JT's talk will draw on my knowledge of change management, through the kaleidoscope of his experiences within philosophy, sociology, psychology, education, and research to illustrate the complexity and simplicity of human change and resistance. He will explore the human side of change and how intentional effort can move individuals from suffering to successful integration. As a teacher, trainer, and instructional coach, I devote my energy toward the facilitation of learning—what I see as the applied science of manifesting physical change in the brain.I hope to inspire educators and their admirers to embrace the changes taking place all around us; to understand that resistance is natural and overcoming it can be done through systematic planning and effort; and to recognizing that managing change, whether invited or imposed, all starts and ends with people." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

http://www.iil.com/agile/ Agile is the word of the moment in software development, and it is moving rapidly into all phases of IT and business life. Once the sole province of developers striving to replace the linear development life cycles, agile is now a valid adjective in front of a whole host of activities: agile project management, agile enterprise, agile sales, agile marketing, agile management and so forth. Agile connotes a process that is low-ceremony, flexible, responsive and fast. It is also one that is driven more by the process workers than by a set of documented standards. Watch the video below to learn how to manage change with Agile.

90% of Prosci research participants rate cultural awareness and the impact on change management as important or very important. Watch the full webinar here: https://wi.st/2V18Sq1 How does cultural awareness influence change management? What impact do the perceptions of change management have across global regional cultures? And, how do the cultural norms in your organization impact the effective application of change management practices? Transcript: So I want to share with you some actionable insights from this analysis. So I'd like for you to think about what again are these implications for you in your particular area of influence. The first one is around the awareness of the need for change management. It seems that globally across cultures, across locations that there is a still general awareness of need for change management that's challenging. How do we continue to tell the value story? Why change management? Those of you who are Prosci-certified know that in training we talk about the number one reason for resistance is lack of awareness. So if there's a lack of awareness of the value of change management organizations are more likely to resist it because they don't understand the why. Why now? What if we don't? So you can start thinking about change management for change management. And if you're located in the United States and there's a general understanding and awareness maybe in the country locations where you operate you might have to do some more intentional work around telling the why change management story. Another insight and an adaptation is potentially being more clear about what activities comprise change management. You saw the common theme of communications and training being considered change manager or a thoughtful way of thinking about change management was just around communications and training but we all know that it's so much more than that. Specifically if you start thinking about the ADKAR Model and awareness and desire, knowledge, ability and reinforcement, communication and training can certainly help us but it's not the whole story. It's how we engage our sponsors and how we manage resistance and how we coach our individual managers and supervisors to help the individuals who are impacted through change to do their successful transitions. So a third consideration is around resources and funding for change management. How in fact are you resourcing and funding for change management? Maybe that needs to be done differently across the geographic regions. And the last one is meet people where they are. It's again just recognizing and acknowledging that people can be in different places in their understanding of change management around those geographic cultural considerations. So looking at those four actionable insights are there any of those that really appeal to you as a thoughtful way to help you be more effective in the context of the regional cultural considerations and the impact on change management?

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Dr. Crum says the biggest game changer is “YOU, by harnessing the power of your mind." She explores scientific results that show the influence of the mindset on the body, and how changing the subjective mindset produced different outcomes. Dr. Crum's work is inspired in part by the placebo effect, and has implications that stretch far beyond the realm of medicine. Dr. Crum is a professor, psychologist, and researcher investigating how mindsets affect health and behavior. Dr. Crum's research focuses on how changes in subjective mindsets—the lenses through which information is perceived, organized, and interpreted—can alter objective reality through behavioral, psychological, and physiological mechanisms. Her work is, in part, inspired by research on the placebo effect, a notable and consistent demonstration of the ability of the mindset to elicit healing properties in the body. She is interested in understanding how mindsets affect important outcomes outside the realm of medicine, in the domains of behavioral health and organizational behavior. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

A manufacturing company has a diverse range of electronic devices for process control and automation applications. Advances in technology and market competition necessitate constant improvement in the product design. These changes were controlled through a manual engineering change process, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to manage the variety, complexity and volume of change. The manual process posed several challenges:- • Intensive labor requirements • Over-reliance on different departments • Collaborating across the process • Excessive paper documentation • Inability to control product versions • Unacceptable processing time for changes • Inability to demonstrate traceability A complete end-to end engineering change management process has been deployed leveraging the engineering change features in Microsoft Dynamics. The process maps the tasks, roles, responsibilities and approval points from initial customer complaint or product improvement request, through assessment of the proposed change to implementation. Correct implementation was key -- ensuring existing on-hand and in-progress inventory is dealt with, bringing in the replaced items, and updating records accurately. This was a big change for the company as engineering change impacts many departments and there was considerable amount of detailed procedure development and training to do. But the benefits have been substantial in terms of both increased efficiency in many areas as well as effectiveness in managing product change in a timely and accurate manner.
