This was recorded by pointing a camera at an iPad in a dark room, so the video quality is iffy. My previous video on iOS bMail recommended setting up an account of type GMail. This worked fine for Calendars and Mail, but didn't sync Contacts. This version (updated April 2013)features another option, Exchange, which does let one sync all three.

Try this app: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/contacts-sync-for-google-gmail/id454390333?mt=8 Using Google to store your contacts can be very handy, especially if you use more than one of their products. If you've just made the switch to iPhone, or would like to use your Google contacts on an iOS device, there's an easy way to get everything in sync. This will pull your Google contacts right into the Phone or Contacts app within iOS. It will also provide you with "push" for your Gmail account if you have one setup. If you'd like to sync your Google contacts with iOS, watch the video or follow the steps below: Step 1: Go into the Settings app on your device. Step 2: Next, scroll down to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and tap on it. Step 3: Under the "Accounts" section at the top of the screen, tap on the row labeled "Add Account..." On the next screen, tap on "Microsoft Exchange." Step 4: Fill in your email address, password, and a short description, then tap on "Next" in the top right corner. Step 4: In the "Server" row, type in "m.google.com" without the quotes. Then, copy and paste your email address, or enter it again in the "Username" row. After you're done with that, tap on "Next" in the top right corner. Step 5: Finally, select the services you'd like to sync. If you'd only like to sync your contacts, turn off "Mail" and "Calendars." If you leave the "Mail" option enabled, your Gmail account will "push" new messages to your device immediately. When you're done configuring these options, tap on "Save" in the top right corner. When you open your Phone or Contacts app, your Google contacts will appear in the list. These contacts are now in sync with Google and will update when contacts are added or changed on either end.

An exciting feature of the new iPhone 3G is that it allows you to hook up with MS Exchange as soon as you remove it from the box. This means you'll be able to wirelessly push company email, calendar events, and contacts to your iPhone over a secure, encrypted connection. Imagine, your own mobile office all contained in one convenient location.

If you use Outlook for work, at some point you may need to import and export contacts from your account. Though it may seem complicated, it is actually an easy process if you use the tricks we lay out in this video. Have you ever tried to import something into Outlook, only to have your file rejected, or your data imported incorrectly? If you are trying to import contacts into Outlook from a file that isn’t using the same data fields that Outlook needs, you will get bogged down trying to make sure that your data is mapped correctly. If, for example, your 'first name' data gets mapped to the 'last name' data field, your data will flow into Outlook incorrectly. Before you import anything into Outlook, you will need to know what Outlook wants. Outlook considers a lot of data fields during the import process, and it can be difficult to determine which fields are necessary, or how to get them in the right format. For this reason, it is easier and more reliable to import data into Outlook using the spreadsheet it gives you. To fix this problem, start by exporting a CSV file out of Outlook. This will give you a spreadsheet template with all of the fields that Outlook requires. Once you have exported a CSV file, you can begin entering the data you have regarding your contacts. If you carefully input your data into the correct fields, you will have a complete data set that is ready to be imported back into Outlook. Importing is the same process as exporting. You will need to select the updated CSV file from your computer. Outlook will want to verify that the data fields match up, and this won’t be a problem since you are now using Outlook's template. Now, you should be ready to start importing your contacts into Outlook. If you follow these steps, you will soon be a master at importing and exporting contacts in Outlook! Here's a video on how to safely backup, encrypt & wipe data before handing it over to someone else. 0:53 - Backing up data from iPhones or iPads (iOS devices) 1:16 - Backing up data from Android phones 1:23 - Backing up contacts, calendar events, etc. 1:34 - Backing up app data and game data 1:48 - Backing up media files 2:19 - Backing up instant messaging apps (Whatsapp, Hike, etc.) 2:34 - Removing all accounts 2:44 - Encryption and factory resetting of iOS devices 3:12 - Encryption and factory resetting of android devices 4:13 - Finishing touches Before watching this video, please take 2 minutes to follow me on social media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/paramandroid Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/paramandroid Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/paramandroid Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/paramandroid I'm '@paramandroid' everywhere on the internet. With a lot of exciting offers from different e-commerce websites & the recent advancement in the network that people have, it's becoming more and more feasible to exchange or sell-off your old phone putting it to more use. Well, this makes a lot of sense, because, not only you are getting some money out of it and doing yourself a favor, you're also having a big impact on the environment. While handing it over to another person, you need to make sure that your data is wiped and also that you need to get all your data in your new phone. Let's explore a foolproof method in this video. 1. Backing up your data: This is where things get a lot easier if you have an iPhone. For backing up your data, contacts, calendar events, app data and even photos and videos from your iPhone or iPad, go to the settings and tap your name. On the right side, you can see the option 'iCloud' and tapping that can take up to the page from where you can back up all your apps. In Android, you've to deal with 3 separate steps: 1.a To backup contacts, calendar, and so on, you can go into the settings, then into accounts and then tap Google. Turn off & turn on the options that you want to back-up here that'll re-initiate the process. 1.b. To take the back up of app & game data, You can download Titanium back up or Helium back up app. You can follow along with the video that I've made specifically for this purpose clicking right here 1.c. To take the back up of photos and videos, you can use any cloud storage like Google Photos, which gives support for up to 20-MP pictures. If you don't want your photos on the cloud, you can connect your android device to the computer and change the mode of connection to file transfer. In your computer, you can go to the phone main folder, then into the 'Camera' folder and then into the 'DCIM' folder. Remember that in instant messaging apps like Whatsapp, you have the option to back up the complete chat and even the media files within the app itself. Once you add your new Google account in your new phone, the restoration your data will automatically start. Same is the case with Whatsapp. 2. Now that we sorted out the back-up, let's encrypt our data and factory reset the phone. Once again iOS devices have much smoother ways of doing this. Encryption scrambles the data stored on your phone, making it unreadable without your individual device’s unique encryption key. The data in iPhones & iPads are encrypted by default. For factory reset your phone, go to settings, then into the general. From there select 'reset' and in that, 'Reset all content and settings' and you're good to go. For encrypting data in Android devices, open the Settings menu and tap More, followed by Security, then tap Encrypt Device. The process may take some time. You can perform a factory reset by pressing the Menu button and then going to Settings, selecting Privacy, and then Factory Data Reset. Finally, press Reset Phone to complete the process and remove all of your data from the phone. Now a lot of people might think that they have encrypted their data and wiped it by a factory reset and hence they are good to go. Repeat this process again, but this time, with your storage full of junk data like generic videos and other stuff. Copy them into your phone, encrypt it and then factory reset your phone again. 3. As for finishing touches, remove any inserted SIM cards and memory cards from the device. If you have e-SIM facility, contact your carrier to deactivate from the device. Include any accessories that came along with the device and you can remove cases and screen protectors if you want. Clean the device with a dry cloth and if available, package everything in the box and you're good to go Leave a thumbs up if you feel that this video was useful and let me know about your smartphone exchange in the comments.
