Do you feel that they speak too fast and most of the time you can’t catch what they’re saying? If your answer is yes, then this video is for you. In this lesson, I am going to give you 10 proven methods to improve your English listening skills. I will also give you lots of links to free online resources for you to practice. The techniques that I share with you will help you to understand native speakers when you watch TV, movies or listen to the radio. They will help you develop your listening ability for exams like the IELTS, TOEFL or PTE. And finally, these methods will help you to understand people better in real- life conversations. So let’s start. Number one is listen to English every day. You want to know the secret to great listening skills? It’s lots and lots of listening practice. Remember that the more you listen, the better you get at listening. The reason you find listening difficult is probably that you’re not practicing enough. My advice is that you listen to English for at least one hour per day. Set aside a specific time, maybe an hour in the morning or in the evening and during this time, just listen to English. With this type of practice, I have seen great improvement in my students’ listening skills within 2-3 months. A great way to do this is to watch the news. The TV is a good source of news but since we’re on YouTube, you should know that you can watch a lot of English news right here. Major news networks like BBC, CNN etc. have YouTube channels where they put out short news videos that are ideal for improving your listening. You will find all the links in the description below. Tip number three is listen to the radio. The radio is great for listening because you can do it while you are doing other things. You can listen as you’re driving, while working out, while you’re cleaning the house. You can listen with a radio set, on your computer, or even on your smartphone. Now, if you listen on your phone while driving, please be careful, please don’t operate your phone while you’re driving. OK, in my opinion, BBC radio is the best radio service for English learners and it’s available for listening online free of cost. There are many different BBC radio stations available; BBC Radio 4 is particularly good because it has a lot of informative shows. Again, links are below. Another highly useful listening resource is podcasts. A podcast is basically a radio show that you can find only on the internet. The reason I love podcasts is that there are many shows that specialize in particular topics. This means there are podcasts just for English learners. These audio lessons will not only help you to improve your listening skills but you can also learn about grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and more. I have put links to some very good free podcasts in the description below. You can also go online and find shows related to your own interests. You should make podcasts a regular part of your listening practice. Number five is watch movies in English. This is one of my favorite methods for improving listening skills because this is how I did it.

📝 TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR LISTENING SKILLS 👂👈

03:31
⬇SUMMARY AND LINKS IN THE DESCRIPTION! ⬇ FREE 🎧 📖 AUDIO BOOKS, 🎶 SONGS WITH LYRICS, 🎬 MOVIES, 🎦 SERIES AND 📺 VIDEOS WITH SUBTITLES. ⬇ In this video, I explain what reduction and linking are in phonetics, and how they make it difficult to understand real spoken English for EFL or ESL learners. Reduction in phonetics occurs when the acoustic sound of a word changes into a simpler, more relaxed or less stressed sound. It mostly affects less important words in speech, such as prepositions, conjunctions and articles. Some examples are TO, A and AND (SHOWN IN THE VIDEO). Linking is the way a word links to the next one in oral speech. Example: (Can I?) becomes (canai?) My recommendation for you is to practice a lot with audio books, songs with lyrics on the screen, movies, series and videos with subtitles, thus you will be able to compare what you read with what you listen to and PAY ATTENTION to pronunciation elements such as REDUCTION AND LINKING. Communication Skills - The 6 Keys Of Powerful Communication

19:49
Communication Skills - The six essential components you need to master in order to become a great communicator. The Ultimate Life Purpose Course - Create Your Dream Career: http://www.actualized.org/life-purpose-course Leo's Top 140 Self Help Books http://www.actualized.org/books Full Video Transcript Here: http://www.actualized.org/articles/communication-skills Video Summary: Issues in communication can be devastating to careers and intimate relationships. Conversely, remedying communication issues will reap rewards for your whole lifetime. Six key areas sum up the most common failures that contribute to communication issues. The six pillars of effective communication are: assertiveness, authenticity, open-mindedness, empathy, clarity and listening. If you have something to say, say it assertively, so you will be taken seriously. Identify your values, boundaries, and own agenda, so that you can communicate them authentically. Smiling and being afraid to contradict someone may be interpreted as being inauthentic. Be open-minded to the positions of others, which helps you grow as a person. Be empathetic to your listener, which builds common ground. The more clarity you use in communicating, the less likely it will be misconstrued. And don't just hear; demonstrate active listening. How to develop your Communication Skills | International Keynote Speaker Simerjeet Singh on how to improve your communication skills | Law Of Paying The Price | Coach On Campus 8 | Tips For Effective Communication Skills International motivational speaker, Simerjeet Singh, brings out to us a very important aspect without which our life will become numb. COMMUNICATION is an art to express our feelings and emotions to others, but a successful person is a one who is able to communicate well. Simerjeet renders tips for effective communication skills by illustrating the LAW OF PAYING THE PRICE, where he emphasizes to put in the best efforts to receive the desired outcome. As the old saying goes, Communication Works For Those, Those Who Work At It! Continue to put in same efforts, the outcome too will continue to be the same. Therefore, change in efforts to change the outcome. Simerjeet also clarifies the misconception between developing effective communication skills and effective English speaking. Learning Spanish: Why is it so Hard to Understand Spanish Speakers || Improve Listening Skills

10:08
Have you noticed it is hard to understand Spanish speakers when they are speaking with each other? Here we'll explain why, and how you can improve your listening skills in Spanish. There will be a Spanish listening activity in Spanish towards the end of the video. Also, you will find more intermediate and advanced listening activities on our channel. More useful tips: http://www.whynotspanish.com/spanish/train-improve-listening-skills-4-steps/ Transcript and quiz: http://www.whynotspanish.com/spanish/listening-activity-draw-dog-transcript/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In this video, we are talking about tips on how to improve your listening skills in Spanish. These tips will help you better understand Spanish speakers in conversations. First, let's start with the why. Most Spanish speakers do not enunciate when they speak. Another reason is that Spanish is the second fastest language in the world after Japanese. So when you combine those together it can make for a lot of difficulty understanding. There are two types of listening passive and active listening. Passive listening is where you have things like Spanish music in the background but are not really paying close attention. This is could help you learn the musicality of the language but will not really help you that much. We recommend trying to do active listening. This is where you listen to something and take action like you would in a conversation. Here are our tips to practice active listening. 1. Have a conversation in Spanish When you are having a conversation always look to say something back and expand. 2. Get scripts or subtitles Get scripts or subtitles of what you are watching or listening. When you are reading while you hear it will help you better understand by being able to see the sentence structure and better understand the context. Also if you are listening to music try to find the lyrics for the song and sing along. 3. Slow it down When you listen to slower versions of the audio you have more of a chance to understand. You can do this on YouTube by going to the settings box (the little gear wheel) and then click on speed. Write the words you understand down then go back and watch it at normal speed to see if you can pick out the words from what you have written down. 4. Predict the content Try to predict the vocabulary that you might see in the video you are about to watch. Look up any words that you think you might need or that will be used. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🔔Subscribe to our channel --------- https://goo.gl/iV43XT Visit us / Visítanos: www.whynotspanish.com 📸Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whynotspanish/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/whynotspanish/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Equipment We Use to make the videos (amazon affiliate links) 1.
