In this video, you will learn about GDPR, the European Union’s, General Data Protection Regulation which comes into force on May 25, 2018. The GDPR replaces the 1995 Data Protection Directive. It was approved and adopted by the EU Parliament in April 2016.
One of the main goals of the GDPR is to give individuals in the European Union more control and flexibility on how their data is used and processed. It also puts the responsibility on businesses and individuals who process information from these EU individuals.
Some of the Key GDPR Requirements include: (1) Consent to use personal data; (2) Privacy by Design; (3) Right to Data Access; (4) Right To Be Forgotten; (5) Data Portability; (6) Data Rectification; (7) Data Breach Notification. I will be covering these GDPR Regulations in more detail, in a separate video (see link below).
Non-compliance with GDPR can result in hefty penalties, up to 20 million Euros, or 4% of global annual turnover, whichever is the greater. You can check the GDPR WordPress plugin below to help you remain compliant. It’s an easy WP plugin to install and take necessary steps to make sure that your website is GDPR compliant.
