Russian billionaire Deripaska Sochi is good investment
Russian business tycoon Oleg Deripaska has been explaining why he co-funded the Sochi Olympics. He told the BBC's Daniel Sandford he wanted to develop the area where he spent his childhood but also that the "unique place" presented a good investment which would "pay back". The Sochi Games have been called the most expensive in history though Mr Deripaska disputed the media's claims: "There is not $51bn for sure - it's around 25, 27 in total". http://adf.ly/dP1FL

Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev announced the creation of a new investment fund worth $10 billion (€8.81 billion) following talks between Russian and Chinese leaders, in Moscow on Tuesday. "A number of important agreements were signed today, including the creation of a very large fund in CNY, the equivalent of 10 billion US dollars" said the CEO. "This is extremely important because it will make it easier for many Chinese investors to invest in Russia, in a variety of infrastructure projects, logistics and energy." SOT, Kirill Dmitriev, Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO, (Russian): "A number of important agreements were signed today, including the creation of a very large fund in CNY, the equivalent of 10 billion US dollars. THE BOSS: Angry Putin Slams Russian Minister of Transport For Not Doing His Job!
Vladimir Putin met with Government members and reprimended Russian Minister of Transport for failing to resolve issue of bankrupted Russian airline VIM-AVIA and their 39K stranded passengers. Putin transcript: Yesterday, I spoke with the Transport Minister about this. Mr Sokolov told me that the company had fully met the requirements for airline companies. He knows my response, I do not want to repeat myself. I will only repeat one thing. If you developed criteria, what good do they do if you cannot see the actual situation behind them? What kind of criteria are these? A company may meet all requirements and still not be able to operate. Tens of thousands of people, tens of thousands found themselves in a very difficult situation. I would understand if it was the first time but similar cases occur year after year. And we are still unable to develop functional and efficient legal regulation. Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino and First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kirienko prior to the meeting with Government members. Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino and First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kirienko prior to the meeting with Government members. I understand very well that we want to create adequate conditions for businesses without the excessive burden of additional costs related to various forms of protecting people’s interests, insurance and so forth. But it is not possible to run a normal business without them. After all, business is not for business people but for the customers. By the way, the same is taking place in construction. We have been endlessly talking about housing equity holders and so what? We are investing funds, of course, and remedying some payments – many but not all – but the problem is still there. And now law-enforcement agencies report that apart from this predicament of so-to-speak official housing equity holders, there is also a different problem linked with illegal construction. This problem is many times larger than that of housing equity holders. Some companies are building housing on sites that have not been properly registered, and people have absolutely no idea where to go and whom to contact. Yes, of course, I understand that without the use of private funds this business would not have been as effective as it is now. We know about the problems facing the construction industry. Everything is clear. But why are we still unable to regulate properly the normal, civilised functioning of these vital economic sectors? I have just discussed this with the Prime Minister, and I would like to draw the attention of the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of transport to this issue: you do not pay enough attention to this sector. Not enough. Maybe you are overloaded? We have already spoken about this. And I want to tell the Minister that this is a reprimand for incompetent performance. If you cope with this problem quickly and successfully, Mr Medvedev and I will think about what to do about this incompetent performance. If you fail, we will think about that as well. Please resolve this problem quickly and effectively, and not only resolve it but also submit proposals on settling this situation in general, intensifying the legal regulation of this sector and enhancing responsibility of carriers. It is necessary to monitor the implementation of norms, requirements and standards. They must be effective, understandable and transparent. Russia: "40 percent of investment directed towards fuel and energy" - Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that "more than 40 percent of investment in the country is directed to the fuel and energy complex," at a meeting in Moscow, Tuesday. SOT, Russian President Vladimir Putin, (Russian): "In recent years Russian fuel and energy complex and its basic industries have achieved good results due to the decisions that we took in previous years. First of all I mean preferential treatment which we implemented during the development of fields and the (Arctic) shelf in Eastern Siberia, the stimulation of deep oil refining and production of quality motor fuels." SOT, Russian President Vladimir Putin, (Russian): "Natural gas production in Russia in 2014 amounted to 578 billion cubic metres. Major projects were implemented to increase the export potential of the country. New resource-saving programs are being introduced as well as environmentally friendly technology. Moreover, such valuable raw material as petroleum gas is used more efficiently." SOT, Russian President Vladimir Putin, (Russian): "Nowadays more than 40 percent of investment in the country is directed towards the fuel and energy complex. Our common goal is to maintain that positive trend of investment in the industry. We have to keep in mind that investment in the energy sector has a positive impact on the entire country's economy, this leads to the creation of the additional working places and orders for related industries." Russian/Eng/Nat One of Yeltsin's top advisors and proponent of buy-Russia policies has called for foreign car makers to invest in Russia. First Vice-premier Boris Nemtsov made his remarks on Wednesday at the Moscow Autoshow. Earlier this year Nemtsov championed Russia's car laws which will eventually prohibit government officials from driving foreign made cars. Russia's first vice-premier strolled past fifty foreign model cars at Moscow's International Autoshow on Wednesday. Although Nemtsov hopes to see more Russian made cars on Moscow's streets, he knows the dream is far from becoming a reality. While the average Russian can't afford a Mercedes or Audi, most Russians would rather drive a foreign made car than get behind the wheel of a Volga or a Moskvich. Nemtsov told reporters that foreign made cars are far superior in quality than anything Russia can produce. SOUNDBITE: (Russian) "It's our dream that Russian cars will one day have the same quality as foreign cars. But we also need to have foreign car makers here not only as sellers but also as co-investors." SUPER CAPTION: Boris Nemtsov, First vice-premier And foreign car makers are flowing into Russia for their share of the growing market as more and more people choose to drive foreign cars. The carshow also exhibited the latest models in Russian cars, but the Japanese made Toyota Corolla came away with top prize for best car. And after receiving the award from Nemtsov, Toyota Corolla's chief was positive about the Russian car industry's future. SOUNDBITE: (English) "There are many intelligent people and many good industries in Russia, so once they can focus on designing a new car, you can do it." SUPER CAPTION: Manabu Morisaka, Toyota Corolla Chief Engineer But competition from abroad has nearly bankrupted Russian car-makers -- and staying afloat in their own country will only get harder. Earlier this year the Russian government decided to sell off its fleet of foreign cars earlier this year in a bid to encourage domestic car production. Boris Nemtsov's initiative to force Russian officials to drive homemade cars began with an auction in June. But the auction sparked controversy because locally produced cars were far inferior to foreign imports, and it now seems - at least for the moment - that Nemtsov himself is in agreement. Russia seeks to diversify investment portfolio as sanctions hit
Russia is making inroads in diversifying its state investment portfolio, despite difficulties over sanctions. The Russian Direct Investment Fund has made equity investments in high-growth sectors of the country's economy, co-investing along with big and sophisticated global investors, thus acting as a catalyst for foreign direct investment.   Kirill Dmitriev, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, talked about the challenges of managing Russia's 10 billion US dollar sovereign fund. The World Economic Forum selected Dmitriev to be a Young Global Leader. In 2011 he was the only Russian national to be named one of 100 most influential private equity professionals of the decade by Private Equity International Magazine. Russia: Putin calls to boost foreign investment during Chamber of Commerce address
Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out the necessity of cooperation with foreign colleagues and businesses in order to attract investment during a speech at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) in Moscow, Tuesday. SOT, President Vladimir Putin (Russian): "Good afternoon, dear colleagues! First of all, I want to thank you for the invitation to take part in the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce – which is of course one of the largest business associations with a long history and long-standing traditions." SOT, President Vladimir Putin (in Russian): "The existing resources should be more actively used. I would like to ask the Chamber of Commerce to expand cooperation with foreign colleagues, with our trade delegations, with the regional authorities in order to help foreign businesses to open Russia, to build enterprises here, to make profitable investments, to invest in Russia’s economy. And of course, the Chambers of Commerce should play a significant role in the promotion of domestic products in foreign markets." SOT, President Vladimir Putin (in Russian): "In the near future domestic companies, which are exporting non-resource products, should be given opportunities to apply value added tax (VAT) credit in a simplified, speeded up procedure. I ask the [CCI] deputies to adopt the law as soon as possible." If you look at Russians coming from Moscow or St Petersburg, they are by definition, in my mind, nowadays European. Negotiating with Russians is always a challenge, but business negotiations are always tough. Russia is opening up. Russia has just joined the WTO (World Trade Organisation). Mid of Russian tourists riding on reindeer sleigh 20. Close up of reindeer STORYLINE: For thousands of Russians each day, the Finnish province of South Karelia is their first stop in Finland. Their holiday habits - as well as substantial two-way investment - are helping to fuel an economic boom in the region and buck the trend of many eurozone countries. Lake Saimaa, near the city of Lappeenranta, is part of the attraction. A luxury resort has sprung up on the lakeshore and now construction is underway on thousands more bedrooms, a shopping mall, and soon a nearby IKEA superstore. The influx of visitors, high spending tax-free tourists on day trips and the growing amount of cross-border investment between the two countries means the unemployment rate in South Karelia stood at 5-point-8 per cent at the end of 2012, according to Finnish government statistics. That's down 2.7 percent from the previous year and about half the eurozone average. Finland's Minister for International Trade, Alex Stubb, says that other EU countries should "be open" when dealing with Russia. "Negotiating with Russians is always a challenge, but business negotiations are always tough," says Stubb, who also holds the cabinet portfolio of Minister for EU Affairs. President Niinisto will also attend a trade fair in the Russian capital to promote Finnish products. Why is CHINA investing in the BALKANS? - VisualPolitik EN

Russia: Investment pouring into Ukraine is bluff says Pushkov
Promises that investment will "pour into Ukraine" is a "bluff" from Kiev, said Alexei Pushkov, head of the Russian State Duma's Foreign Affairs Committee in Moscow, Thursday. The Russian statesman added that Ukrainian economists share the same view, given the dire financial situation of the country. Pushkov elaborated that the EU would soon realise that Ukraine is not the "vibrating democracy the Western media reported." He went on to call Ukraine "a state in a deep crisis, tied with ultra-nationalist ideas." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To use this footage please contact the Ruptly Client Desk: [email protected] Video ID: 20150423-084 ---------------------------------- Twitter: http://twitter.com/Ruptly VK: https://vk.com/ruptlytv Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ruptly LiveLeak: http://www.liveleak.com/c/Ruptly Vine: https://vine.co/Ruptly Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/Ruptly Google Plus: http://google.com/+RuptlyTV YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/RuptlyTV DailyMotion: http://www.dailymotion.com/ruptly Video on Demand: http://www.ruptly.tv

Dudley's comment is in contrast to concerns about investing in the country following a Russian court's decision to extend the prison sentence against former oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky by six years.
NKorean port revitalised thanks to Russian and Chinese investment
LEADIN Socialist North Korea is continuing with a small experiment in capitalism. Despite tension on the Korean peninsula earlier this year with concern over satellite images which appear to show that North Korea is restarting a plutonium reactor, and a new round of UN sanctions, neighbours China and Russia are still trying to help. Now after more than twenty years, a tiny corner of North Korea is starting to see some of the benefits of international investment. STORYLINE: The sea is what makes Rason in North Korea so attractive to China and Russia. The water here doesn't freeze in winter, so it offers the potential of all year round shipping for landlocked northeast China, and Russia, where ice blocks trade at its eastern ports for months on end. The potential of this area has been promoted for a long time. But the advantages of geography and climate have fallen victim to politics and poor infrastructure. North Korea declared the area a special area for foreign investment in the early 1990s and the United Nations Development Programme got involved. Nothing much happened until nearly twenty years later, when in 2011 China officially partnered with North Korea in the attempt to develop the region. Now, there are smooth road surfaces and modern railway infrastructure thanks to China and Russia - very different to the rest of North Korea. The motivation for this government-backed investment is clear, according to Danilov Mikhail Wallenchinowich, vice-director of Rason International Container Transport Joint Venture Company. "Our company is proceeding with port modernisation and railway reconstruction. The reason we selected Rajin port is that this port has favourable conditions of not freezing all the year for 12 months and being able to carry the cargo to any place of the world." The improvement of big-ticket items like roads, railways and ports might finally make Rason look appealing to smaller-scale investors in trade and services. That's why Chinese traders and property developers are hoping to get involved. It has been very slow to take off by the standards of mainland China, but over the past three years there has been a noticeable increase in the way that Chinese traders are able to do business in Rason. A new commercial and residential development still under construction is one of the largest and liveliest developments in the area. Commercial areas are already open where Korean customers can buy cheap imported goods from China, in a way that the North Korean authorities do not tolerate elsewhere in the country. The property development here has been slower to take off. The main complex attached to this commercial development has not yet been finished, more than one year after construction started. But Zhao Chun Lin, Chinese Representative of Rason International Commercial Trade Centre remains optimistic: "The Commercial Trade Centre which is being built as a joint venture of the Chinese Jin Property company with a North Korean partner has a good effect in general and great social influence. In future we will increase investments by enlarging the management scope, and invest more fund and effort to other items such as Korean commercial property, tourism and more." Rason seems far from the glittering capitals and powerhouse economies of modern Asia, and it is cut off from the rest of North Korea by the government in Pyongyang. It has survived near stagnation for two decades. Only in the past few years it has started to develop, in small steps, thanks to money from China and Russia, and there is no sign yet that the commercial freedoms here will be officially allowed all over North Korea any time soon. Selling Russian Natural Gas to China
http://www.profitableinvestingtips.com/bond-investing/selling-russian-natural-gas-to-china Selling Russian Natural Gas to China By www.ProfitableInvestingTips.com So, if Russia cuts off natural gas supplies to Ukraine how will Europe get its natural gas from Russia? And if the EU and USA ramp up sanctions in the wake of the Russian annexation of Crimea the USA may just start replacing Russia as the energy supplier of choice for the EU. Then where will Gazprom, Lukoil and the rest sell their natural gas? According to the news they will be selling Russian natural gas to China! In fact, a Russian Chinese energy agreement has been in the works for a decade. China is still a growing economy and Russia has lots of natural resources. However, there has been distrust and outright animosity between these two great Asian powers for a long, long time. On the face of it selling Russian natural gas to China sounds like good business. On the other hand Vladimir Putin, the Russian president who just annexed part of a neighboring country, may have found himself in a jam. Without the EU as a willing buyer of Russian energy products, who is going to compete for Russian natural gas and keep the price up? Selling Russian natural gas to China may better be seen as part of how investing in Russia will suffer from the Crimea fallout. Ukraine, Crimea, Russia and Investment Capital The largest source of foreign direct investment in Russia has been the EU, especially Germany. Russia does not appear to be ready to back off its campaign to destabilize Ukraine and take its Eastern regions into the Russian Federation. As such we can expect to see a slow but sure ramping up of economic sanctions by the EU and USA. The ruble has already fallen to all-time lows and Gazprom is talking about issuing bonds denominated in Yuan. This actually makes sense as who would want debts denominated in Rubles when the currency is in free fall. So, does Russia want China to be its next big investor? It seems like Mr. Putin has forgotten the Sino-Soviet undeclared border war in 1969. The fact that a contract for selling Russian natural gas to China has been on the table for ten years should tell us that both sides have major issues with this agreement. But, to the extent that Russia has boxed itself in selling Russian natural gas to China may be the best way to make money. Certainly for China who would like to make the Yuan into an international currency, Gazprom selling debt denominated in Yuan instead of rubles, dollars or euros should be seen as a good deal. Where Is This Going? In our articles about Investing in Russia we wrote about the devastation of the Second World War in Russia and the valid concern of Russian governments to protect the Motherland. The more valid issue for Ukraine is that the people have been badly governed ever since the breakup of the USSR and before that Stalin murdered millions and the Germans invaded. It is clear that a lot of folks would like a better life in Ukraine. It is also clear that Russian speakers may well want closer relations with Russia or even to be part of Russia. However, the majority of the country and lots of folks in the east of Ukraine do not ever want that situation and want closer relations with the West. This situation is not going to get better without an agreement between Russia, the EU and the USA. Selling Russian natural gas to China may be a short term cash flow solution but the better solution will be for Putin, Obama, Merkel and the rest to put politics aside and find a viable fix that helps Ukraine and encourages investment in the region. http://youtu.be/aEC_IKvvXtA

Russian Investments in Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia 2013-2020
The article: "Russian Investments in Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia 2013-2020" can be found on http://www.grandwaktu.com A challenging Western European beer market and unpredictable conditions in Russia have led Danish brewer Carlsberg A/S to adjust its near-term outlook and seek growth in emerging markets. The Danish brewer bought the 50% it didn't already own in Baltika Breweries, the market leader in Russia, as part of a deal with Heineken NV of the Netherlands to take over and split up Scottish & Newcastle PLC in 2008. But Carlsberg's big bet on Russia is under pressure as government officials there look to control alcohol use by restricting advertising and availability, such as by moving away from sales at .

Russia's goal is $ 600 billion investment in the North Pole.
Russia's goal is $ 600 billion investment in the North Pole. "Russia plans to invest $ 400-600 billion over 20 years for the development of resources in the Arctic," Russian Energy Minister Novak said. Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak announced plans to invest between $ 400 and $ 600 billion for the development of energy resources in the Arctic over the next 20 years. Speaking at the conference called "North Pole-Dialogue Region" in Arhangelsk, Russia, Novak said he had great potential in terms of energy resources in the Arctic. "For this reason, the projects we think need to be developed in line with our energy strategies," said Novak, who plans to invest $ 400 to $ 600 billion over the next 20 years to develop energy resources in the region. Investors from China and other countries are very interested in these projects. " Recalling that Russia produced 93 million tons of oil annually in the arctic region, Novak said, "We intend to increase the output of the North Pole production to 22 percent by 2035." Novak noted that oil prices should be between $ 70 and $ 100 per barrel for oil production in the Arctic region to be profitable, while current oil prices are positive for global supply-demand balance. According to the International Energy Agency, the North Pole has 13 per cent of the world's total undiscovered oil reserves and 30 per cent of natural gas reserves.

Due to the large Russian investment in Cyprus, it is estimated that a quarter of the deposits in the country's banks, estimated to up to 30bn euros, stem from Russians individuals and companies. Russians in Cyprus are set to lose an estimated 2.3bn euros from the EU's proposal to bail out the Cypriot economy through a levy of up to 9.9% on all bank accounts. Around 10,000 Russians live in Cyprus and 50% of them live in the coastal town of Limassol where Russian schools, churches and even radio and TV stations have been set up for the growing community on the island.
