Entrepreneurship is booming. It's no coincidence that searches related to how to create a pitch deck for investors have soared in the past few years, and continue to grow. The main problem we see is many founders don't really have a reference or starting point when creating their pitch decks. The format in which you apply for startup funding has become very standardized and there's really no need to reinvent the wheel. In this video, we'll dig deep into the standard pitch deck outline most companies are using these days, and we'll give you some guidance as to what information and in what format should be included on your document. We'll mostly refer to the Airbnb and the Uber Pitch Decks, which are available for download here (https://slidebean.com/blog/startups-pitch-deck-examples?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=video-content&utm_term=investor-pitch-deck). -- Links we referred to: Slidebean Pitch Deck Templates: https://slidebean.com/pitch-deck-template/?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=video-content&utm_term=investor-pitch-deck INC.com on Market Size: https://www.inc.com/jeff-haden/bottom-up-or-top-down-market-analysis-which-should-you-use.html?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=video-content&utm_term=investor-pitch-deck SEC Regulations for fundraising: https://medium.com/dissected-by-propel-x/fundraising-101-a-tale-of-two-rules-fundraising-under-506-b-vs-506-c-5d47a2ef62c9 ► Subscribe to our Channel Here http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=slidebean -- About Us: Slidebean is a pitch deck creation tool with hundreds of templates available to use as a starting point. It takes more than a fantastic idea, traction and a killer management team to grab the attention of high-powered VCs. Watch as tagMap, which produces a social-networking app that brings people together based on common interests, presents its idea to Tim Draper, the noted Silicon Valley VC and co-founder of venture firm DFJ, and decide for yourself if the company's a worth-while investment.

In this video you’re going to see exactly how to pitch your startups to investors in 2018. In fact, this is the same exact process that I used to raise over 57 million dollars for my startup, Vivino. First, I’ll show you how to start your pitch off the right way. Most startup pitches start with a long, boring intro. And in my experience, if you lose an investor in the first 30 seconds of your pitch deck, you’ve lost them for good. Next, you’ll see how to drill down into what your product does. This sounds simple… but it’s tricky for entrepreneurs to actually pull off. The third step of this startup pitch formula is to make sure you show investors that you’re worthy of venture capital. Fortunately, it’s not as hard as it sounds. In fact, there’s a process I use to make this step an absolute cinch. Next up, we have the complete startup pitch checklist. This ensures that you don’t leave anything out of your pitch that VCs want to see. Finally, you’ll learn how to create a sense of urgency in your pitch… and how to use slides that push investors to take action. In the end, you’ll learn how to pitch investors from someone that’s actually done it.

Your startup pitch is a key asset in your fund raising toolkit for an angel pitch or a vc pitch . You need an effective pitch deck. How do you create an effective investor pitch? What topics should an investor pitch template (a pitch deck) include? What does an effective investor pitch template look like? How do you address the investor exit strategy and go to market strategy? I address those questions and many more in this video on how to pitch investors. What are some important pitch techniques you should incorporate? Why should you include your startup story in the pitch? Dominic from https://inflow.global here with two simple ideas about how to start your pitch or presentation. #1. Dispense with the niceties! Too may people start their presentations and speeches with boring small talk. If you want to get your audience off their iPhones and Blackberries you need to grab their attention, so dispense with all the niceties and get them to engage with what you are saying straight away. #2. Start with a bang! Do something a little bit different when you start your speech. I don't mean anything crazy, so no big stunts! What I mean is start with something that captures the imagination. Start with a fact, with a figure, with a quote, with a story, maybe a bit of video or a bit of music; something that’s going to really get them engaged. You want people to realise that you have started and for them to start paying you the attention you deserve. I’d love to hear how you get on, so please share your comments with me in the box below. Keep shining! Dominic WEBSITE: https://inflow.global BLOG: https://www.inflow.global/blog/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/dominiccolenso

Demo days are often the first chance a startup gets at getting in front of investors. For most startup accelerators, this is your graduation event, and a lot of work goes into preparing those slides and those pitches. In this video, we're going to dig into what investors are looking for, how to stand out from the crowd, and our lessons learned when preparing a demo day pitch deck. Now, a Demo Day pitch deck is not too different from... let's call it a regular pitch deck. It's a 10 or 15 slide introduction to your company, that should paint a good picture of what you do and why you are going to get rich doing it. The core difference is regular pitch decks get sent over email. This time you are pitching on stage, and it's your responsibility to carry the audience through the deck, to sell your company vision. This is, in order, the slides a Demo Day should have: - Opener - Traction/Milestones - Problem - Solution - Product Demo - Business Model - Market Size - Competition - Underlying Magic - Go to Market - Team - Fundraising Information Both of these templates are available on Slidebean, so feel free to download them on the links below: Pitch Deck and Demo Day Templates: https://slidebean.com/business-presentation-templates/?utm_source=youtube.com&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=video-content&utm_term=demo-day Pitch Deck Inspiration: https://slidebean.com/blog/startups-pitch-deck-examples First, let's talk about the opener. Demo Days are long events. After the firth startup on stage, anyone will get bored and start blurring the memories between one company and the other. Also, investors are busy people; they can easily divert to their laptops or Twitter if they aren't interested in what they're seeing. When you get on stage, you have 5 seconds to catch an investor's initial attention. If you succeed, you've earned an extra 30 seconds of their attention span, and finally, if you nail those 30 seconds, chances are they'll pay attention through the end of your presentation. Using your first 5 seconds to say- 'Good Morning, my name is what, I'm the CEO of what is a terrible waste of that time. They aren't remembering your name or your company name, and it's quite obvious you are one of the co-founders. Use these 5 seconds to catch their attention in some other way. My favorite approach is staring with a question, a question that speaks about your problem statement. When we pitched in 500 Startups, I started with 'How much time do you waste creating slide presentations?'. We crafted this question after weeks of trial and error, but it meets the requirements, - When you get asked a question, you inevitably answer it in your head. - We are talking about a struggle that we know for a fact every one of them has. - It hints about our product, the problem we are trying to solve and the dimension of the problem. - It creates empathy. It relates them to the problem. Again, my name is on the slide. The company name and logo is on the slide, so the point here is, let's get right to business. Chances are by the end of the event they'll remember 'the presentation company,' not Caya from Slidebean; and that's fine, they now know what you do. Now the Traction Slide, notice how it's been moved to second. If you've nailed your opener, you've now earned an extra 30 seconds. The absolute best way to stand out is bragging about what you've accomplished. A lot of accelerators focus too much on the pitch itself- when your focus at all times should be growth. Use this opportunity to show a hockey stick chart of your revenue. If you have it, then this is they killer slide right here. Investors on the Bay Area want to see 30% MoM growth for seed stage companies. 20% should still be rather good. If you are below this, then your sole focus should be getting to 30%, not watching me talk about Demo Day. Still, if you must pitch and you don't have revenue, then brag about your user growth, which should also have a hockey stick chart. The point here is, this will give you CREDIBILITY. The reaction you need here is curiosity about what the hell your company is doing to be growing so fast. This is the kind of thing that grabs someone's attention for the 3 minutes you have left. ____________ ► Subscribe to our Channel Here http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c... -- About Us: Slidebean is a pitch deck creation tool with hundreds of templates available to use as a starting point. Check out my eCourses with worksheets here: https://nathangold.teachable.com/ This video will show you how to pitch to investors in under 2 minutes without the aid of any slides. More videos and coaching are available here: http://www.nathangold.com/ When you are given the opportunity to pitch your company and all you have is a microphone and a panel of investors waiting for you to pitch, you need to be well scripted and rehearsed for the performance. Without a script indelibly inscribed in your brain, you will usually run over on time, not cover everything you wanted to talk about, or worse, completely lose your way. This cannot and should not be an extemporaneous talk where you condense your 10 minute presentation into 2 minutes. The real purpose of the 2 minute pitch is to convince an investor to ask you questions that will ultimately lead to one of two outcomes. Either they will like you enough to continue talking with you or they can become a resource for you to leverage at some time in the future. Recently, at the VCTaskforce in Palo Alto, California, 10 companies were given 2 minutes to pitch to a panel of angel investors. These were who's who in Silicon Valley, such as Tom Cervantez co-founder of the Harvard Angels, Raffy Chatav from Silicom Ventures, John Ryan from Band of Angels, and Paul Twombly from Keiretsu Forum. You should see what these people give as feedback to people who obviously have not really prepared for the event. Speaking of preparing, that is exactly what this video is all about. You will learn how to have a great opening that will capture the attention of the listener. Following that, you'll be able to clearly articulate the value of your business by answering 6 questions on the minds of your investors. After watching this video, you will clearly understand and know how NOT to sound the S.A.M.E. as other presenters. And, you'll be able to effectively use the Columbo Close, a powerful attention-getting tool, as the last words the investor will hear from you. The information contained in this video is the result of the last 6 years of delivering workshops and coaching real people who are raising capital. It's the same information I give out in the first coaching session along with an important homework assignment. This is not a sales presentation to get you to hire me. This video contains only "solid nourishment" and no "empty calories" to waste your time or money. This is Innovate UK’s 2nd installment of the essential selection business tips and advice series. This video covers tips on pitching for investment. Whether a start-up, small business or SME make sure you watch the video and subscribe to our channel for more funding advice. The video outlines and explains the most important factors for a business when trying to pitch to investors and includes actionable advice supported by comments from industry experts and investors. The tips are as follows: 1) Target the right investor for you Starting and running a business takes time and resources. It’s vital you are organised and prioritise what needs to be done. In the case of funding, approaching every potential investor you connect with wastes time. Most start-ups have to pitch to many investors before securing the funds they need. You don’t want to be wasting time on someone whose investment isn’t relevant. 2) Prepare an engaging deck You should have a high quality presentation, based on a good business plan and detailed financial projections. We recommend no more than 8-10 slides and it’s a good idea to accompany it with a 2-3 page summary. Your proposal should be visually stimulating; use charts and images to bring your presentation to life and make sure it’s not too wordy. 3) Sell the upside…And yourself Your presentation will tell the story, but you still have work to do. Focus on selling the quick exit or potential returns and getting people excited about your ability to make it happen. Investors are looking for business opportunities that are disruptive, scalable, have huge benefits and potential. It’s your job to make them believe you can deliver. 4) Follow up after your pitch Immediately follow-up on promised actions after the pitch – including sending any relevant documents. Update potential investors on your progress and let them know about any events or big wins. You can also keep in touch using social media such as posting updates on LinkedIn Check out the Essential guide to securing funding here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS3An... Legendary angel investor and "Shark Tank" star Chris Sacca returns to TWiST! Chris and Jason sit down to discuss everything from investing in relationships to Jack Dorsey as Twitter's CEO (now and early on). He talks about what he looks for in an investment, how he met Matt Mazzeo, those early years with Twitter and selling people on the business, and how his dream job involved "a lot of being on the phone, a lot of yelling at people... high risk, high reward." Chris shares his experiences on "Shark Tank," how fun it is to bust the chops (he uses a different term...) of Mark Cuban and Kevin O'Leary, and how TV could be part of the next chapter of Chris' life. Chris also listens to pitches from three companies that came out of Jason's LAUNCH Incubator - Requested, LeadIQ and Benchmade Modern - offering feedback to each of the three founders about their businesses and how to move forward. Startup Pitch & Slide Decks - 3 Best Presentation Examples, Tips, and Template for startups presenting powerpoint and decks to investors (http://angelkings.com/how-to-create-and-perfect-your-startup-pitch). Learn from startup expert Ross Blankenship (http://angelkings.com/course) who shows startups the best ways to present and display visuals, graphics and text about your business plan. Blankenship has judged many startup competitions and knows what it takes to perfect the pitch (http://www.theinvestingexpert.com/). Ross is also a renowned angel investor and venture capitalist who has invested in many top startup companies. #Startups #PitchDeck #Presentation #HowtoPresent #Investors In this video, we also look at startup decks from AirBnB, Buffer, and Mint.com, which are some of the best pitches of all-time.
Next: Secrets of the Startup Pitch Pt 2 Tell the Story https://youtu.be/A4Nmq-pesvQ In this session: Venture capitalist and entrepreneurdex founder Damir Perge explains the basics elements required to create a sexy, tight startup pitch that will get the attention of investors so you can get funded. Damir Perge: As a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley, I saw thousands of startup investor presentations. Pareto's Law of 80/20 applies; fewer than 20% of these startup presentations were any good at all. The pathetic part is that some of the startup ideas were excellent but the founding team just didn't take the time and effort to make it "investor sexy." When you're seeking millions of dollars for a startup, you have to make your investor presentation visually appealing. With entrepreneurdex, a startup accelerator, we constantly notice the lack of effort most entrepreneurs put into making startup presentations slick and sexy. The final tipping point was the day that one entrepreneur sent me a presentation that was so horrible I almost went ballistic on him for wasting my time. But I've learned the art of anger management due to seeing thousands of startup pitches, so I decided to do something about it. Instead of getting angry at the entrepreneur, I decided to do a video to share the basics of developing a great startup presentation. Originally I planned to make a short 20-minute video on the basic elements of design for a great startup presentation. However, the entire three-part video ended up at 2 hours and 22 minutes long. The first 42 minutes of the video is free, and is full of great advice for developing a great startup investor presentation that can help you raise the money to fund your startup dream. And if you are truly serious about your startup and want more detailed information, we do charge something for it, otherwise you won't appreciate the value. I also include templates for download - I'll tell you how to get those in part two (https://youtu.be/A4Nmq-pesvQ). All profits from this video will go to entrepreneurdex to help fund startup companies. Please share this free video with your entrepreneur friends so they can also have a better chance of presenting their startup dreams to investors. This is the first 10 minutes of the intense training course. http://www.bitpod.co.uk How to make pitch and proposal videos. Crowd funding is becoming an increasingly popular way to fund new or expanding businesses that have the potential to provide a good return on investment. Video is a popular way for investors to view your pitch and understand what you have to offer. Video can also be used to support business proposals alongside quotes and written documentation. In all cases the inclusion of video can help you stand out by demonstrating your product or service and proving your credibility and capability. Making this type of video requires lots of planning and careful scripting. You really need to get this right as it may be your one chance of securing the desired result. This is a very specialised area where often there is only a few viewers you need to impress. For this reason it is highly recommended that you research this process well, or consult a specialist to help you shape your video proposal. Like all business presentations, choosing what to say and how it should be structered will be critical to keep your potential investor or prospective client watching till the end. Understanding what is important to them will be the key to retaining their attention and securing a positive outcome. Sucessful videos can demonstrate your expertise, communicate your businesses personality and can inspire the viewer to select your proposal. If your business offering is a product or real world service, then you will need to show video footage of it in action. Software or more complex services may suit an animation to help explain how it works. You may end up with a blend of personal presentation, video footage and animation to get all your points across. A well made video will give you a competitive advantage when looking for funding or pitching for a project. The time and costs incurred will be quickly repaid and you have a format you can use again.
