i actually noticed when i started the process in this vid it put me through that security step of asking me to verify who I am by entering a code sent to another email address. when I did that there was a box to check saying, "I use this device a lot. don't ask me to verify" or something like that. after I checked that box, the stock email app no longer had any authentication issues, without going any further into the app password process. never got the app password. works fine, now

Genius. Thanks man. I realized that the issue started when i first got the two step notification enabled. It then eventually led to me not realizing apps my email in the app would use a different passwords. Thanks for your help.

I'm sure you are exceptionally intelligent, but some if us are very new to all this so please for us slower ones: 1. Slow down, 2.Give time to see what is on screen. Thank you for being there w/help.

Glad this video helped a lot of people....but, I have to shake my head at the many steps to set up and access a simple email. "You have to do this....then do this....and then do this ...and then do this....and then do this....and then do this" WTH? is with these techs coming up with all this, and the sitting back and forcing the public to have to figure out the problems & share with others. Geesh! <rantoff>

Went to a client today with a problem logging in to his hotmail on his Apple products, turns out it was because of this. I thought it would be something new that Microsoft had just brought it but I'm disgusted to find it's been going on for over a year at least! Common Microsoft, sort it out! I'm shocked that they have let this continue.

perfect fix. You're a lifesaver dude.
Jon Hare (3 years ago)
So complicated... isn't it about time standardization of this kind of thing was enforced on all tech companies
The Tech Tape (2 years ago)
The problem is that the default mail applications only support a "simple" password for emails, and not this two step verification thing. It's stupid that Microsoft are still using this two step verification without adding support for these default mail applications. I agree with you, standardisation should be enforced!
Eileene Soltero (3 years ago)

ITJungles (3 years ago)
Did you check to make sure you got the right password from Outlook. It should be the long app password generated automatically by the Outlook website.
