Ranking in the Google maps has become more and more important over time.
As the internet expands, more and more people become reliant on small businesses that they can depend on locally.
There are many benefits of being a local business in Google's eyes. First and foremost you get priority in rankings when someone types in a local search.
For example, if you typed in, "painting company in X" your local business would appear over a business like a HomeAdvisor
So with that being said, how can you rank above your competitors in your local market with SEO.
In this video, I cover four very important ranking factors for higher Google map rankings in 2018
If you follow these steps closely, you will see your rankings climb.
Will it be overnight? No. But it will pay off when your business listing starts climbing and you start receiving more phone calls as a result of this.

I currently have a listing on Google my business and it is based out of my shop on an acreage in the country. This is not a store front type of business it’s a pickup and delivery type. My problem is my address is in a small community and I need to attract customers from the larger centre thirty minutes down the highway. I don’t think google maps will help I need some direction on how to get my google my business to come up on google searches in the larger centre. Please and thank you
hi you should try consolety, it's a Wordpress plugin that matches your published content with other consolety users in the consolety network based on your titles, tags categories and language of the post. Meaning 100% accurate matching that is rellevant all done for you by the consolety plugin. you can just browse it withint your wordpress installation simply by searching for the name consolety.
Yeah one you should really look at on GMB is their new feature called "Google posts". It's really cool because it allows you to show clients searching your brand or going onto your video your post. I've tried this with a few clients and it always results in more traffic - definately check it out. But good luck on everything, hopefully I hear some success stories in the near future :)
Thanks so much for your feedback, Ruan. I haven’t tried anything yet as I am in the process of setting up an agency for video marketing for local businesses. Video creation is very costly and most local businesses don’t have the time and skill to create their own. I am offering affordable videos with simple customisation that they can use on websites, GMB and other online portals to get them started in video marketing. I plan to offer GMB optimisation as an add-on-service especially since Google has added a lot of new marketing tools to GMB that most people don’t know about as yet.
Janis Bryden yeas that would be a great idea. Go for those who have already shown interest in SEO and provide them with value up front. But I don’t think business owners would not want to hear you out on that - have you tried this?
Ther's this guy who opened a fake listing or duplicate listing right where my legit listing is same address and same name and Google's algorithm marked me as the duplicate and merged my reviews and photos with the duplicate listing
Hey there's a way to verify when you don't get the google card by going trough the faq of MY business and sending them an e-mail, it took several days but that's how I finally verified. Hope you solve your problem
Google advised me to reverify the duplicate location by requesting a post card they are only talking about norms so I asked them where was your norms when you allowed the duplicate location and it's been 14 days since I requested the post card and still it hasn't arived!
