When I give them a position that I need to have filled, they don't necessarily just say "Yep, we're gonna take it and we're gonna find it.” If it's a position that they don't feel comfortable working on they're very upfront “that this just isn't the core competency by which we can find somebody”. On the flip side of that, if it is, a position that they do find is in the breadth of their experience; they're able to find viable candidates that they get in front of us in a timely manner. The value that Micone Staffing has brought to us has been really solid. The resource that they're providing in terms of staffing, they're able to bring together all the information that I need. It's a barometer by which I hold all the other agencies accountable. When I see a company that does very similar things it is refreshing, it's a nice breath of fresh air. We need to have a realistic view of how much work can be done by our team next month, taking into account the availability of each of our team members during the month. Resource Capacity Planner Excel template is helpful in understanding the available resource capacity, comparing with demand and identifying surplus/deficit capacity by skill groups. The template takes the resource availability, holidays, weekends, overtime and vacation data to calculate capacity. Then, based on your input demand data, it can calculate the surplus/deficit capacity. In addition, you can generate an employee availability report. It can be used in different environments. For example, a manager leading a team can use this to plan capacity of his team every month. A project manager who is working on a multi-month long project can plan the resource capacity for the entire duration. A series of videos explaining Information Technology for IT Recruiters. This would help IT Recruiters. Text: I thought I could start this video series that could help IT Recruiters. I understand that IT Recruiting is one among the challenging jobs out there, as it requires not only the people skills but also a wide variety of technical knowledge as well. For example, let us just say a company hires a new recruiter. During the interview process the recruiting skills of that recruiter has been tested. Everything was fine. Now, being on the job, that recruiter was given 5 positions to fill. That recruiter has to find candidates for these following positions. 1 x Windows Administrator with SAN knowledge 1 x Tools and Development Engineer with Shell Scripting 2 * Oracle DBAs with RMAN and Oracle Streams expertise 1 * SAP Basis position with SAP portal expertise So the recruiter publishes these requirements. After that resumes come in. The next part is to have a phone conversation with the candidates whose resume look good. In this conversation, which can also be called as 'initial phone screening', the emphasis will be mostly on the non-technical aspects. The candidate will not be tested for his or her technical skills. The technical interviews will be setup later. However it would be good if the recruiter can have a little bit of a technical conversation at that point. That might help to decide if the candidate can have a second interview at all, thereby saving the time and resources needed. For example, during an initial screening with an Oracle DBA candidate, the recruiter can ask 'Have you used RMAN for database backups? What is the backup policy in your current environment?' This question is not highly technical but would make the candidate to speak some sentences about RMAN backups. This would enable the recruiter to get some insights of the candidate's ability and validity of what is being claimed in the resume. So, I hope this series of lessons will provide a quick and crisp overview of these technological keywords being used in the job descriptions and resumes, thereby helping the recruiters.
