How to use BIM objects in a BIM model - BIMobject® Talks
This video is an educational video about how to use BIM objects in a BIM model. You simply download a BIM object from the BIMobject® Portal, in this case pavers from Benders. Then load it in to your BIM system. Here we're using ArchiCAD. The paver we have here is pretty simple geometry, but it also contains a lot of information regarding the object. All the information is obtained by the BIMobject® Portal. It contains article number, manufacturer, country of manufacturer, date of publishing, sizes, weights etc. We even have information regarding links back to the product pages and the BIMobject® Portal. There is also related information about the objects - materials for example. There is also a list of classifications: categories and parametres by BIMobject® , IFC Classification and UNSPSC codes. The video shows how quick and easy it is to use tools like rotation and multiplication to do paving patterns in the BIM model with the BIM object, which you then can view in both 2D and 3D. You can even download patterns from the BIMobject® Portal, that are actually done by manufacturers. You can easily reshape the stones, in this instance. This helps you when you later are going to list the bill of materials. All of the stones will be listed and then it's easy for you to go ahead and order the products. Furthermore, as a Designer or Architect, using real products will help you extensively to convey your design intentions to your client. This is our first introduction to the usage of BIM objects. Thank you for your time. Visit our portal on: http://bimobject.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/BIMobject Facebook: https://facebook.com/BIMobject

BIM in Construction has Many Uses
Building Information Management or BIM has many uses in Civil Engineering Construction. Presently 3D models are used to coordinate design inputs from the various disciplines. 3D Visualisations and Animations can be included in technical films and PowerPoint presentations and used for the following purposes. Tender Presentations showing how a project will be constructed. Including sequence, methods, plant and timelines. Constructability Studies Knowledge Capture and Sharing Technical & Safety Training Project Familiarisation Trouble Shooting, Brainstorming, and aid for decision making Preparing Method Statements and Safety Risk Assessments Programming and getting commitment from the Site Team Sequencing work activities Organising resources by seeing what plant and manpower is required and when. Proving Delay and Disruption Entitlements Reviewing and recording progress Producing Infographics for Workshops, meetings and conferences. Company Promotional purposes In construction the main problem is turning ideas (i.e. Drawings) into reality. Most people working in construction are Do-ers who are better at walking the walk than talking the talk. Do-ers need to have a mental picture of what has to be built with the sequence, methods and resources required, so they can understand what has to be done and when, effectively create something and solve problems, for this reason visual learning is effective and the best learning style. Another problem in construction is knowledge and know-how gained on construction sites is not captured and shared. Furthermore site staff and workers need to be trained on what to expect when they go onto site and the safety risks and control measures to reduce the probability of injury and accidents. As a way of overcoming the above I make films with 3D Animations, infographics, timelines, photographs and video footage to show how work activities and projects were and are constructed. These projects range from airports, seaports, motorways and railways to oil and gas plants & pipelines, metros, in-sit-u piles, bridge construction, post-tensioning, precast yard, quarry, roofing and more. The films fall into the category of ‘edutainment’ and contain engineering educational value which site members find of great interest. For the past six years, I’ve been working for international construction companies in the Middle East on billion-dollar oil and gas, motorway, sea ports and aviation projects. As part of my work, I was asked to write articles and make PowerPoint presentations showing how it was intended to carry out works containing methods, sequence and the resources. This developed into producing short films containing 3D visualizations & animations, photographs and video footage. The films are used for tender presentations, for supporting contractual claims, as site inductions to familiarise staff and workers with projects, to show progress, to demonstrate construction issues with proposed designs and for company promotional purposes. The films are generally shown at workshops, site meetings, conferences and tender presentations. Recently, for example, I prepared a film for a major international oil and gas company as part of a constructability presentation, showing how a gas-processing plant and pipelines will be constructed that included the resources to be employed and timelines for the various activities. Also 3D Animations can be used for technical and Safety Induction Training to familiarise new employees with projects, also can be used to evaluate and analyse risks and to produce financial and safety risk assessments. NBS BIM Toolkit Explained
Join Stephen Hamil, Director of Design and Innovation at NBS, for a comprehensive explanation of the new BIM Toolkit – the easy way to define who is doing what and when on BIM Level 2 projects! Earlier this year, NBS and the UK Government BIM Task Group went on-the-road to the UK’s regions to demonstrate the Toolkit. Filmed at University of Westminster in March 2015, Stephen’s 45 minute presentation previewed the Toolkit which is now live. Support information for this free-to-use resource is available at: https://toolkit.thenbs.com/articles The Toolkit forms a key part of the UK Government BIM Task Group’s five year programme to deliver BIM Level 2. NBS successfully launched the beta version in April 2015 having won the Government’s competition to develop a free-to-use digital toolkit for BIM in September last year. Equally applicable to public or private sector projects, the Toolkit offers a straight-forward and intuitive way of defining, managing and validating responsibility for information development and delivery through a project’s lifecycle. In the video, Stephen takes us through the context of the UK Government’s strategy before outlining how the tool supports BIM Level 2 working at each step. “The Toolkit fits within the PAS 1192-2 [for project delivery] and PAS 1192-3 [for asset management] information delivery cycles” explains Stephen. “It’s about providing a better service to the Client in a more efficient way. It’s just trying to put together the things that the industry has always done in a digitally structured format”. 1. Assessment and Need (from 7.13) - From the outset of a new project, the Toolkit enables Clients (Employers) to clearly and comprehensively define their information requirements. That ensures that all parties clearly understand the information that a Client requires to make decisions during the project delivery phase and ultimately to operate and maintain their asset over its lifecycle. Clear requirements in place from the outset give project teams focus and direction and avoid data being generated needlessly. Creating an EIR can be a daunting prospect for Clients, especially for those that do not procure built assets on a regular basis. The BIM Toolkit uses plain language questions to guide them through the process in a logical and intuitive way. Once created, projects can be saved as templates to standardise future schemes. Once created in the BIM Toolkit, information from any stage can be exported out into a variety of formats. “That‘s a really important feature” said Stephen “We haven’t produced a single environment where teams can’t get their information out – it’s about interoperability”. 2. Procurement (from 16.15) - With clear requirements in place, the next phase of the Toolkit enables Clients to tender their project to providers and for those providers to respond with details of their teams and the services they offer. The result is standardised responses from bidders enabling Clients to evaluate and compare returns on a level playing field. 3. Production (from 18.00) - From that basis, the project moves into the design and construction phases. A digital plan of work is created with the selected team that clearly defines deliverables and timescales throughout the project. It grows with the BIM Execution Plan and Master Information Delivery Plan as the project cycle progresses. Stephen clarifies: “the digital plan of work is about defining information requirements – it’s not doing your drawings, specifying or cost analysis – its clear job is to define who is doing what and when”. The Toolkit offers fantastic functionality in the production phase, enabling teams to agree levels of detail, assign tasks and develop proposals within a clear document classification structure. 4. Handover and Use (from 40.12) - Moving from the project delivery phase to handover and then asset management, the Toolkit enables Clients to ultimately check that the information they specified at the outset has been accurately delivered. “It offers them well-structured digital information that can be pushed into asset management systems. Digital information at hand-over and not just boxes of paper” said Stephen. The BIM Toolkit was conceived by HM Government’s BIM Task Group and initially funded by Innovate UK. Development of the tool was led by the NBS team working in close partnership with BIM Academy, RICS, Microsoft, BDP, Mott MacDonald, Newcastle University and Laing O’Rourke. Further support was provided by APM, BIFM, CIBSE, CIOB, ICE, IStructE and RIBA. Why not start now? You can create a project for free with the BIM Toolkit here: https://toolkit.thenbs.com. It is also easy to keep up to date with progress and implementation by following @TheNBS and the #BIMToolkit hashtag on Twitter. © 2015 The B1M Limited | Share + Inspire

Information and Data Models Intro - Chapter 1
Introduction to Database Concepts and Data Modeling An information model in software engineering is a representation of concepts and the relationships, constraints, rules, and operations to specify data semantics for a chosen domain of discourse. Typically it specifies relations between kinds of things, but may also include relations with individual things. It can provide sharable, stable, and organized structure of information requirements or knowledge for the domain context. conceptual data model | data modeling | conceptual model | what is model | database models | what is a model | logic design | what is data modeling | logical data model | physical model | conceptual data model | relational data model | concept model | types of data models | data modeling techniques | physical data model | information model | data model definition | conceptual model definition | conceptual model examples | what is a data model | data modelling concepts | what is a conceptual model More Articles, Scripts and How-To Papers on http://www.aodba.com

Building information modeling
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. Building Information Models (BIMs) are files (often but not always in proprietary formats and containing proprietary data) which can be exchanged or networked to support decision-making about a place. Current BIM software is used by individuals, businesses and government agencies who plan, design, construct, operate and maintain diverse physical infrastructures, from water, wastewater, electricity, gas, refuse and communication utilities to roads, bridges and ports, from houses, apartments, schools and shops to offices, factories, warehouses and prisons, etc. This video is targeted to blind users. Cloud Computing Services Models - IaaS PaaS SaaS Explained
https://ecoursereview.com/cloud-computing-pros-and-cons-for-business-it/ 3 Types of Cloud Computing Services: IaaS PaaS SaaS Explained You Might Wonder – What Is Cloud Computer: #Cloudcomputing is a set of forms that contain certain elements that allows for on-demand, network access, scalability, and shared resources. It's a platform for managing, storing, and processing data online through the internet. Some of the cloud computing features include the following: - On-Demand Services – Available when you need it - Network Access – When using the internet as your medium - Shared Resources – All resources are gathered together and used by multiple customers - Scalability - The ability of a computer system to adapt to increasing demands The Three Delivery Models: Cloud computing provides different services based on three delivery configurations. When they are arranged in a pyramid structure, they are in the order of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. The Three Services: #SaaS - Software as a Service This service provides on-demand pay per use of the application software for users and is independent of a platform. You do not have to install software on your computer, unlike a license paid program. Cloud runs a single occurrence of the software, making it available for multiple end-users allowing the service to be cheap. All the computing resources that are responsible for delivering SaaS are totally managed by the vendor. The service is accessible through a web browser or lightweight client applications. End customers use SaaS regularly. The most popular SaaS providers offer the following products and services: Google Ecosystem including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Microsoft Office 365, and SalesForce. #PaaS - Platform as a Service This service is mostly a development environment that is made up of a programming language execution environment, an operating system, web server, and database. It provides an environment where users can build, compile, and run their program without worrying about an hidden infrastructure. You manage the data and application resources. All the other resources are managed by the vendor. This is the realm for developers. PaaS providers offer the following products and services: Amazon Web services, Elastic Beanstalk, Google App Engine, Windows Azure, Heroku, and Force.com #IaaS - Infrastructure as a Service This service provides the architecture and infrastructure. It provides all computing resources but in a virtual environment so multiple users can have access. The resources include data storage, virtualization, servers, and networking. Most vendors are responsible for managing them. If you use this service, you are responsible for handling other resources including applications, data, runtime, and middleware. This is mostly for SysAdmins. IaaS providers offer the following products and services: Amazon EC2, Go Grid, and Rackspace.com. Here is a short list of some companies that use cloud computing: iCloud – Cloud from Apple is for Apple products. You can backup and store everything from multimedia to documents online. The content is then smoothly integrated onto your devices. Amazon's AWS - When you talk about companies using cloud computing, Amazon Web Services leads the pack. It offers IaaS and PaaS to all their customers. Google Cloud – This cloud platform is universal for Google's enormous ecosystem and for other products such as Microsoft Office. It provides storage of data and collaboration along with other services that are included in their cloud computing suite. Microsoft Azure – Offered by Microsoft, it provides SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS for its software and developer tools. If you have used Office 365, then you have used SaaS. IBM Smart Cloud - This offers private, public, and hybrid distribution platforms providing a full range of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS cloud computing services for businesses. The pay as you go platform generates profits for IBM. New technology is popping up all over the internet and Cloud seems to be on the rise. This is only scratching the surface on what is already available and what will become available throughout 2017. --- 3 Types of Cloud Computing Services - IaaS PaaS SaaS Explained https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36zducUX16w #CloudComputingServices #CloudComputing --- Follow us on https://www.facebook.com/EcourseReviews https://twitter.com/EcourseReviews https://plus.google.com/+Ecoursereview/posts https://ecoursereview.com/

Making a Simple Animal out of Clay
This is how I teach my grade one to grade seven students to make animals out of clay, starting out with the most basic shapes and then moving up to more complex ones. Process: 1. have a good photo/picture of the animal in side view handy 2. look for the most basic shapes in the animal 3. keeping proportions in mind, recreate those simple shapes in clay, e.g. oval for body, columns for legs etc. Note: for long legged animals will need to make legs much thicker than in nature so they can support the body, cannot put supporting armature in pottery clay as clay shrinks as it dries and armatures cannot be fired 4. make sure all attachments are smooth and seamless like in nature 5. look for more complex shapes in animal, the more shapes you see and the more shapes you make, the more real your animal will be 6. make a thick clay base and attach animal, put clay base on a cardboard or plastic base so easier to carry and move, add accessories to base to make sculpture more interesting, can add another animal and make something happening, use imagination 7. hollow animal out, needed to allow clay to dry properly, otherwise it may explode in kiln, can close large hole made by hollowing and then make smaller holes to allow air circulation to outside 8. allow to dry for one to two weeks, do not touch during this time, do not want it to break accidentally 9. fire in kiln, local community pottery studio will do this for you for a small fee, can also buy clay and tools from them 10. glue sculpture to wooden base and repair any breakages 11. fill in cracks with self-hardening/air drying clay and smooth out attachment to wooden base 12. allow to dry for 24 hours 13. paint with acrylics, starting with large areas first and then moving to fine details like stripes, spots, eyes later 14. allow paint to dry, then spray with protective varnish Note to Teachers: 1st lesson: one and a half hours long, choose an animal, with picture brainstorm shapes on board, using guided practice have everyone make the same animal, step-by-step altogether 2nd lesson: each student brings a picture of an animal of their choice to class, review and brainstorm basic shapes of several very different animals on board, students create sculpture using independent practice with teacher assisting individually when needed 3rd, 4th lesson: demonstrate painting of sculpture to class, students paint their sculptures To save time I always hollow out the clay animals, make the wooden bases, attach the fired sculptures to them and repair the sculptures for the kids. I work on contract so this is a better way for me to do it. If you are a regular classroom teacher then you may have the time to show them how to hollow and repair sculptures, although with the younger kids this may be more hassle than it is worth it, and you are better off doing it yourself. Note: with my students, I get them to add googly eyes to the sculpture once they finish painting, this makes the kids' sculptures come alive :) Note on Mouse: That is little Matilda when she was around three weeks old. I handraised her from a tiny pinky. I have many videos on YouTube of her, she is quite the little character :) Music by Rob Costlow (L.A. Passing By) licensed from Magnatune

Home Made Ground Cover for Model Railroads
Sometimes the best materials for modelling with are right under our noses, fallen leaves and bark that have been drying on the ground are a great example of natural material that we can use on our model railroads and dioramas. I’ve been using them for a while with fantastic results, simply gather up dead leaves and bark then ground them down to a fine texture, the beauty of this is it works for all scales. Depending on the scale you model simply sift out the larger pieces until your left with the size you want. I’ve used this for HO scale as well as N scale and both give a realistic result. This process is very simple and will most definitely save you a lot of dollars. Just be sure to use dead leaves and avoid green leaves that have not completely dried out as they will change color over time on your layout. Don’t forget to check out http://www.bouldercreekrailroad.com for more information, tutorials and modelling articles If you wish to help and support these videos also check out http://www.patreon.com/luketowan every little bit helps me stay motivated and continue to produce these videos for all to view.

Welcome to a very special video- an overview of the models from the Model Room of the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society. The meeting was held from May 9-13 2018 in Altoona, PA. Some notes on the video: -Lighting in the room wasn't ideal for photography. -I only had my cell phone with me, so excuse the quality of the images. -I did try to improve the images in post. However, only so much can be done with a cell phone JPEG. -Due to my processing, please do not critically judge appearance- most likely it is my processing NOT the model! -Not all models are shown- I didn't photograph all of the models. -I don't claim to be a professional video producer- did the best I could with my limited video editing skill set. I was negligent in noting the names of all the modelers, so for several of the models I do not know the modeler's name. I apologize for this oversight. With those caveats out of the way- sit back and enjoy! The PRR modelers are, in my opinion, some of the best and most talented one will find. These models are all wonderfully done, detailed, painted and weathered- true modeling professionalism! If you wish to see more outstanding Pennsy modeling, please visit the PRRT&HS website at prrths.com. There you can read the FREE PDF magazine "The Keystone Modeler". Scent Tins - Prelude to Scent Article Training
This video clip shows how I start my dogs on competition obedience scent work. I first start with metal hinged scent tins prior to teaching the actual articles. You can get these tins from Speciality Bottle. I teach a nose target first, just so my dog has some form of indicating the correct article and that I know he is committed to that article. Altho not shown in the video, I do prefer to do this exercise on a 6 foot lead. I like the dog to get used to me following in behind after them. Key word "after", once you send your dog, you follow, do not go with your dog at the same time or they become reliant on you going with them. Rather give your search word and then follow your dog. When I go to teach my dumbbell scent articles, I will do the same procedure, dog on 6 foot lead, sent and follow. With the dumbbell scent articles however I do not want a nose target, at this time I need my dog to have an excellent and steady hold and a dedicated retrieve first. There is more detailed information on training articles on my Step by Step Open/Utility DVD. Visit our store www.tntkennels.com

How to Get Your Kid Started in Acting and Modeling- Intro Video
Full course here: http://www.principlesofincrease.com/ChildStar Original Post: http://www.principlesofincrease.com/2016/04/20/kid-model-commerical-actors/ One of my most popular articles is on how my daughter made $1,000 with my iPhone (actually it’s close to $2,000 now.) I’m going to spoil it for you if you haven’t read it: she used the phone to record an audition for a voice-over job and got it. Since then, I get so many questions on how she got started. If you watch the story unfold, Hollywood Style, it happens like this: a family is out eating pizza and a talent scout will approach them saying, “Your child has the “IT” factor! Sign with me and I’ll make them famous!” Then the child goes on to be famous like Michael Jackson. You may assume since this has never happened to your family, that this really isn’t the career meant for your child. Despite, what you’ve seen and heard, there is actually a more civil, realistic way to get started. Both of our kids have made decent money in print modeling, TV and radio voice-over jobs. My first child didn’t get an agent at first. It took a few tries, actually. Then the photographer who did her first set of comp cards, told her she wasn’t the cutest child he had seen and then went on to insult her hair. Pretty brutal, right? It didn’t deter me. I’m a goal-oriented, praying mama who really wants the best for my children. So I kept going and alas, she landed an agent and started booking work. The youngest was let in because she was a sibling of someone who had proven “bookable.” In fact, she just got her letter to join the actors’ union. It’s pretty cool for a 7 year old. But any way, I want to share with you how we got started with all of this. It’s not a guarantee that anything will happen for your child, but rather information to guide you. Hope it helps! Make Sure This Career is Right for Your Family Don’t try to live vicariously through your child. If you want a career as an entertainer, then YOU get started, don’t force your child. But if you notice that your child really enjoys not only acting but the pursuit of acting, then be your child’s biggest supporter. If you are a busy parent with lots of obligations, this might not be for you. Make sure you and your family design can support the demands of this career. I would say that home schooling has made it a little easier for us to deal with the hectic schedule, but in the end be sure you are ready to carve out time and energy for this. Get An Agent This is a great start, but not essential. Do a google search to find agents near you and submit your child’s snap shots (not fancy photos just yet.) If you are having trouble getting an agent, no worries. There are back-door methods to getting your child started. More information on that below. Related: Get Your Child Started in Acting & Entertainment Start Building Your Child’s Resume Even if your child doesn’t get paid opportunities, you can still help them practice for their big break. When it’s slow for my daughter, I make sure she is practicing piano, working her youtube channel and giving her all in her traveling singing troupe. Just because these are not paid opportunities, doesn’t mean they don’t matter. Get Some Help That help would be me! Since I get so many questions about how to get kids started, I have created an eCourse that answers questions you might have as a parent on getting your child started as a model, actor or paid entertainer in general. Instead of sending out the same canned email to parents all the time, I have just packaged everything together that you need to know including: Getting an agent Avoiding scams Learning to self-submit for roles without an agent Deciding to go for bigger markets and bigger roles How to build a resume for your child If you are interested, the class I created is hosted on my FAVORITE teaching platform, Udemy.com. To sign up for the course, use this $20 coupon (it’s normally $40 and there are only 1,000 coupons, so get going quickly!) http://www.principlesofincrease.com/ChildStar

Topic Clusters: The Next Evolution of Content Strategy
People don’t search like they used to. Does your SEO strategy reflect this changing behavior? Meet the topic cluster model: an SEO strategy that focuses on topics — as opposed to keywords — to improve your site’s architecture, make it easier for Google to discover related content, and ultimately, boost your search engine visibility. Learn more about the future of content strategy: http://hubs.ly/H07XZSs0 “Somerville restaurant” — It wasn’t long ago that you’d type some broken search term like this into Google. Now of course, you simply ask “Where should I go for dinner?” That’s because you assume search engines are smart enough to recognize intent. But does your SEO strategy reflect this changing search behavior? Meet the topic cluster model: An SEO strategy that focuses on topics — as opposed to keywords — to improve your site’s architecture, make it easier for Google to discover related content, and ultimately, boost your search engine visibility. Consider how the average website grows. You start with a homepage, product pages, and a blog. You decide to target a keyword, but learn there are more than 1,000 long-tail variations of that term, meaning you're stuck writing post after post to capture the search traffic. And in the end, your site becomes repetitive, bloated, and disorganized. In the topic cluster model, each grouping covers a single topic. You have one larger piece of content — we’ll call this the pillar — that broadly outlines the topic, and a defined group of cluster content focused on specific long-tail keywords. The pillar links to each cluster page, while the cluster links back to the pillar — each time with the same hyperlinked keyword. That way, when one page performs well, the entire topic cluster gets a boost. It’s all about helping web crawlers make connections. Topic clusters signal to Google that there’s a semantic relationship between the content — and more importantly — that you’re a trusted authority on the topic, worthy of a top spot. seo, blogging, content strategy, search engine optimization, future of seo, future of content, future of content marketing, future of content strategy, topic clusters, what are topic clusters, pillar cluster, seo 2017, content strategy 2017, topic clustering, site architecture, information architecture, rank on Google, how to rank on Google, topic modeling, content strategy for the web, blogging 2017, blog organization, blogging tips, blogging ideas, content marketing, seo for blogging, seo for bloggers, increase website traffic, increase traffic, semantic content models, semantic seo

How to Paint a Floating Fall Leaf with Poured Fluid Acrylic Paint
It's time for crisp days, stomping in puddles and falling leaves. Painting a floating leaf with poured fluid acrylics is always a surprise! This is an easy fluid acrylic painting, especially if you have some way to spin your painting. I'm using a wood lazy susan that is almost 34 years old. It is attached to a bigger board to keep it really stable when I give it a hard fast spin. Make sure to cover your area and if your spinner and canvas fit you can set it down in a large plastic tub to keep your area tidy. I'm using Decoart Pouring Medium that dries to a soft almost satin finish when mixed with the Decoart Americana Acrylic Paints. I love how these paintings take on a life of their own and lead me down paths I would never have thought to explore. I have a creative spirit that loves to explore and experiment with all kinds of Arts and Craft! I hope you have fun while you join me on my creative adventures! I'm also concerned with the possible issues down the line with the paint not forming a good bond with the surface because of the oils preventing proper adhesion. We all have to weigh the pros and cons of how we interact with our art supplies. Experimenting can be exciting and beautiful, but there can be consequences we don't know about yet.
