President Trump's tax cuts, aggressive revenue reinvestment, years of R&D, and employee stock compensation all helped. Does America have a corporate income tax problem? Amazon is one of the world's most valuable companies, valued at nearly $800 billion, and the e-commerce giant pulled in $232.9 billion in global revenue in 2018. And yet, Amazon's federal tax bill this year: $0. For the second year in a row. In fact, Amazon is actually getting a federal tax refund of $129 million this year, due in part to a combination of tax credits and deductions. This is despite the fact that Amazon nearly doubled its taxable income in 2018 to $11.2 billion, from $5.6 billion a year earlier. In other words, Amazon is basically paying a -1 percent federal income tax rate this year after reportedly paying a federal rate of more than 11 percent between 2011 and 2016, according to The Week. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who has criticized Amazon in the past for not paying higher federal taxes, took to Twitter to point out that any Amazon Prime member paid more for that program's annual fee ($119) than the company paid in federal taxes. Prime has 100 million subscribers. "Amazon pays all the taxes we are required to pay in the U.S. and every country where we operate, including paying $2.6 billion in corporate tax and reporting $3.4 billion in tax expense over the last three years," an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement provided to CNBC Make It. Amazon reported its sizable federal refund in a recent corporate filing for the company's fourth-quarter earnings report. However, Amazon also notes in that filing that it will pay $756 million in total taxes this year, between state and international taxes. A report this week from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, or ITEP, a nonpartisan and nonprofit tax policy think tank, pointed out the fact that Amazon will not pay federal taxes for the second year in a row. Processing a timesheet -- creating a payslip 1. All details need to been entered in for the Employee into the Employee Details tab 2. All details for the Company info entered into the Settings ( Company Details) 3. You are now ready to enter in a timesheet 4. Select the Timesheets button 5. Select the date you are processing the payroll (the pay date) 6. Select the wage interval -- Weekly /Fortnightly/Monthly 7. If you have opted to use the auto update section then hit the Auto Update button at the top 8. Alternatively you can click on an employee (First name or Second name) then, on the right hand side of the window select from the drop down list a description of pay (e.g. Normal hours, expenses etc.) 9. Select the number of units and then hit tab or enter 10. To add an extra line to the timesheet, select the Unit field and press the down arrow on your keyboard -- this will give you an additional line, to select another rate of pay 11. Once you have entered all rates of pay move on to the next employee 12. After all pay details for the employees have been entered Close out of the Timesheets screen 13. Select the option Process -- it will advise you to Backup your payroll and we advise you to backup every time you process 14. Close out of this and select the pay date and wage interval again 15. In the payroll Processing screen -- Hit Calculate Pay ( This will calculate the PAYE/PRSI/USC) 16. It will advise you that timesheets cannot be changed after this calculation, do you wish to continue? -- Select Yes Note It is possible to amend a timesheet after processing ( this is called a rollback) 17. Once details have come in for each employee then select the Close button 18. To print or email your payslip -- Select the Payslips button 19. From the necessities to all the extras; the toys, the clothes, the entertainment, the extra curricular activities and so on... wouldn’t it be nice to get a brake and be able to write all of those expenses off on taxes? RECAP OF THE VIDEO: I am a real estate investor and a mother and in my business I don’t just focus on implementing strategies that allow me to make more money, but also focus on incorporating strategies that will allow me to keep the maximum amount of money that I make. In this video I will share a strategy that will allow you to keep more of your money by writing-off your kids’ expenses on your taxes. To implement this strategy you must get your kids involved in your business by putting them on payroll and paying them a salary. You can begin to put your kids on payroll as soon as they turn 6 years old and start giving them small jobs such as stuffing envelopes, shredding paper, cleaning, filing, bookkeeping, scanning... By taking this approach not only will you be saving taxes, but you will be teaching your kids small business ownership skills, self reliance and a concept of a job well done. To be able to pay your own kids, each one of them needs to have their own bank accounts set up and whether you operate as a Sole Proprietor or an LLC you will be paying your kids directly to their bank accounts from your business account if they are under 18 years of age, if they are 18 or older then issue them a 1099 or W2. If you operate your business as an S-Corp then you will need to set up a “Family Management Company” (but is only needed if paying children under 18 years old) which will operate as a Sole Proprietor and pay that “Family Management Company” the kids salary as a fee then transfer the money from there into their bank accounts, but if you have an S-Corp. and you are paying kids that are 18 or older you do not need the “Family Management Company” just issue them a 1099 or W2. The benefit of paying your own kids is that if they are under 18 years of age you do not need to issue workers comp. or FICA (except in Washington) also they will not need to file taxes if you pay them $6350 (in 2017) / year or less.
