Meet Garigarra Mundine, a Wiradjuri, Bundjulang, Kamilaroi and Gumbayngirr woman from Dubbo, NSW. Overcoming significant adversity and living away from family, Garigarra graduates next week with a Bachelor of International Relations focusing on human rights and development issues. She credits the support of the Tjabal Indigenous Higher Education Centre and women's networks for completing her degree. Garigarra packed a lot in during her full-time study at ANU, extra-curricular activities such as being one of the ACT representatives for the 2017 National Indigenous Youth Parliament, part of a group of students representing ANU at the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education in Toronto, Canada, and represented the Wiradjuri nation at the Spirit of the Planet festival in Bergamo, Italy. She also managed a part-time position in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and a position as a board member for not-for-profit organisation, the Sydney Story Factory. Garigarra is about to start a full-time position within the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities.
