Sure, a lot of you starting now have some smarts, a good job, and are willing to work hard. All that sets you in the right direction, but over the long-term, over a multi-decade career that simply will not be enough to be truly successful. My 7 Key Success Factors for Business Networking There are two areas I want to review about networking: what makes it successful and how to actually do it! So, let’s review my seven key principles for how to do it successfully and then a five step plan of attack to execute those principles. 1. It’s an all-the-time thing. 2. Give value first. Take second. 3. Give more than you take. 4. Do it live. 5. Do what you say you’re going to do—build trust. 6. Move it forward and expand their network. 7. Build a systematic plan that allows you to execute. My 5-Step Plan to Build a Healthy Professional Network A. Set your networking goals. There are many, but let’s talk about four: • Educations and advancement of your knowledge • Camaraderie • Job hunting • Grow customers, partnerships, etc. B. Build your relationship map by doing your research. C. Identify 60 to 100 people you can connect with who can help you meet your goals. D. Prepare standard messages you can modify. E. “E” is for execute. Adjust your plan according. -------------------- ABOUT ANDREW -------------------- Andrew LaCivita is an internationally recognized executive recruiter, award-winning author, trainer, and founder and chief executive officer of milewalk and the milewalk Academy. People often tend to associate their "net worth" with their "network". Jose, however, believes that connecting with peers on a humanistic level and building relationships with people is much better for fostering a mutually supportive environment. Originally from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Jose Gutierrez came to the United States in 2010 to pursue his degree at Bentley University. During his time as a student leader and school spirit enthusiast, Jose quickly learned that connecting with his peers on a humanistic level was key to fostering a mutually supportive environment. Jose used the lifelong relationship he established to facilitate his transition from college student to full time employee. Networking - Building Personal Relationships in Business - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Small talk is always a challenge for almost everyone. At a business meeting, I do recommend that small talk be kept to a minimum when the meeting is actually on. You may wish to establish a personal relationship, but that takes time. So you establish your credentials first, your honor and integrity, and then you might lead into some personal things. You can ask open-ended question as long as it is not invasive. So you might say, the last time I met you Bill, you and your family were off to Italy for a vacation. Tell me about the highlights. So then he has an open window that he can respond but it is not to invasive. The idea is to have a light conversation but show that you remember the last scenarios and that your going to build gently into more questions. Many questions are inappropriate. It is a open-ended question and if you get asked a question that you really do not want to answer. Could just say, why do you ask.

Instead of just showing up, find out what the main event is, and it will help you gauge what kind of people may be in attendance. But regardless, never judge a book by it’s cover. You may find some of the most influential people hiding in plain sight. They do not raise attention, but will be responsible to helping you personally and professionally grow. Most importantly stay away from people who are not interested to learn about you. They usually end up being the narcissists and snakes that will waste your time and energy. About This Video This video shares 4 tips for those wanting to learn how to network. The basics are simple and the results are genuine friendships that will help you transform into the entrepreneur that you’d like to be. The first thing you should do in your quest to do business networking is to print business cards so that you can give them out whenever you are doing business networking. You don't just have to give out your business cards at networking events. Always have a few business cards with you so that whenever any conversation gets into business, you have a business card to hand to people. Remember, whatever you are doing, you are always doing business networking. Whenever the conversation steers towards business, be ready to segue into a plug for your business. But make sure to always take interest in whatever the other person with whom you are talking is working on. In fact, asking others about their business is how to do business networking correctly. The best way to segue into talking about your business is to ask the other person about their work, business or projects. Inevitably, they will ask for the same about you. Here is how to do business networking correctly so that it is effective to help you start and build business relationships. When you first meet people, show interest in the work of others, always offer to help the other person with whatever they are working on. Follow up the next day after taking the person's contact information. And don't forget, meeting people face to face is a very powerful way to start a business relationship. Additionally, there is quite a bit of business networking you can do online. Use Twitter and email to keep in touch with people and continue to maintain and build your business relationships. How To Build Business Relationships is a short and insightful training about the key distinction needed to build and effective and robust business network. How To Build Business Relationships: You're about to learn one of the most important ingredients for building successful professional relationships. Tom Peters, an amazing consultant and leading thinker in the area of business, says that relationships in business are everything. And he means everything. When you think about it, relationships are sometimes the difference between whether you get the job or promotion, or not. The quality of your relationships matters. The key to building a successful relationships is making sure that you are a significance giver, not a significance getter. A significance giver is someone who elevates the status of someone else, rather than pulling it down. One of my freinds recently told me a story about how he had a conversation with someone at a party, and this guy was sharing how great he was, how many properties he owns, how many businesses he has and so forth. Almost unconsciously, he was putting my friend down. What my friend said to him was, "Hey mate, are you in a relationship?" The guy was a bit taken aback and said, "No, I'm not." And my friend said, "I'll tell you why!" The reason why, is he pulls everyone down. I don't know about you, but for me, I don't want to hang out with people with whom, when I walk away from them, I feel less of myself. The key to building successful relationship is to elevate the status of the other person — being a significance giver. Significance is crucial to the human being, to the human essence, to the DNA of who we are. Make sure that when you're building relationships, you're giving compliments instead of asking for them, that you're increasing your curiosity rather than just talking about yourself all the time. Continue being a significance giver and build outstanding, successful relationships professionally and personally. If this has been valuable, please like or tweet it and share a comment below. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Look forward to speaking to you soon. Look after yourself. Colin Boyd colinboyd.com.au I hope you enjoyed How To Build Business Relationships

It is a great concept to ask, “What can I do for you?” or “ How can I help you?” This seems like a great concept, but actually it causes an awkward challenge if you are a busy entrepreneur, executive or sales rep and you’ve got half a dozen people at a network meeting walking up to you saying, “Hey, what can I do to help you with your business?” That’s a really sweet question. It’s very genuine, it’s very nice per se but the truth is, it’s not very helpful because they didn’t take the time to get to know what you’re up to, they didn’t look for ways where they can really serve you, they didn’t ask questions that help them identify gaps that they can actually step in and help fill. In short… they didn’t do the research. I remember a long time ago, I spent a few hours hanging out with a guy named James Altucher. He’s got a very interesting blog that he writes and a very interesting podcast. I asked him, “How did you go from struggling to making 10 million dollars on one deal? Losing it all to making $14 million on the next deal? How did you do that?” In his response he taught me a very simple technique of active networking (that’s the term I gave, that’s not what he said) He said he would go out and look for an opportunity, a person or an organization that he wanted to connect with and he would spend time researching online what’s going on in their world – articles that they would write, blogs they posted, their Instagram, their Twitter. He would just dig into their world and learn about them and educate himself of what they’re up to, what they’re focused on, what they’re talking about, projects they are working on. All the details that they are working on, and he would naturally look for gaps that existed in their plan, in their execution, in their message. He would look for things that he could find that as a consumer, or as someone who really enjoyed receiving content from them, he wished there was more of and he would take notes and say, “I wish you would cover this topic, I wish you would do it like this, I wish you came into this side, I wish you have this additions to it..”

You can't do everything yourself in the world of business. This is why it is so important to network and build relationships. You should always be out there meeting people and cultivating the relationships. http://www.wpcoachingschool.com Here are 10 tips to help your networking efforts. 1. Make an Effort Get organised and plan a schedule of attending events or other opportunities to network, along with following up and nurturing your new relationships. 2. Face to Face Is Better than Virtual The internet makes it easy to meet people and stay in touch, but face-to-face contact in person is still the best. 3. Know What You Bring to the Table Take a good look at your resources and skill set to determine what you can do for others. Approach the new people you meet with confidence and let this value show. 4. Get into Conversations Try to get into a real conversation with someone even if it means you'll meet fewer people. 5. Go for a Win-Win Don't form relationships based strictly on what others can do for you. If you make each relationship mutually rewarding so that it's beneficial for everyone. 6. Stay in Touch Whether you interact casually on social media or actually write formal follow-up letters, it's important to stay on the radar of the people you meet. 7. Follow Up with an Offer Offer some kind of help they need that you can provide in just a few minutes. Your new contact will immediately see the value you have to offer. 8. Keep Records Keep a file on each of your contacts. Make a record of personal information for each of your contacts such as their likes and dislikes as well as pertinent business information. 9. Maintain Professionalism Your contacts aren't your friends. For some with whom you have a more distant relationship, keep the appropriate level of professionalism. 10. Pay Attention Through each contact within your business network relationships, pay attention and listen closely. In business, what comes first? The sale or the relationship? Richard Crenian and Brad Powe touch upon the bedrock of all successful sales - building a trustworthy and valuable relationship with the customer prior to the purchase. As in most situations, first impressions truly reflect commitment. Looking and talking the part - these lend themselves to your credibility. Following that, a good businessman also expresses a genuine interest in their client - get them talking about them and their interests. Lastly, credibility needs to be cushioned by knowledge and experience about the focal point of the sale - your product. This needs to be backed by sufficient research - is the client in need of what you're selling, whether knowingly or unknowingly? These criteria lay the groundwork for a successful sale. https://www.richardcrenian.com Richard is the Founder and President of ReDev Properties. Ltd, a private real estate asset management company with its head office in Toronto, Canada.

http://goo.gl/P2Yk1 Who gets to define success? Harvard Business School's Robert Steven Kaplan argues in his new book, What You're Really Meant to Do: A Roadmap for Reaching Your Unique Potential, that success is not about meeting someone else's definition, but reaching your potential by defining it on your own terms. In this video series, Kaplan shares specific and actionable approaches to defining your own success and reaching your potential. When it comes to improving your life and your career, it is essential to be able to properly evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. In the age of social media we might have large networks but few if any real relationships.

Business networking London - http://hcci.org.uk/essex-business-network/business-networking-london/ Business networking shouldn’t just be an event; it should be an ongoing process of building relationships with people you actually like and with whom you can form mutually beneficial business relationships with. Therefore, you need to consider how you can maintain these important relationships to build your own network of like-minded business people. People go to London networking events to share ideas and solve problems, build strong relationships, develop partnerships, leads and referrals, become more influential in their industry and to increase their productivity. Once you have set your business goals, you can then begin by building your business by networking in London at events put on by Havering Chamber of Commerce. Approach People A good way to start the relationship building process straight away is to approach people yourself. If you have a colleague with you, you should split up and try to sit with people you don’t know. In addition, you should aim to get the business cards of everyone you meet and give your business card to the people who ask for one. Be Present You should always pay attention to whoever is talking to you and avoid looking around the room or checking your phone. When To Pitch It is always difficult to tell when to pitch, but the general rule is to avoid pitching at all during the first meeting. Once you have established common ground, know more about the person and their company and have an idea of what you can offer them, you can start to talk business. Building on the Relationship Once you have a clear idea of who you want to keep a relationship with, you should contact them immediately to arrange a meeting or even just to let them know that you spoke at the event and you would like to speak again. You should also include your contact information so they can get back to you. It’s not a competition. You don’t necessarily want the largest network; instead you should aim to have the most diverse and responsive network. This way, you can connect with more people and give contacts to people outside of your network as well as within your network. Many people plan to promote their business with business cards when they first start out. It is indeed a viable marketing strategy that almost every entrepreneur should constantly work on. This video explains how to properly promote a business and do business marketing and networking by handing out your business cards and networking within your business community. When you go to networking events, a natural inclination is to try to tell everyone about your business and try to sell your product. But what can benefit people more is to begin building business relationships when you hand out business cards. When you are business networking and promoting your business through giving out business cards, try to ask the people to whom you are talking to about their business and what they are currently working on. They will appreciate your willingness to help and are more likely to take an interest in your business. Additionally, when you are marketing by handing out business cards at events or conferences, try to carry a pen with you so that you can make notes on the business card about the conversation you just had so that when you follow up, you can remember the details of your conversation. And try to always follow up when you hand out and take someone's business card. That is a common courtesy, but more importantly, it is a first sign of showing that you are dependable, and reliable.
