It is part of the cruciferous vegetable family. Cruciferous vegetables are unique in that they are rich sources of glucosinolates, sulfur-containing compounds that impart a pungent aroma and spicy (some say bitter) taste. IC3 and DIM: Indole-3-Carbinol is a byproduct of glucosinolate and diindonylmethane is a byproduct of IC3. Glucose a simple sugar regulated by the hormone insulin that provides the body’s cells and tissues with energy. Fructose is also a simple sugar and is the sweetest of all sugars and unlike other sugars is not regulated by insulin and metabolised and stored only in liver. However, the liver has a limited capacity to store fructose (liver capacity for fructose at the high end is about 50grams) and excess is readily converted to blood fats called triglycerides these are transported in blood and deposited into fat cells. Fructose is found in all types of soft drinks and is the main sugar in fruits including. Juicing fruits or drinking fruit juices is a so called healthy way to start the day, however, when a piece of fruit is juiced, the fibre and sugar content are separated. Typically, we drink the sugar and throw away the fibre along with its many benefits of fibre. Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the build-up of extra fat in liver cells - not caused by alcohol. o Most common of all liver disorders o Present in 75% of individuals with Obesity and type 2 diabetes o Overweight or obesity o Insulin resistance, in which your cells don't take up sugar in response to the hormone insulin o High blood sugar (hyperglycemia), indicating prediabetes or actual type 2 diabetes o High levels of fats, particularly triglycerides, in the blood.
