Great point about if we treated climate change like we treat terrorism, we could fix this problem. which should be the most important problem humans are facing right now. I'm not afraid of dying and going to hell as i'm so often told is whats going to happen, I'm afraid of dying and leaving a hell behind me for the future generation, which I am often told is not going to happen. Well as usual I side with science.
9/11 was the first time I actually threw something at my TV when W said he was going to eliminate Capital Gains Tax. Agree with you for investment in Green Energy. I think the $6 Trillion amount is lowballed.
Good job with getting out the true numbers. Be careful that Al Gore doesn't lowball numbers either.
Look at Paul Beckwith!
The most evil part is that they Know fossil fuel is finite but its still profitable so they'll milk it to the end while they monopolize the battery industry. That's ALL that matters to them. They are superpredators and need to be brought to heel.
And if the truth came out about high protein diets causing most of our diseases, and how those diseases could be reversed by stopping animal products, we would be healthy, and the planet would start turning around. But the FDA and USDA are in on this too. Not only that, but our hospitals would be smaller and quieter. They just don't want that. These things must be done, or it's over for the species. Animal production is the largest contributor to climate change. We hardly even need green technology. I seem to be the only one saying Elon Musk is a fool. I have the same degree he has. We only need green technology if we want to continue eating animals. And we're herbivores! Why are we even eating it!
You think so? I've got dozens more where this came from. The proof is overwhelming and incontrovertible. Not only are we absolutely proven to be herbivores, it is shown that we are specifically starchivores. Ignore at your own peril.
G Kuljian I disagree that we're herbivores rather than omnivores, but you're also ignoring the problem of scale; in many ways it's the number of people we need to feed that is the problem. Also, the kind of large scale agribusiness needed to feed 6 billion people on grains and vegetables would require the massive farming done by people who are practically indentured servants, and would still require fossil fuels to harvest, transport and process. People in Siberia or Iceland probably don't see organic gardening as a viable option.
Your comments and being just past the anniversary of 9/11 go me thinking again about what actually happened. My problem centers around world trade center building #7 and what happened to it. I am no expert and I was not there, and there may have been many factors that I admit are far beyond my ability to fairly judge. But building #7...that gigantic forty story building hit by nothing and yet free falling as if it was rigged for demolition....that is not beyond my understanding. It could not have happened, yet it did. The only explanations are so horrible in truth I believe most people cannot face it. Whatever was left of my patriotism and belief in the goodness of America died that day and has only been confirmed over and over again since.
You're not alone on this. The film September 11: The New Pearl Harbor outlines all of the serious problems with the official story.
I just think it's amazing how people can know the Cheney administration lied about everything and yet believe they told the truth about 9/11. Given how long the White House stonewalled any investigation and had to be shamed by 9/11 widows into putting the least amount of money that they could get away with into an overestimation, led by one of Condi Rice's bestest friends and someone she wrote a book with, Philip Zelikow, and rife with inconsistencies and resignations over being lied to... it's just remarkable to me that anyone still believes the official narrative. It's beyond ludicrous. But that's what trauma does: it short-circuits most people's information processing. Check out Laurie Manwell's talks for more on that.
Graham, may I suggest doing a little research on the rate of deforestation? There are nations in Africa that are cutting down all of the trees, because that's their only source of heating fuel for cooking and purification of water. Canada has had millions of acres deforested to get to tar sands oil. These stories go on and on. These two issues are completely connected and why scientists have to keep readjusting their models. We're cutting down the main absorber of carbon, to literally produce more carbon. If climate change were put in terms of the nuclear doomsday clock, it has already struck midnight.
If we were really interested in fighting terrorism, we could take less than 1/100 of that money and end world hunger. No profit for the greedy sociopaths in that though. Could you imagine the backlash against anyone who attacked a nation that ended world hunger?
Did you question your friend's motives for joining the military after 9/11? Did they understand the history of US involvement in the Middle East?
If we enable this kind of misguided patriotism, then the soldiers carry out a completely different agenda (control of resources, establishing a military presence), then they come back as "heroes" who refuse to discuss what they did or saw, it becomes a vicious circle. We need counter-recruitment and counter-education to keep good people out of the military where they will become indistinguishable from the "bad apples."
You don't understand climate if you think that if America stopped using fossil fuels 15 years ago we could have reversed climate change. It will take a concerted effort by everyone for a century to reduce the temperature to pre industrial levels
