GDPR 2018 - Summary of new EU regulation
GDPR 2018 is General Data Protection Regulation that will take in effect on 25th of May 2018. In this video I'll explain what GDPR is and why should you care about it. This EU regulation is set to increase user privacy and punish companies that neglect personal data safety. In this video I'll give you a summary of GDPR and the main points that might interest you as a company or private person. In GDPR will be big topic for companies as this will require some changes to the websites so that they comply to the new regulation. If companies are not GDPR compliant then there are some severe fines. The new EU data protection regulation will affect any company that sells to EU citizens, this means in the US or UK GDPR will be followed as well. useful links: GDPR examples: https://youtu.be/bVap-DYWKjg Full regulation doc in pdf: http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/reform/files/regulation_oj_en.pdf GDPR Summary by EU: https://www.eugdpr.org/key-changes.html Comprehensive video about the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxgZ57BTkFQ General Data Protection Regulation is a long document that describes how companies should use and protect consumer data. It will take an effect on 25 May 2018. It will impact your company if you handle any data from EU citizen. So no matter where your company is based, if you collect data from EU citizens this will apply to you. Now to consumers this is not that bad of a deal. This regulation gives power back to the people. As EU sees privacy as human right. Now for companies this means that they need to look into their process and infrastructure. Analyze what is collected, where is it collected and how the data is used and how it is secured. This will give transparency to consumers, as we will know what is collected and why. There is also small benefits to companies as this will be one regulation across whole europe and not per country, as it is now. Tracking is still allowed but you have to make sure it's done the right way. You need to get user's explicit consent in simple language and ability to opt out at any time. What might be challenging is that current data has to oblige to the new regulation. So you need to make sure that old data has user's consent. I think this regulation will be taken seriously as penalties are severe. At most, 20 million dollars or 4% of global turnover (whichever is higher). There is no one entity that will monitor this regulation, however if you get too many complaints from consumers, you might get sued. There are 7 key rights that GDPR emphasizes: 1. User consent to tracking and ability to opt out 2. Data breach notification within 72h after breach 3. Rights to access your own data 4. Right to be forgotten, so at any point you can ask the company to permanently delete your data 5. Data portability, you have the right to reuse the data elsewhere 6. Privacy by design, companies do out most to secure personal data 7. Data protection officer needs to be appointed if you are companie with 250+ employees

Understanding the EU's new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
In 2016, the European Union (EU) approved its General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to protect European citizens’ data. As a regulation, the GDPR does not require the implementation of legislation, and will immediately become an applicable law as of the 25th of May, 2018. What is GDPR exactly trying to accomplish? According to the official documents, the goal is the “protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data.” In short, organizations that conduct business in the EU will need to be compliant with GDPR, and must come to terms with the huge fines that non-compliance can carry. Fines can be up to €20M or 4% of the annual turnover. For companies that experience breaches that result in the loss of personal data (such as Talk Talk, which lost 170,000 people’s data), the fines will be tremendous. Join us for discussion about GDPR to learn more about: The principles that organizations that use personal data need to adhere to The consequences organizations can face if that do not adhere to this new regulation How your organization can prepare for the future

EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Need to Knows
http://www.nuix.com | In April 2016, the European Parliament passed the final vote for the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and MEPs agreed to update existing legislation to make it more relevant to modern technology. While the new laws won’t be enforced for another couple of years, this is still a relatively short period considering businesses will need to get to grips with the new requirements, evaluate their existing security measures and navigate the path to full compliance in that time. With heavier penalties and a stricter 72 hour breach notification timeline included in the new regulation, we all have an increasing part to play in keeping information secure, responding quickly when a data breach occurs and answering the requirements of litigation that may arise as a result of a breach. Watch our panel discussion to gain a new understanding of the language and evidence of IT breaches and learn how to establish post-breach process through to litigation. The panel will cover questions such as: - What does it mean for business, law enforcement and regulators? - What should a company do now with regard to their processes and procedures to ensure compliance? - How will the GDPR encourage innovation and use of big data?

EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Overview for Software Testers and Software Testing
EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Overview for Software Testers and Software Testing Do you need help with Software Testing? Visit http://EvilTester.com **** You can support my work on Patreon and gain access to material that I don't release anywhere else. https://www.patreon.com/eviltester **** There are some terms to be aware of. - Data Subject - the person about whom personal data is captured, stored and used - Data Controller - determines the purpose and processing method for personal data - Data Processor - processes data on behalf of a controller e.g. email system, CRM system or the system that you work on. And there are some fairly high level and testable requirements around GDPR. * Consent must now be explained prior to gathering user data in clear and easy to understand format (not legalese). And it must be easy to withdraw consent. * You must be able to provide a copy of any personal data held on a person, free of charge, and in an electronic format if asked by the data subject. * You must support full data erasure, this includes data no longer being relevant to original purposes for processing. * Data Portability between data controllers in an easy to process format. If there is a standard in your industry, then use that standard. * Privacy and consent terms and conditions must be clear. And you can’t go outside them, if you change them you need to be able to notify your customers and make it easy for them to opt out of the changes or remove their consent for usage. * Privacy by Design (Data protection by design and by default (Article 25)) is now a legal requirement. Part of the European Union’s sweeping new privacy regulations could change how people apply for loans, credit cards, and even jobs online. The new law, called the General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, goes into effect Friday and gives EU residents new rights and greater control over their information online, even the ability to have it completely erased. Ask Yoast: Preparing for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
From 25 may 2018 onward, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be in force. This law on privacy and data protection will have consequences for any business handling personal data of EU subjects. So, what should a webmaster do to avoid legal penalties? In this Ask Yoast, Joost gives his take on the matter. Joerg Gastmann emailed us his question on the GDPR: 'At YoastCon 2017, Dixon Jones mentioned that certain plugins collect data about users and this might cause problems with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). What should a webmaster do to avoid legal penalties for using plugins, like Jetpack, that process statistical/user data on their servers?' Watch the video or read the transcript below for the answer! Preparing for the GDPR: “Well, you don’t get a penalty specifically for the fact that these plugins are using that data. You get a penalty for not getting your user’s consent for doing that. So you should get your user’s consent, or stop doing that. Some of these things you can put into your general terms of service because they’re required for your business to work. But if you’re doing things like profiling people based on what they visited, based on information they’ve given you them about them, then you should really dive into the GDPR. This is not something I can easily answer in a couple of minutes. It’s a lot of work. There are a lot of people that are very hard at work, making sure that we can do all the things in WordPress that you should be able to do under the GDPR. So yeah, dive in, consult a lawyer- I’m not a lawyer. Good luck!” Ask Yoast In the series Ask Yoast, we answer SEO questions from our readers. Have an SEO-related question? Maybe we can help you out! Send an email to [email protected] Note: please check our blog and knowledge base https://kb.yoast.com/ first, the answer to your question may already be out there! Locating & Managing EU Personal  Data for GDPR Compliance
Visit us at https://www.spirion.com to view more videos on this topic. Data on customers is the lifeblood of many organizations. In the quest for competitive dominance, this data has sprawled to an almost unmanageable footprint. Meanwhile, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) whose deadline in May 2018 is fast approaching, requires organizations to maintain a new level of insight on what EU citizens' data, where it is and respond to data subjects access requests  (DSARs) to share data you possess about them and remove relevant data upon request.   With 173 Recitals and 99 Articles, the EU GDPR is not just a massive new compliance requirement, it represents (at least for multinational organizations based outside of the EU) an entirely new way of approaching data protection. Rather than merely citing personal data security requirements, it addresses every aspect of the use, sharing, storage, and disposal of that data. Join us as information security experts dive into a critical step on the roadmap to GDPR compliance - Identifying, discovering, and inventorying your PII data. In this webinar, we'll help you answer: - Am I considering all of the right data types, elements, and scenarios for the scope of my program? - What methodologies and techniques are available to handle the critical data discovery and inventory step? - How should I fit this effort into other enterprise compliance efforts? - Once discovery and inventory are underway, where do I go from here? Who should attend: Information security and cyber security, also Information Officers including CIOs, Information Security Directors, Staff Attorneys, or anyone concerned with the European Union GDPR

What is GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation
In this video, you will learn about GDPR, the European Union’s, General Data Protection Regulation which comes into force on May 25, 2018. The GDPR replaces the 1995 Data Protection Directive. It was approved and adopted by the EU Parliament in April 2016. One of the main goals of the GDPR is to give individuals in the European Union more control and flexibility on how their data is used and processed. It also puts the responsibility on businesses and individuals who process information from these EU individuals. Some of the Key GDPR Requirements include: (1) Consent to use personal data; (2) Privacy by Design; (3) Right to Data Access; (4) Right To Be Forgotten; (5) Data Portability; (6) Data Rectification; (7) Data Breach Notification. I will be covering these GDPR Regulations in more detail, in a separate video (see link below). That being said, it’s important that you know if and how GDPR affects you. For example, if you own a website and even have a Contact form, use cookies on your site, use Google Analytics to track visitor, and the like, you are mostly like affected by GDPR and need to take appropriate action to remain in compliance. Non-compliance with GDPR can result in hefty penalties, up to 20 million Euros, or 4% of global annual turnover, whichever is the greater. You can check the GDPR WordPress plugin below to help you remain compliant. It’s an easy WP plugin to install and take necessary steps to make sure that your website is GDPR compliant. - GDPR (Official Site): https://gdpr-info.eu/ - Uber GDPR WP Plugin: http://bit.ly/GDPR-WPPlugin - GDPR Video Tutorials: http://bit.ly/GDPR-Videos CREDITS: Microsoft, Windows, and the Windows logo are trademarks, or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries | Commercial Rights to use videos, images and animations used in this video production, unless otherwise mentioned | Some images used are public domain via Pixabay | Other names may be trademarks of their respective owners. SC6 Hangout: The new EU General Data Protection Regulation
On April 14 the European Parliament adopted the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which was presented by the European Commission in January 2012. The Regulation shall apply 2 years after its formal adoption by the European Parliament and Council which now is the case. The regulations for processing personal data affect large areas of European research and are of great importance to the scientific communities and research infrastructures of Europe. The demand for stronger protection and harmonization of rules and practices across Europe, has been an important driving force behind the proposed data protection regulation in EU. The question is now is how the new legislation balances the interest in privacy against the use for historical, statistical and scientific purposes. It is also whether the regulations, in line with the legislators’ intention, ensure greater harmonisation and standardisation in the field of data protection and thus make it easier to exchange data and stimulate increased research collaboration across national boundaries. This presentation will take a closer look at these issues, discussing how the new GDPR will affect data collection, data use, data preservation and data sharing. After the presentation a moderated Q&A Session opens the floor to the webinar participants to raise & discuss questions on the topic! more on http://big-data-europe.eu

News on EU Privacy Law: ECJ Safe Harbour Ruling and EU General Data Protection Regulation
The end of 2015 has brought and the beginning of 2016 will continue to bring across thrilling changes to data privacy and protection landscape of the EU. On 6 October 2015, the ruling of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) likewise an earthquake sent ripples through the global privacy community. In consequence, even the validity of the remaining vehicles for the legitimisation of personal data transfers to countries outside the EU / the EEA, i.e., EU Model Clauses and Binding Corporate Rules, are subject to review of the national data protection agencies and the Art. 29 Working Party. Further, at the beginning of 2016, the EU Data Protection Directive of 1995 shall be replaced by the new EU General Data Protection Regulation. This Regulation will incorporate a unitary privacy regime within the whole EU. It will bring across, however, material changes, e.g., in terms of severe penalties which were formerly known only from antitrust law breaches. Deloitte Legal’s experienced IT / Privacy experts will share insights about the impact of these breaking news on businesses for their typical handling and transfers of personal data.
