. The scammers do it in the hope you don’t notice. If you really don’t, you call back, and a large sum of money is immediately charged to your account. - To not find yourself in an unpleasant situation, first of all remember that you should never tell anyone your PIN or CVC number. Even your bank can’t request this information — it’s completely private. If a bank employee asks you to say it, then it’s not a bank employee. Simply hang up. - Remember those texting schemes when you received a message from your “relative” saying they’re in trouble and need money? Your only way out of this scheme is to call back after the criminals hang up. If someone’s managed to forge a number to call you, fortunately, it doesn’t work the other way around. So when you call your mom, you will hear your actual mom, not someone with her voice. - You should never provide any confidential information to anyone at all, even your bank or service provider. They don’t need your personal data to manipulate your account on their side. If someone asks for it, they’re most probably trying to get their hands on your money.
