In a personal talk, she shares her determined struggle to improve the lives of women in her deeply religious and conservative community in northwest Pakistan -- and calls for women around the world to find their political voice. Climate Change Narrative is Driven by Agenda of Political Control—Myron Ebell
Is climate change actually causing a crisis, as many are saying? In the global warming debate, what is the actual “settled science” that most scientists agree on, and what exactly is being contested? And how will climate change factor into 2020? This is American Thought Leaders, and I’m Jan Jekielek. Today we sit down with Myron Ebell, the Director of Global Warming and International Environmental Policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a non-profit think tank that promotes limited government, free enterprise, and individual liberty. We explore the climate change debate through his eyes, including the stark differences between climate change projection models and actual measurement data, the role of China in global greenhouse gas emissions, the Green New Deal, the political interests behind the push for wind and solar energy, and how this overall debate will impact 2020. Nepal towards Political Changes, Elections and Development ||
Published Date: 27 Nov, 2017 .. Socio-psychological status was still under the influence of feudalism. Society was segmented into feudal and peasants. In national level feudal were Kings and their closely related ministers and high level bureaucrats. Whereas at local level, feudal were those who were relatives and keen of the local government authorities. His Majesty’s government was careful in appointing authorities to maintain the system. Nepal was suffering badly due its poor literacy rate. Majority of the population was illiterate only because of this socio-psychological situation. The education was rare, few had the chance to study and that was not enough to change the fate of Nepal. ... In 1960, King Mahendra used his emergency powers and took charge of the State once again. Political parties were outlawed and all prominent political figures, including the Prime Minister, were put behind bars. Civil liberties were curtailed and press freedom muzzled. King Mahendra, then, through an "exercise of the sovereign power and prerogatives inherent in us" promulgated a new constitution in December 1962 introducing a party-less Panchayat system. In November 1990, after the Jana Andolan movement, the new Constitution was adopted and the country became a constitutional monarchy. This constitution forced the monarchy of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev to hand over decisions of government to the Nepali people....... Gyanendra took complete control, on 1st February 2005, he dismissed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's government for failing to make arrangements for parliamentary elections and being unable to restore peace in the country, which was then in the midst of a civil war led by Maoist insurgents.... On May 18, 2006 the Parliament unanimously voted to strip the King of many of his powers. May 29, 2008, a new constitution was voted on by the Nepalese Parliament, which declared that the monarchy would be deposed and a new parliamentary republic would become the Nepalese political framework. Constitution of Nepal 2015 is the present governing Constitution of Nepal. Nepal is governed according to the Constitution which came into effect on Sept 20, 2015, replacing the Interim Constitution of 2007.......... During the writing of this article, more than 3 million Nepali called to vote today for provincial & federal legislative elections. This ascertains important milestone to implement new constitution of Nepal. Right after the people’s movement in 2006, Dr. Chaitanya Mishra in his paper “Political Transition in Nepal: Toward an Analytical Framework” had written, A potentially momentous political transition has been underway in Nepal beginning April 2006. It is likely that the transition will mark a key political break with the past. He had added, “To the extent that monarchy renews itself, which appears unlikely, it will be rendered politically and militarily powerless, and undivided sovereign powers will finally be vested in the people and their representatives. It is also likely that the state and society in Nepal will become more democratic, inclusive and plural than in the past.”..... Many of Nepali people have seen the developed society and some of them have heard about it. They know every citizen in the country is as important as the leader. The thought and the behavior of every individual affect the speed and rate of the development. The tendency to seek the better life is the move towards the development of the society and whole nation. The level of effort applied by individual utilizing available resources towards the better life leads the nation to the development. Seeking logical explanation on everything rather by greed or self-interest, respect of labor, respect of individual regardless of his/her situation, freedom of speech, balancing of rights and duties, productive working mechanism, desire of better life, good family leads the whole society and the nation towards the development. Remote societies need special attention by their local leaders. ..... Karl Marx remains deeply important today not as the man who told us what to replace capitalism with, but as someone who brilliantly pointed out certain of its problems. The School of Life, a pro-Capitalist institution, takes a look. For gifts and more from The School of Life, visit our online shop: https://goo.gl/O1tWri Download our App: https://goo.gl/kj9Vvr FURTHER READING “Most people agree that we need to improve our economic system somehow. It threatens our planet through excessive consumption, distracts us with irrelevant advertising, leaves people hungry and without healthcare, and fuels unnecessary wars. Yet we’re also often keen to dismiss the ideas of its most famous and ambitious critic, Karl Marx. This isn’t very surprising. In practice, his political and economic ideas have been used to design disastrously planned economies and nasty dictatorships. Frankly, the remedies Marx proposed for the ills of the world now sound a bit demented. He thought we should abolish private property. People should not be allowed to own things. At certain moments one can sympathise. But it’s like wanting to ban gossip or forbid watching television. It’s going to war with human behaviour. And Marx believed the world would be put to rights by a dictatorship of the proletariat; which does not mean anything much today. Openly Marxist parties received a total of only 1,685 votes in the 2010 UK general election, out of the nearly 40 million ballots cast…” You can read more on this and many other topics on our blog TheBookofLife.org at this link: https://goo.gl/Rt3zri MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/93tGtZ Watch more films on POLITICAL THEORY in our playlist: http://bit.ly/2dma0Sn Do you speak a different language to English? John Sterman– From Climate Change to Political and Personal Change
The science is clear: the Earth is warming; human activity, particularly combustion of fossil fuels, is responsible; and climate change poses grave risks to our prosperity, our health and our lives. The historic Paris Climate Accord entered into force in November 2016, but in June 2017 the United States announced it intends to withdraw from the agreement. What is the future of global efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions? Will the Paris agreement unravel, or will other nations, along with states, cities and companies in the US, make up the difference? Can we build an economy powered by clean, renewable energy in time? We’ll explore these questions with an interactive simulation developed by MIT and ClimateInteractive.org. For complex, contentious issues like climate change, change happens when people learn for themselves. Professor Sterman will demonstrate how their interactive tools are being used by political leaders, policymakers, and members of the public around the world to build shared understanding of climate change and the task before us. Finally, we’ll discuss what can each we do, professionally and personally, to build a safer, sustainable world in which all can thrive. John D. Sterman is the Jay W. Forrester Professor of Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Professor in the MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society. He is also the Director of the MIT System Dynamics Group and the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative. Sterman’s research centers on improving decision-making in complex systems, including corporate strategy and operations, energy policy, public health, environmental sustainability, and climate change. His work ranges from the dynamics of organizational change and the implementation of sustainable improvement programs to climate change and the implementation of policies to promote a sustainable world. Sterman pioneered the development of “management flight simulators” of corporate and economic systems which are now used by corporations, universities, and governments around the world. He is the author of many scholarly and popular articles on the challenges and opportunities facing organizations today, including the book, Modeling for Organizational Learning, and the award-winning textbook, Business Dynamics. In 2015, the far-right Law and Justice party, or PiS, won both the presidential election and a slim parliamentary majority. Since then, they’ve been working to cement their power by firing judges, purging the military and civil service, and cracking down on protesters and the media. All of this has put the country on a collision course with the European Union that could threaten Europe’s hard-won peace and prosperity following centuries of conflict. Will Sudanese Political Upheaval Bring Positive Change?

Will it lead to positive, democratic change or more of the same as al-Bashir? South Sudan-based journalist Patrick Oyet and our Mohammad Al-Kassim analyze. Story: Sudan's army has ousted veteran president Omar al-Bashir, but protesters against his iron-fisted rule denounced a "coup" and thousands rallied outside army headquarters as a night-time curfew kicked in. In a somber televised address on Thursday, Defense Minister Awad Ibnouf announced "the toppling of the regime" and said Bashir had been detained in 'a secure place', bringing an end to his three decades in power. Thousands of protesters were staging a sit-in for the sixth night running outside Khartoum army headquarters as the military council's curfew began at 10:00 pm (2000 GMT) despite growing international pressure to hand over to civilian rule. The army had earlier warned protesters not to defy the curfew. 'Stay put and guard your revolution,' said protest organizers in a rallying call urging residents to remain at the Army compound as the curfew neared. Washington said Khartoum should "exercise restraint and to allow space for civilian participation within the government". 'The Sudanese people should determine who leads them and their future and the Sudanese people have been clear and are demanding a civilian-led transition,' State Department spokesman Robert Palladino told reporters. The European Union urged the army to carry out a "swift" handover to civilian rule. Ibnouf said a transitional military council would replace the president for two years, adding that the country's borders and airspace were shut until further notice. State television later broadcast footage of him taking the oath to become head of the council, alongside his new deputy, army chief of staff Lieutenant General Kamal Abdelmarouf. Bashir, who swept to power in a 1989 coup, was one of Africa's longest-serving presidents and is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of genocide and war crimes. Organizers of the protests that have rocked Sudan since December vowed to press on until the whole regime was swept aside. The protesters' Alliance for Freedom and Change said the regime had kept 'the same faces', and urged demonstrators "to continue their sit-in in front of army headquarters and across all regions and in the streets". Alaa Salah, who has become an icon of the protest movement after a video of her leading demonstrators' chants went viral, said that 'change will not happen with Bashir's entire regime hoodwinking Sudanese civilians through a military coup'. Thursday's announcement meant 'we have not achieved anything', said Adel, a protester outside the army headquarters, where defiant demonstrators have braved tear gas and gunfire to keep up the sit-in. 'We will not stop our revolution. We are calling for the regime to step down, not only Bashir,' he said.

जापान का संविधान Japan ka samvidhan/Constitution:-BA 2nd year political science paper-1st [Hindi]
The Meiji Constitution was the fundamental law of the Empire of Japan, propagated during the reign of Emperor Meiji (r. 1867–1912). It provided for a form of mixed constitutionaland absolute monarchy, based on thePrussian and British models. In theory, theEmperor of Japan was the supreme ruler, and the cabinet, whose prime minister was elected by a privy council, were his followers; in practice, the Emperor was head of state but the Prime Minister was the actual head of government. Under the Meiji Constitution, the prime minister and his cabinet were not necessarily chosen from the elected members of the Diet. Pursuing the regular amending procedure of the "Meiji Constitution", it was entirely revised to become the "Post-war Constitution" on 3 November 1946. The Post-war Constitution has been in force since 3 May 1947. The Potsdam DeclarationEdit On 26 July 1945, Allied leaders Winston Churchill, Harry S. Truman, and Chiang Kai-shek issued the Potsdam Declaration, which demanded Japan's unconditional surrender. This declaration also defined the major goals of the post-surrender Allied occupation: "The Japanese government shall remove all obstacles to the revival and strengthening of democratic tendencies among the Japanese people. Freedom of speech, of religion, and of thought, as well as respect for the fundamental human rights shall be established" (Section 10). In addition, the document stated: "The occupying forces of the Allies shall be withdrawn from Japan as soon as these objectives have been accomplished and there has been established in accordance with the freely expressed will of the Japanese people a peacefully inclined and responsible government" (Section 12). The Allies sought not merely punishment or reparations from a militaristic foe, but fundamental changes in the nature of its political system. In the words of political scientist Robert E. Ward: "The occupation was perhaps the single most exhaustively planned operation of massive and externally directed political change in world history." https://youtu.be/5KAq4GB6FlA https://youtu.be/Ngz6wFPtKvI https://youtu.be/s0oqwpADAmA

POLITICAL THEORY - Niccolò Machiavelli
Machiavelli's name is a byword for immorality and political scheming. But that's deeply unfair. This was simply a political theorist interested in the survival and flourishing of the state. Political Ideology: Crash Course Government and Politics #35
So today Craig is going to look at political ideology in America. We're going to focus on liberals and conservatives and talk about the influencers of both of these viewpoints. Now, it's important to remember that political ideologies don't always perfectly correspond with political parties, and this correspondence becomes less and less likely over time. So, sure we can say that Democrats tend to be liberal and Republicans tend to be conservative, but we're not going to be talking about political parties in this episode. It's also important to note, that there are going to be a lot of generalizations here, as most peoples' ideologies fall on a spectrum, but we're going to try our best *crosses fingers* to summarize the most commonly held viewpoints for each of these positions as they are used pretty frequently in discussions of American politics. Tribal Conflicts and Identity | Full Debate | Dawn Butler, David Blunkett, Phillip Blond
Identity politics has become ever more influential. While the left champions identities based on sexuality or race, the right reasserts the nation. Does our desire to belong to one tribe or another make conflict with others inevitable? Could we do away with tribal allegiances and see ourselves as part of the same human family? Or are group identities based on class, race, sexuality or nationality the only effective vehicles for political change? #socialism #thatcher #trump #iaitv #politics #identity #race #sex #nation ** Subscribe to the Institute of Art and Ideas https://www.youtube.com/user/IAITV ** Listen to our weekly podcast: https://soundcloud.com/instituteofart... ** Donate to the Institute of Art and Ideas: https://iai.tv/support-the-iai/donate Dawn Butler: Dawn Butler is a British Labour Party politician serving as Shadow Women & Equalities Secretary since 2017, and has served as Member of Parliament for Brent Central since 2015. What is POLITICAL ECOLOGY? What does POLITICAL ECOLOGY mean? POLITICAL ECOLOGY meaning - POLITICAL ECOLOGY definition - POLITICAL ECOLOGY explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Political ecology is the study of the relationships between political, economic and social factors with environmental issues and changes. Political ecology differs from apolitical ecological studies by politicizing environmental issues and phenomena. The academic discipline offers wide-ranging studies integrating ecological social sciences with political economy in topics such as degradation and marginalization, environmental conflict, conservation and control, and environmental identities and social movements. The term "political ecology" was first coined by Frank Thone in an article published in 1935. It has been widely used since then in the context of human geography and human ecology, but with no systematic definition. Anthropologist Eric R. Wolf gave it a second life in 1972 in an article entitled "Ownership and Political Ecology," in which he discusses how local rules of ownership and inheritance "mediate between the pressures emanating from the larger society and the exigencies of the local ecosystem", but did not develop the concept further Other origins include other early works of Wolf as well as John W. Cole at the University of Massachusetts, Hans Magnus Enzensberger and others in the 1970s and 1980s. The origins of the field in the 1970s and 1980s were a result of the development of development geography and cultural ecology., particularly the work of Piers Blaikie on the sociopolitical origins of soil erosion. Historically, political ecology has focused on phenomena in and affecting the developing world; since the field’s inception, "research has sought primarily to understand the political dynamics surrounding material and discursive struggles over the environment in the third world". Scholars in political ecology are drawn from a variety of academic disciplines, including geography, anthropology, development studies, political science, sociology, forestry, and environmental history. Political ecology’s broad scope and interdisciplinary nature lends itself to multiple definitions and understandings. However, common assumptions across the field give the term relevance. Raymond L. Bryant and Sinéad Bailey developed three fundamental assumptions in practicing political ecology: First, costs and benefits associated with environmental change are distributed unequally. Changes in the environment do not affect society in a homogenous way: political, social, and economic differences account for uneven distribution of costs and benefits. Second, this unequal distribution inevitably reinforces or reduces existing social and economic inequalities - "any change in environmental conditions must affect the political and economic status quo." Third, the unequal distribution of costs and benefits and the reinforcing or reducing of pre-existing inequalities has political implications in terms of the altered power relationships that then result. In addition, political ecology attempts to provide critiques and alternatives in the interplay of the environment and political, economic and social factors. Paul Robbins asserts that the discipline has a "normative understanding that there are very likely better, less coercive, less exploitative, and more sustainable ways of doing things". From these assumptions, political ecology can be used to: - inform policymakers and organizations of the complexities surrounding environment and development, thereby contributing to better environmental governance. - understand the decisions that communities make about the natural environment in the context of their political environment, economic pressure, and societal regulations - look at how unequal relations in and among societies affect the natural environment, especially in context of government policy.

Moore, Tim Staples on Synergism, Steven Anderson & the RBs, Callers, Thoughts on Growth and Change
A little over 90 minutes today looking at Beth Moore’s article released over the weekend first, then moving on to Tim Staples sounding very much like our synergistic friends in his argumentation. Then we looked at the cooperation of some (to me) local Reformed Baptists with Steven Anderson and how odd that is, took two phone calls (one on spiritual gifts, the other on keeping your cool in apologetic situations) and then I spent a few minutes on the difference between being blown about by every wind of doctrine and true, necessary growth and maturity in one’s own understanding and theological knowledge.

bell hooks + Jill Soloway - Ending Domination: The Personal is Political I The New School
The early feminist movement was dedicated to the proposition that the personal is political—an insight that has come to be increasingly mocked and ridiculed. In their careers, renowned scholar, poet, and author bell hooks and Emmy-winning television writer and creator of Transparent Jill Soloway have countered this trend, making strong use of the autobiographical to generate critical discourse and awareness of injustice. In this conversation, hooks and Soloway discuss their excavations of the personal and its politics, and how this search strengthens liberation efforts rather than diminish them. About the speakers: For more than three decades, bell hooks (née Gloria Watkins) has been recognized internationally as a scholar, poet, author, and radical thinker. The dozens of books and articles she has published span several genres, including cultural and political analyses and critiques, personal memoirs, poetry collections, and children's books. Her writings cover topics of gender, race, class, spirituality, teaching, and the significance of media in contemporary culture. Jill Soloway is an American comedian, playwright, feminist, Emmy-winning television writer, and award-winning director known for creating, writing, executive producing, and directing the Amazon original series Transparent. The Anti-Democratic Party
There is an ongoing attack on our democracy, but Russia is not the main threat. Because of money in politics, voter suppression, gerrymandering, and outdated institutions, the United States is becoming less representative and less democratic. The Democratic Party wants to change this, while the Anti-Democratic (Republican) Party continues to subvert American democracy. Our democracy no longer represents the people. Here's how we fix it | Larry Lessig | TEDxMidAtlantic
Harvard Professor Lawrence Lessig makes the case that our democracy has become corrupt with money, leading to inequality that means only 0.02% of the United States population actually determines who's in power. Lessig says that this fundamental breakdown of the democratic system must be fixed before we will ever be able to address major challenges like climate change, social security, and student debt. This is not the most important problem, it's just the first problem. Lawrence Lessig is the Roy L. Furman Professor of Law and Leadership at Harvard Law School, former director of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University, and founder of Rootstrikers, a network of activists leading the fight against government corruption. He has authored numerous books, including Republic, Lost: How Money Corrupts Our Congress—and a Plan to Stop It, Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace, Free Culture, and Remix. Germany and France to change the political landscape of EU after Brexit
유럽연합의 미래, 독일 프랑스에 달려 Meanwhile, over in mainland Europe, France and Germany have especially been proactive in addressing potential uncertainties following Brexit. It's not an exaggeration to say... according to experts... that the fate of the European Union lies in the hands of those two countries, France and Germany. Our Oh Jung-hee has the details. As the UK voted to leave the EU, ... France and Germany are gearing up a united action among the other member countries of the bloc. The goal is to minimize political and economic volatilities. The French and German foreign ministers met with their counterparts from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary in Prague on Monday,... where they reaffirmed the need for an immediate kick-start of the withdrawal process. "It would be good if the UK activated Article 50,.. so that the legal situation would align with the political reality. This process will take some time but this peculiar situation can give space to various populists. ... We would be glad if this process started." French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are also scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and European Council President Donald Tusk on Monday to discuss Brexit. During their phone conversation on Sunday,... they reportedly agreed on avoiding any potential uncertainties resulting from Brexit,... and needing quick measures on concrete priorities. Experts believe that the EU's political landscape will be reshaped to center around Paris and Berlin. Foreign policy experts have shared with the U.S. political news magazine Politico that although a few more countries could leave the EU,... the union will be more solidified and harmonized through a reinvigorated French-German partnership. "Ultimately Germany and France will be big partners moving forward. They will drive further integration. ... The continent is divided between those wanting more EU and those wanting less, and of course those who want to leave all together. So Germany and France have stay through the political landscape very carefully. What France and Germany want now is the EU to survive." The expert added that although the European public is divided,... the main goal of France and Germany is the survival of the union. Oh Jung-hee, Arirang News. Solidarity On The Left Today | Dawn Butler
Director of think tank ResPublica Phillip Blond, challenges Labour MP Dawn Butler on why there is no solidarity on the left today. #socialism #thatcher #trump #iaitv #politics #identity #race #sex #nation Identity politics has become ever more influential. ** Subscribe to the Institute of Art and Ideas https://www.youtube.com/user/IAITV ** Listen to our weekly podcast: https://soundcloud.com/instituteofart... Butler served as MP for Brent South from 2005 to 2010. Phillip Blond: Phillip is an internationally recognised political thinker, social and economic commentator and director of ResPublica. Prior to entering politics and public policy, he was a senior lecturer in theology and philosophy, teaching at the Universities of Exeter and Cumbria. He is the author of Red Tory, which sought to redefine the centre ground of British politics around the ideas of civil association, mutual ownership and shared enterprise. Dan Britt - Orbits and Ice Ages: The History of Climate
Another lecture in IHMC's award winning lecture series. http://www.ihmc.us Climate change has become a major political issue, but few understand how climate has changed in the past and the forces that drive climate. Most people don't know that fifty million years ago there were breadfruit trees and crocodiles on the shores of the Arctic Ocean, or that 18,000 years ago there was a mile-thick glacier on Manhattan and a continuous belt of winter sea ice extending south to Cape Hatteras. The History of Climate provides context of our current climate debate and fundamental insight how the climate works. Dr. Daniel Britt is a Professor of Astronomy and Planetary Sciences at the Department of Physics, University of Central Florida. He was educated at the University of Washington and Brown University, receiving a Ph.D. from Brown in 1991. He has had a varied career including service in the US Air Force as an ICBM missile launch officer and an economist for Boeing before going into planetary sciences. He has served on the science teams of two NASA missions, Mars Pathfinder and Deep Space 1. He was the project manager for the camera on Mars Pathfinder and has built hardware for all the NASA Mars landers. Britt currently does research on the physical properties and mineralogy of asteroids, comets, the Moon, and Mars under several NASA grants. Honors include 5 NASA Achievement Awards, election as a Fellow of the Meteoritical Society, and an asteroid named after him; 4395 Dan Britt. He is currently President of the Division for Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society. He lives in Orlando with his wife Judith. They have two sons, ages 16 and 21.
