How To Manage Quality Of Construction Projects - Part -01
Simplifying Quality Management - Fat to Fit. This is the story of a fat businessman Mr. Gupta. He is fed up with his problem of obesity. His Doctor advices him to see Mr. I.H. Shah – Quality Consultant - before prescribing him for invasive surgery. Let us see how Mr. Shah works to solve his problem. The fat businessman Mr. Gupta, in this video represents a massive problem of defects in “Quality Management” resulting into bad products creating defects in construction projects. In this video Tutorial, I have introduced a powerful Quality Tool “Ishikawa diagram” - First used by Japanese Quality Guru – Ishikawa. The tool encourages you to find out various causes resulting into the final defective product i.e. Mr. Gupta. I have also introduced the application of another Quality Tool “Asking Questions” to understand, analyse the problem and go deep into finding solutions. You need to ask right questions to analyse any problem. Without questioning, you do not develop the right attitude to investigate solutions. The Ishikawa diagram shows the various causes. However, this is the first step in the direction of solving the problem. The most important fact is Mr. Gupta took courage and approached the Quality Consultant to solve his problem. I have found this eagerness to solve Quality problems when construction and real estate companies first approach me for help. I am I.H. Shah - Consulting Engineer & Quality Consultant with over 40 years of experience in working on Design, Execution, ISO 9000 Quality & Project management of major construction & infra projects. Am a certified Structural Engineer, ISO 9000 Lead Auditor & have audited major projects for International Certification bodies. Have trained hundreds of Engineers in ISO 9000 Quality Management, Project management & assisted a number of real estate & construction companies in preparing their Quality Management System, auditing their projects – training their technical people & getting them ISO 9001-2008 certified. With this experience & qualifications, I have developed a number of training programs on ISO 9000 Quality management & Project management. Want to provide FREE TUTORIALS – “simplifying construction Quality Management,” so that the viewers can apply the techniques in the real life & make a difference in construction projects. Want to contribute to improve the competence of construction people and make them world class to take up responsible jobs & challenges in the fast changing developing world. The free Tutorials will cover how to use quality tools, prepare procedures, method statements, check lists, flow charts, developing auditing skills with case studies including concreting, waterproofing, masonry, steel, double basements etc. topics. This will be a complete course on Quality and Project Management. Conclusion - This is the first video in the series of Quality Improvement on my channel and will address all aspects of "How to Manage Quality of Construction Projects" including use of Quality Tools up to ISO 9001-2008, - 2015. The Quality Tools finally produce contributory factors for Mr. Gupta’s problem. However, this is not enough. We will see the Next Step suggested in the Next video. Construction Project Management and Benefit of Having Certified Project Management Professionals?
http://www.pmchampion.com/blog There are various reasons that lead to a construction company going in trouble, including general economic conditions, not being competitive, heavy operating expenses, poor accounting system or even high employee turnover, but none impact a construction business as significantly as lack of project managerial expertise. Without strong project management processes a construction business will find itself in a crisis that can lead to failure. The recipe for success in this industry is managing costs, schedule and risks through strong project management processes, good communication plans and a stable and skilled workforce. A construction business survives because its individual projects are profitable and because the quality of its work is reputable. Companies are encouraged to spend some quiet time reviewing their project management processes before they plan for the harvest.

Now, let's look at what is Quality Management. Quality management aims to ensure that Project meets all the initial agreed requirements without any deviation. To ensure this, Quality Management involves doing activities like creating standard policy and procedures and also ensuring that those standard procedures are being followed properly in the project. There are three broad activities that are done as part of Quality Management. They are Quality Planning, Quality Assurance and Quality Control. Quality planning is the first step when Quality related Activities of the project are planned, Quality Assurance is the next stage of implementing those Quality Plans and Quality Control is the last stage, when periodic checks are done to see if Project Quality is improving or not. But what happens if you don't do Quality Management in a Project? Here is what you can expect in this case: Increased Cost, because of rework. Low customer Satisfaction, because no customer likes a below quality deliverable.

But no matter whether your project is big or small, and no matter how many resources and activities are in it, the process for figuring out the bottom line is always the same PLEASE REFER THE LINKS AS FOLLOW IF YOU NEED LEARN MORE: - You Can Ace Your PMP® Exam With The World’s Most Popular PMP® Video Training Course! : http://bit.ly/2AnUnGh - The PMI-ACP® Exam Simulator Features : http://bit.ly/2k7GuoW - CAPM® Exam Prep and CAPM® Exam Simulator : http://bit.ly/2Af7dWC - Free PMI-ACP® Exam Simulator : http://bit.ly/2nixIWw - The CAPM® Exam Simulator Features : http://bit.ly/2Ah2qUE - The PMP Exam is Changing in 2018 : http://bit.ly/2AmSk5f - PMP Exam Prep Essentials Overview Your Condensed PMP® Exam Prep Study Guide : http://bit.ly/2ngB8ZQ - eBook The PMP Exam Prep Essentials Study Guide : http://bit.ly/2ngB8ZQ - The PMP Exam Printable FlashCards (PDF FlashCards Only) : http://bit.ly/2ByCiTE - The PMP Exam eFlashCards (Portable eFlashCards Only) : http://bit.ly/2i3lUBQ - The PMP Exam FlashCards (eFlashCards & PDF Bundle) : http://bit.ly/2BAEuKr - PMP Exam Formula Study Guide (Free, Redacted Version) : http://bit.ly/2kbPoBU - The PM StudyCoach (For PMBOK Guide 5th Edition) : http://bit.ly/2Bnn035 - The PDU Podcast (Year 3) : http://bit.ly/2AmAY65 - Earn PDUs with The PM PrepCast : http://bit.ly/2zAXgjc - Earn PDUs with The Agile PrepCast : http://bit.ly/2Alns2n - The PM PrepCast (For PMBOK Guide 5th Edition) : http://bit.ly/2ipC5NZ - The Free Agile PrepCast : http://bit.ly/2kd0VRl - The Agile PrepCast : http://bit.ly/2nieb8w - The PDU Podcast (Year 2) : http://bit.ly/2Af9qRU - The PDU Podcast (Year 1) : http://bit.ly/2Af9ykm - The Free PM PrepCast - Sample Videos and Free PMP Exam Prep Material : http://bit.ly/2k9tBuK - The PDU Podcast (Monthly Subscription) : http://bit.ly/2ne1uLO - PMP Exam Formula Study Guide : http://bit.ly/2ALYfRU
Project Management Simplified: Learn The Fundamentals of PMI's Framework ✓
✅The best jobs no longer go to the best candidates. Times have changed. They now go to the people with the best strategies. We transformed over 5,000 careers. Join me at LIG and let me show you how yours will be the next career transformed; http://lig.academy Welcome to this week's episode where I make project management simple for you. To make it applicable to the majority of the audience, I am teaching Project Management Institute's (PMI) project management framework. ________________________________________________ Textbooks and frameworks are always boring. So, to make project management more interesting for you, I ran a project to demonstrate what steps to take and when. You won't regret spending 50 minutes to learn the basics of a wonderful practice called project management. You can also download all the templates I used in the session here (no need to register); https://thecareermastery.com/career-tips/project-management-simplified/ Although I strongly recommend you watch the entire session without skipping, for those of you who are just looking for snippets of information, you may find below the index of the video; 03:03 What is a project, program, and portfolio and how are they different from operations? 04:08 Project = Project Life Cycle + Project Management Process 04:43 Project Life Cycle 06:52 Process Groups 09:27 LIG, PMP certification or CAPM certification, which one is right for you? It definitely has a sexy tone to it right? Project… I just love the way it sounds. I wonder how cool it must sound in French. Proje… Well, project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique solution. Yeah that’s operations. No Well, the difference between a project and operations is fairly simple. A project ends. So, it’s temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/ or whatever outcome you wanted then you are done. Whereas in operations, it’s on-going and repetitive. You may have also heard about the terms program and portfolio. Let me just quickly explain them here. Program is multiple projects put together. Combined. And Portfolio is similarly. Multiple programs put together. So, it’s project, program, portfolio. Now before I go further, and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To run any project, you need 2 methodologies. The first one is a project life cycle and the second one is project management process. Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss the PMP certification goodbye. It’s absolutely amazing how many content creators in YouTube confuse these two. They are not interchangeable. You cannot afford to confuse a project life cycle with a project management process. Don’t worry I am going to make it very simple for you. Let’s start with Project Life Cycle. Project Life Cycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs. It’s highly customizable. Think of it like this; a human development is a project. So, your life cycle is; 1) Conceiving 2) Birth 3) Childhood 4) Teenage hood. Teenage hood. Is that a word? Teenaging? 5) Adulthood 6) And death Easy stuff right? So, now if it was an IT project. I am not an IT but it would like something like this; High-level design Detailed Design Coding Testing Installation And Turnover This is project life cycle. The term cycle is a bit confusing here. I think. But who knows. This video covers; project management project management institute pmp project management professional certification project life cycle project management PMI managing a project project management fundamentals fundamentals of project management project management for beginners project management course
