Seems like my GPS is perfectly fine now! Thank you for the tutorial! Make sure you do have a solid phillips head and a screw driver for the double screw. I ended up stripping the Phillips head that came with the kit I bought. So I went to Walmart and bought a precision kit that was perfect. Thanks again!

Does this work if your iphone 6 can still connect to wifi but the connection is just very weak?
dinofx35 (30 days ago)
Is replacing the antenna always necessary? What about just reconnecting a loose one?
ITJungles (30 days ago)
You could try to reconnect and see if it works. If not, then replace the attenna.

Very nice, simple, step by step and easy to follow instruction on how to do it. Had done it with my iphone 6 around 8 months ago and just done another one today on my kid’s iphone 6. It seems that iphone 6 has it weakness on the wifi antenna

Thank you for this tutorial. I used it to replace the antenna on my iPhone 6. The process is pretty straightforward but very meticulous. I think most people with decent mechanical aptitude could complete this.

Very Important!! Keep your screws in a diagram of how they came out! He does not mention that until 1/2 way through.

Just replaced it and my bluetooth is finally working well again. Haven't tried the GPS out yet, but i'm confident it will be working again also. Only one issue....now the Y and 6 on my keyboard are deadspots on my touch screen. Any advice on why this is happening and how to fix?
Jazzmeson (4 months ago)
Just finished fixing my phone, thanks a lot! For anyone attempting this fix, I suggest a magnetic tray for the screws. I placed the screws in the tray mimicking their exact location one by one, which made reassembly really easy.

I got the parts and tools here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B074SG2VPV/ref=cfb_at_prodpg - and printed out a copy of the screw diagram (used double sided sticky tape to secure screws) from here - https://uedata.amazon.com/dp/B01G3HQMKA/ref=psdc_2407780011_t3_B01G3HN8EI?tag=ifixitam-20

It DOES NOT fixes GPS issue! It only fixes the wifi issue. Just replace the part and witnessed it myself.
JB Dragon (4 months ago)
Depends on what the issue on your phone is. I've been having poor Bluetooth, some Wifi issues and No GPS popping up when trying to use WAZE or other Navigation programs. So I replaced the Antenna and the GPS Module. The GPS Module is on the top left of the phone. You would have pulled it to get the main board out to change the antenna. Well, I got a new replacement and popped it into place as I was putting it back together again. Well, My Bluetooth now seems better. It would cut out turning my head, now it's working at a distance. Wifi seems a little better, but I have had issues at work which is where I would really notice it. So Unlike I go back to work, I won't know for sure 100%. My GPS? Right now it's working!!! But again it's way too early to tell as it would work and then stop working, and later work again, and then stop working. I would get the No GPS message on the screen when using WAZE, but nothing else worked either. The map was just way off. GPS is working in my Computer room inside right now. I'm going to have to use it for a week and see if No GPS pops up again or not. When it doesn't work and you're not sure how to get someplace, it can be annoying. Luckily I had a backup with my Radio/Navigation unit in my truck. The maps may be a little outdated and doesn't have as many of the fancy features of WAZE, but it got me where I needed, though a really bad roundabout way.

My buddy dropped his iPhone 6 and the wifi and bluetooth stopped working. Does it sound like an antenna replacement will fix it, maybe the antenna broke, or one or more of the connectors disconnected? Very nice video, thank you, I now feel confident that I can do this repair.

This is the best how-to video for replacing the wifi antenna that I could find on YouTube. I've never taken apart any electronic ever in my life, and I was able to fix my phone for only $15 because of this walk through. I did check my components prior to purchasing a new part. Sometimes there is a sticker askew on the wifi antenna or a connector disconnected. This video can still help you get to that point. It took a little time, patience and rewinding to make sure everything was done right. Totally worth the effort. It's better than spending another $300-$800 for a new phone. The only thing that would make this video better is if the reassembly was a bit more detailed. I made a diagram of the pieces and screws (with steps) so that I could easily reassemble, but still found myself rewinding and double checking my steps.
lazzo (5 months ago)
Thank you - very informative and easy to follow. I didn't replace my antenna but simply put a little bit of tape on top of the black sponge buffer tape (you'll see it once you remove the antenna) and this created enough pressure on the antenna contacts to re-establish a good connection.
Miroslav Metodiev (5 months ago)
Just did this to my phone. It was pretty hard to remember the screw places (long, short etc) , had hard time connecting the display properly, but beside this now works as a new! Many thanks!
Carl Brutanunanulewski (1 month ago)
The best method to remember where the screws go is to used tape. Apply the screws onto the sticky side of the tape. Then just apply the screws in same orientation they were found.

Anybody else go to apple store, and have their phone pass their diagnostics, only to have this replacement fix the issue after all?
Levent Baysak (7 months ago)
Hey man that's a really good video but i have a big problem. While i'm trying to replace the new flex cable to the logic board, guess what i did? I broke one of coax connectors on the logic board and i'm still having bad signal from my wifi. I mean i can't connect one of 4 connectors of flex cable to logic board. I hope you understand, sorry for my english btw :)
JB Dragon (4 months ago)
Well, then you're kind of screwed. You have to take your time and carefully pop all the connections. That includes the antenna. I just finished the job myself and had no problem. Everything seems to work now. This is NOT an easy fix. Lots of screws that all have to go back into the exact same spots. In general, you should let a pro do it. You may be able to take it someplace to get it fixed. Maybe not, as places don't like to fix other people's screw up's. I'm no pro, but I've fixed a number of phones over the years for friends and family. This fix almost pushed my limits. I replaced the Antenna and the GPS module. Since the parts are cheap and I only wanted to pull the phone apart once. 1 broken connector, you just made your phone worse off. Maybe time to look at a new phone. I normally keep my phones for 4 years, and so I'm into the 4th year with this iPhone 6 and I don't want to replace it at this time until the new 2018 iPhones are announced and being sold. That's still around 5 months away.
Keith Mcleod (7 months ago)
I was told that replacing the antena wouldn't fix my bluetooth and wifi issues on my iphone 6 (weak signals) by both an apple store and a independant cellphone repair place. I bought a replacement antenna, and a set of tools for $15.00 on Amazon prime. This fixed my issue .

Daniel Gehring (8 months ago)
Excellent video. Replacing antenna fixed phone gps location issue. Hot tips: magnetic tip screw driver set is good investment; tape down masking tape with sticky side up, then layout removed screws on masking tape in same pattern as on phone to ensure screws go back to correct location (screws vary in length).
lazzo (5 months ago)
Nice one Daniel - I used Sticky Tack (Blu Tack in Australia) worked great

thedoc612 (10 months ago)
This was a great video but it was missing a few steps on the reassembly and it really downplayed how hard it was to reconnect the screen... I had to take the screen off and redo the connectors 3 times before the touch functions started working again. Make sure you have the flex cables connected and press firmly on them before putting the cover back on. I thought i destroyed the screen at first but some patience got me thru and everything is working great and my GPS and WiFi signals are back to normal. Thanks!
thedoc612 (8 months ago)
yea it wasnt the order that go me, it was just how hard you had to press down on them to get the connection right.
HyperdrivenPictures (8 months ago)
Yes, reconnecting the screen can be a pain, but the connectors present themselves in the order in which they should be reattached, if that makes sense.
