118 ratings | 17380 views
David Lordkipanidze discusses the discovery of one of the world's most important archeological sites, and the challenge of changing humanity's view of it's origins. Prof. David Lordkipanidze is the first General Director of the Georgian National Museum founded in 2004, which unified 10 major museums in Georgia and 2 research institutes. Under his leadership, the Museum has gradually been transformed from a Soviet-type institution into a vibrant space for culture, education and science. Most recently, Lordkipanidze was involved in the discovery of ancient hominid remains in Dmanisi. Prof. Lordkipanidze has authored over 100 scientific articles published in respected and well-known scientific journals such as Nature, Science Magazine, Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences of USA, Journal of Human Evolution and more. He has also served both as a member and as the chair of science committees for the exhibition concepts in the leading museums of USA, Japan, France, Italy, Brazil, and Spain. He was a visiting Professor at Harvard University (2002) and serves as a professor of European program Erasmus mundus. He also is a guest speaker and the scholar-in-residence in foreign universities and institutions. Lordkipanidze has been the recipient of many honors and awards, including the French decorations Palmes Académiques (2002), a Fulbright Scholarship (2002), the Rolex Award for Enterprise (2004), and the Presidential Order of Excellence (2011), among others. He is also a foreign associate member of the National Academy of Sciences (USA), corresponding member of German archeological institute (2008), corresponding member of Georgian National Academy of Sciences (2009), member of European Academy of Science and Arts (2009), member of the academy of Europe (2010). In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Surprisingly there are no comments in georgian lenguage. Nor the translation in English provided . Is there anybody who needs help-I can translate. Don't be shy. ქართველებო სად ხართ? სირცხვილო, დედის გინების გარდა რომ არ გაინტერესებთ არაფერი.

Wouldn't it be possible to find a person who can speak English to present this type of information?
Yes, it's not easy if you're not used to it. It's just an accent. Please make an effort and give him a credit, How many languages do you speak, smarty?

To be an archaeologists or an anthropologist you have to be a Sherlock Holmes if you are not you are in the wrong field. You are wasting your time and the archaeological communities time. You have to be a detective. You have to like the mistory

I'm black and I'm tried of this out of Africa bullshit....they always leave out, the theory part...it's called the out of Africa theory...all black people don't come from Africa...they found remains over here older than the slave trade that belongs to black people....imagine that

Yea my dude a theory is when a hypothesis is tested and verified. It gains scientific consensus so more research can be done based on that theory. It's a common mistake.

Smoknweed1978 if you understood what a theory means maybe you’d change your mind. It’s not a hypothesis.....it’s a theory.

Now appears that the out of Africa shifts in to ever earlier era, I wondering if camels, mastodons, elephants, horse found in Americas ALSO come from Africa, if not, it means out of Africa may be just a tale, perhaps there is no such thing as first human, or a exact SINGLE place, earth was a single continent GONDVANA, that have broke up with it's fauna, flora, so all sorts of similar species have lived everywhere , where the climate was suitable, I'm sure the same strategy must be also true for , apes , pre-humans and humans, There are now older skeletons in China, completely destroying the prevailing believe of out of Africa. Soon we find out, OUT OF AFRICA IS COMPLETELY WRONG.

+ElusiveCube And where the fuck do you see me here demanding or even talking about respirations...funny how something not spoken about is on your mind...its that complex popping back up again..

Egyptians are African there is NO negro do you allow people to define you? Then agree with their definition? When they come last in human Evolution? does that even make logical sense? How you manage to make Kemet(Egypt) not African? Who said only? Arabs had it for much longer but they did not make kidnapping and the victims from that the WORLD economy. Liberated?????? you have to either be on crack or completely out of your mind or just tying to get a reaction. Strange is the fact you think steeling families murdering millions and forcing them to work for over 400 years for free is liberation??? Wow YOU CLEARLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HISTORY WHATSOEVER SMH

+ElusiveCube Your just displaying the very complex that led to people being stolen and sold smh pure ignorance

Humans evolved from African Apes. This theory will never be 'debunked'. The genetic, biological, molecular, and fossil evidence is overwhelming. We should be amazed by what we are... and where we came from — not in a state of denial. But please check your informational source, not all of them are credible. An example of misinformation is the comments in this section.

+trustjah yes completely agree . Now lots of darker the skin people African especially think everything have started with them, they , as if that would elevate some of they importance on this Earth. as if we owe them something in return. And of course the bible fanatics are just is bad, as I said AI appreciate your take on the issue, and as you say most evidence tends to points in that direction, but science when diverging from the conventional  mostly always created some new avenues , again that in it's self is not always true, I just have problems with this migration theory

Interesting research and presentation.

How is a recessive genetic trait forcing itself on the rest of native populations even considering it self a race? thats just ridiculous, a culture maybe, but not a race at all, one with murderous irrationality yes, but not much more substance to it than that. It goes on and on preaching forgiveness, but never looks at the source of its own violence or malice - recessive trait gone mad.
Good joke

ONLY White people are told "we're all from Africa, so we must mix into a blended race". ONLY White children will suffer from this - the result of being minorities in their own homelands everywhere. in South Africa, even though "we're all from Africa", we're told White people stole the land and have no right to the country they founded. People shouting "we're all from Africa" say they're anti-racist. What they are is anti-White. Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-White.
