ATTN: Yes, this 'How To' video is lengthy, but it's also VERY detailed. This video goes over how to completely remove the OEM tail light housings, NOT just replacing the bulbs. It covers up to almost taking off the entire rear fender (one more bolt and it would have been off,) as well as running new wiring, testing, soldering, and more. As I said, it's very detailed. Also, see the TIP below if replacing your stock tail light housings as I did, to save you some time.
Whatup Blockheads! So I've disliked the stock tail lights for as long as I can remember. They looked like little 'rocket boosters' to me, and just muddy up the back of the bike. They stick out like little satellite dishes, or Dumbo's ears. C'mon Harley!
Solution? Take em off and replace them with some sleek, small LED tail lights from Arlen Ness! Smaller and BRIGHTER, that's a win-win in my book.
I couldn't find any "How To" videos out there that go over removing the stock tail lights, so I was just figuring it out as I went along. In the video, I note that this is JUST A GUIDE, and more than likely not the only way to do things. See disclaimer below.*
TIP: If you're completely taking off the stock tail lights + housings and replacing them as I did in this video, you can save yourself a LOT of time if you just cut the wires as soon as you have the stock tail lights loosened and the wiring exposed. You'll be able to slip them right off and not have to worry about pulling the inner silver bezels out, as I did.
If you know of a faster way to do this, great! However, note that I achieved the results that I wanted regardless (nyah nyah.) Note again, this is only a guide. I am not a mechanic. I'm just a dude that likes motorcycles and tinkering with them.
I'll have a 'gear review' video up on these lights later after I've had some time to evaluate them. First impressions though: These things are BRIGHT! Way better than the stock tail lights, much more visible.
Regarding hyperflash, I made a vid on that, go check it out (links at end of the vid.) I don't have a problem with it, but it's entirely personal preference.
Thanks as always for tuning in! Ride safe out there, & stay vigilant! :)
